View Full Details of Yaxley HouseA fantastic care home with friendly and supportive staff. We are always greeted with a smile from all staff and nothing is too much trouble. They have made the transition from hospital to care home so much easier for dad and also his loved ones.
My father is a full-time resident at Yaxley Care Home in Suffolk. Dad has dementia, so he needs a lot of care. In the 18 months since Dad became a resident, I am in awe at the level of attention he has received. Dad is treated like a beloved family member. The staff know him well and joke with him constantly. I ask my dad constantly if he is happy. Without any doubt, my dad is adamant that Yaxley is the place for him. Also, Yaxley has a great programme of activities that, fortunately, Dad is able to enjoy.
The stand out aspect of the care at Yaxley House is the warm and positive attitude of the staff. The combination of a modern wing with a traditional building allows residents to go outdoors but remain within the safe area. I have always found the home to be spotlessly clean and I was surprised on my first visit to find that it does not smell like a care home. My father has been a resident for nearly two years and I have always observed him to but treated with respect by warm and friendly staff, even when his condition makes this very difficult. I have always made welcome to visit and be involved as much or as little as I wish with his care. The food is very good, always a choice of two different dishes. Sharing lunch with my father is one of my few ways to interact with him and the quality of the food makes this much easier! I have never regretted my decision to move my father to Yaxley and would make exactly the same decision today.
This is such a wonderful care home. I'm so pleased to have Dad here. The staff are lovely, kind and helpful plus make me feel very welcome when I come and visit. The activities are amazing too. So much goes on in Yaxley during the week. Bingo, armchair exercises, singing and live music. Dad has also taken up playing the guitar again, which has been encouraged by Yaxley and due to his love of music - they have taken him out on a number of trips. We are so fortunate to have found Yaxley. We receive many photos of Dad enjoying himself and I couldn't be more happy.
I can’t thank the staff at Yaxley enough, they look after my uncle with such care and attention. He loves the activities, the food has improved dramatically over the last few months and it’s in a beautiful location in the countryside. It’s also lovely to visit them as the staff are so friendly. Thanks all.
The setting of Yaxley House is rural and secluded with normal security arrangements you would expect to keep residents secure. Some rooms are en-suite, others share communal bathrooms. The home is warm and clean. Regular entertainment is provided and trips out for the residents and if you wish to take your loved ones out yourself there is also that option. Yaxley really shines in the care they provide. My mum recently moved here following a stroke which has been difficult for her, no longer living independently. Equally, it has been quite traumatic for us her close family too. The staff at Yaxley have done so much in so many ways to make the transition as painless as possible for all of us. All staff without exception exude kindness and concern. They all go above and beyond to make certain that my mum and her family are supported. It is difficult to praise them enough. I know with certainty that Mum is being looked after with kindness and that she is safe, secure and eating properly.
My grandad was in Yaxley House for respite care over Christmas and new year. The staff were so attentive to him, especially the carers, nothing was too troublesome at all. He got to do loads of activities and we managed to get lots of meetings with management to talk about his care as well.
It has been hard for Mum to move from home where she had lived for 56 years and to accept she needed a higher level of care. I have found all the staff really helpful, friendly, caring and considerate to her needs. Mum is quite a private person and the team has recognised this. They keep me updated with any concerns they have and resolutions. Since she arrived in November I have seen her smile far more than she had for a long time and it is lovely to see.
Excellent staff who are knowledgeable, caring and supportive. For December 2023 a Christmas program was prepared for each day of the month and sent to family members, who were invited to join in any of the activities. These included an Open House with cheese and wine, carol singing and Christmas crafts. My mother, even at the age of 101, was able to enjoy many of these activities and still experience a traditional Christmas.
Always a friendly welcome at Yaxley House, the staff are attentive to the residents' needs and go above and beyond to ensure the residents' comfort as well as their visitors'. We are always made to feel very welcome, and greeted with smile. My grandma has really thrived since being there, she has some wonderful meals and plenty of snacks to keep her going throughout the day. The home itself is in a beautiful rural location and is maintained and cleaned to a very high standard. A big thank you to all the team at Yaxley House for all their hard work and care, you are all superstars.
The staff at Yaxley House are amazing. They go above and above and beyond to ensure their residents have the best care possible. Dad has been with them for six months and although I was dubious at first, I couldn't wish for a better place of care.
Very friendly caring helpful team. Looked after my mother for five years and did a splendid job. Management has changed a lot but has not affected the standard of care. Mum always seems happy when we visit.
Our mum has been in Yaxley House for nearly five years, mum is well cared for, management and staff and carers are very nice. The home provides good meals and drinks, the home is very clean and tidy and the décor has a modern feel to the home.
My Mother has been at Yaxley House since last September after her previous home closed down, we find the home very welcoming, caring staff and overall a very nice place to be. Mum seems happy but can get frustrated at times owing to her dementia but the staff are always trying to calm her and try to involve her as much as possible. She is very hard of hearing but can hear if spoken to loudly. I can honestly say that Yaxley House is a very well-presented care home.
I moved Mum here one year ago from a previous care home. She has a lovely room and over the last 6 months or so she has settled so well and any problems or queries are sorted for us straight away. Mum is very private and does not mix but there are lots of people to meet if she wanted to.
Staff have always been welcoming and my aunt has been smartly dressed when visiting.
My mother-in-law joined the residents of Yaxley House in Nov 2020. She managed to stay independent until the age of 95 but then felt she could no longer cope. From the very start, we have found everyone to be very caring and helpful. COVID has made life difficult for everyone but the situation has been managed very professionally. From the carefully managed visits to the phone calls, there has always been a lovely atmosphere. My mother-in-law has settled in well and we are very pleased with the care she is receiving.
My mother of 101 years has been living independently for many years but eventually, I had to choose a care home for her remaining years. Yaxley House is close to where I live, so was an obvious choice, which I am delighted to advise was all that I hoped for, for my mother. It was quite a stressful time for her, to cope with the change of lifestyle but the staff have been so very helpful and caring and have been exemplary in helping over this difficult period. She is very happy in her new surroundings. I would recommend Yaxley House to anyone wishing to place an elderly relative in a caring and supportive environment.
The management and staff at Yaxley House have continued to provide a first-class service to the residents during these very challenging times. The residents appeared to have had a great Christmas, despite the fact visiting my relatives was extremely limited. The staff compensated for this and made sure that presents delivered to the home were opened and providing assistance to those residents who needed it, both mentally and physically. The management team is doing an excellent job keeping the families updated on the current situation, keeping us informed on how our family members are doing and coping, and arranging video chats where possible, and sending out photos when the resident cannot engage in video chats (such as my mother). This is a great comfort as it is the only contact we can realistically have at the moment, having taken the decision not to go and see Mum until we have been vaccinated. I am very happy with how the home is coping and the care my mother is receiving.
My husband has been at Yaxley for 5-years with Dementia. It has been a journey that the care home has shared with me and my husband, so many twists and turns to this condition. The care has been over the last year, in particular, amazing. Many strides forward and no stone left unturned during the challenging times that Covid has thrown at us all. My husband is safe and well cared for, the staff are empathetic to us both. Thank you, Yaxley, and God Bless.
