View Full Details of Abbey GateRecently my Fathers Dementia has got significantly worse, and his behaviour has been challenging to the staff . However upsetting this is to the family , the care staff have been exceptional in his care , showing him dignity and respect. They have been excellent in chasing the doctors to get him some help medically with his sleeping which I am very grateful. The staff are always willing to let me know any updates. The food is exceptional. All in all I can't thank this care home enough for everything they do
My brother has been looked after in the Abbeygate Care Homes for over three years and we are very happy with the care he receives. As he continues to face the challenges of dementia the staff have made appropriate changes to his care plan and have always treated him with kindness and respect.
Reasonable standards of care, not great at communicating. Not informing the family when a resident needs medical attention. The building is looking 'tired' and worn but the majority of staff are helpful and caring. The stair lift breaks down on a regular basis, 'trapping' residents upstairs. Regularly mixing up laundry despite steps being taken to solve this.
My mother is very happy, content and more than satisfied living in Abbey Gate Care Home. She is extremely well cared for in every area and speaks highly of staff saying that they are very kind and caring. Whatever is needed for my mother, she always receives. Abbey Gate is a lovely care home and I would highly recommend it.
My mother was a resident of Abbey Gate for over six years and she told us it was the most wonderful place to be. The staff were her family too, everyone was so caring, we could not have asked for a better place for her to be. The building isn't the most modern, the rooms are a little dated but/and the dealbreaker is the people that work here are the most caring anyone could ask for. Sadly, when Mum's final days came, they did everything they could to accommodate her needs and made her comfortable in her room. I cannot thank this place enough, too many names to mention, you were all fantastic.
As mum's care needs have changed they staff have made appropriate changes for her. They have always treated her with respect and have liaised with family to ensure her happiness in the home.
I found Abbey Gate to be an extremely kind and caring environment. Extremely welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. A very warm welcome upon arrival and great care and kindness shown. I would definitely recommend it. We have already booked another stay!
Abbey Gate has been mum's home for the past 6 years. The home is beautifully furnished, bright, and open. Mum's room has been her own with all her personal belongings and cherished possessions, which have all been well cared for and protected. She has been extremely happy living in the home and has been lovingly cared for by a dedicated and friendly staff that has always looked out for her well-being. The home is also a friendly environment for the residents who form friendships amongst themselves. Before COVID, the staff would take residents out for trips and coffee mornings and they are only too ready and willing to get back to normal so that the residents can enjoy things outside of the home. During COVID, the staff have worked tirelessly to keep residents entertained and they have also set up video conferencing facilities so that the residents could see and speak to family members on a regular basis. Abbey Gate's staff are the best.
This was our first experience using respite care for my step mum whilst dad underwent surgery. As a family we couldn’t have been more reassured by the helpful, kind and caring staff who looked after our step mum. It made dads recovery so much easier knowing that his wife was in the best care. Thank you so much to the manager and team!
The staff are always very friendly and helpful.
My Mum is very happy at Abbey Gate. She says it is the 'best in the west'. The staff have been amazing during the pandemic. They have enabled Zoom calls, set up a gazebo in the summer and then a perspex screen in the autumn. The management have kept the residents safe and cheerful.
Abbey Gate is a home from home, it is warm, comforting and friendly. The staff are like family and show warmth, love and respect to all the residents and their families. My grandma has been so happy at Abbey Gate and loves the atmosphere and care she receives. The meals are excellent and there are plenty of activities to keep the residents active. I do not hesitate to recommend this home. It is wonderful.
Staff are efficient and professional and sociable. They are also friendly, polite and easy to speak to.
My elderly cousin was a resident of this care home and I am writing a review to endorse my feelings that she was well looked after during her time there. She was reluctant at first and slow to settle. She did, however, end her days there and was always happy and cheerful when I spoke to her regularly by telephone. She commented on how lovely the staff were and said the view from her room was very pleasant. The staff I encountered when I telephoned were always polite and sounded kind and caring. I am sure this enabled my cousin to remain safe and contented in her last few years.
This is the best care home that I have been in. The staff have created very much a caring atmosphere with a lovely and appropriate combination of love and homeliness. The physical condition of the home is comfortable. The members of staff are all incredible always seeing to the needs of their residents with consideration, great love and care. They take each person with such care and find it most natural to greet visitors sincerely and warmly making everyone so welcome at the home. I would find immense difficulty in faulting Abbey Gate Home.
Very good but my friend said the meals were not very good, but it is a good home no smells, clean and friendly,
Lovely home, very friendly staff. Lovely aspect.
My aunt has been at Abbey Gate for several years and I have taken my father and my mum to visit her on numerous occasions. The staff have always been friendly and have always welcomed us. They appear to have a strong relationship with the residents, more like a family than simply carers. The home is warm, light and airy and as welcoming as the staff.
I am an occasional visitor to the care home where my last surviving Aunt lives. From a layman's perspective, I am continually impressed by the appearance and attitude of the staff, the cleanliness of the home and the care which is given to my aunt.
My mother-in-law is receiving excellent appropriate care. She is relaxed and content in her environment where she is treated appropriately and with respect. All the staff are very caring and do all they can to ensure her comfort and well being.
