After my mother had been in hospital it became clear she was unable to return home and we would need to look for a care home. I was impressed when I phoned Alvony House Residential Care Home to book an appointment to view and told I could visit at 4.30 pm that day, time of my call was 4 pm. As soon as I arrived I was very impressed, first I was shown the sitting rooms and dining room, all the residents looked very happy. On seeing the room that was available, I could see Mum would be happy, lovely view looking across the park. Two days later, Mum is in her new home and very happy. I am sorry to say her time at Alvony House was short due to her health but she enjoyed every minute of her time there. A friend visited and Mum told her about the meals, activities and how lovely everything was, think that says it all. I know she enjoyed the activities and told me more than once about the lovely Sunday roast. Thank you to the staff and management for making Mum's last weeks perfect, you could not have done more.
My mum has been living at Alvony House Residential Care Home since June 2023 after several falls at home. She is well cared for by friendly helpful staff. They have lots of activities and sometimes go out on trips in the minibus. She loves sitting out in the pretty gardens and enjoys the food.
My grandma moved to Alvony House Residential Care Home in June 2023 which was such a hard decision to make moving her from her home but 100% the correct one. She took several weeks to settle in as her routine was different than being at home but the staff were amazing, helping with this and supporting her. The staff were also kind each time family members visited as understood it was also hard for us and a big change! My grandma is now really happy here, likes the staff, food, participating in daily activities and most of all, loves relaxing in the peaceful garden by the small water fountain and enjoying the lovely flowers. As a family, we know she is in good hands and can live each day knowing she is safe and happy. Highly recommend this care home.
Mum is really wel cared for. Her health is monitored and any concerns are promptly addressed. Excellent communication from the managers. Cheerful staff who retain an upbeat atmosphere. Excellent activities coordinator. The environment is always clean.
Moving a relative away from their home is hard. However, Alvony is a care home both in name and in nature. The staff are friendly, listen and know their jobs well. It looks, feels, and smells clean and is well-maintained. Full consideration given to residents and their families, with a good flow of communication from a place of genuine knowledge and expertise. I know my loved ones are respected and cared for on an individual basis. There is comfort that my parents have companionship, can take part in a broad range of activities, if they want to. Also, the chance to go on trips to local places of interest. Located close to the seafront, with a small park behind the home, the shops nearby provide somewhere to explore when visiting. I know my relatives are very well looked after, I have no hesitation in recommending Alvony to anyone in a similar circumstance to myself, with elderly parents who now require some everyday care and support, while maintaining a great quality of life.
Homely atmosphere, attentive staff on the whole. Caring management. Good food. Pretty garden.

Mom has been a resident at Alvony House for a few years. In March 2022, she suffered a bad fall which meant a hospital stay of about a week. Upon returning to the home, she has been treated with so much care and attention; you wouldn't know she had broken her hip. The staff have been wonderful and understanding and have kept us informed all the way with her progress. We see her almost every week, and she walks better every time.
When l visit my mother, she is always up and dressed and looking cheerful, and the staff are always friendly. Her room is always clean, and her bed is made with fresh bed linen. Her general appearance is good, and she always looks smart, especially when the hairdresser has visited the home. I have no cause for concern with regards to my mother being cared for at Alvony House.
My parents moved into Alvony House 18 months ago. Unfortunately, my father passed away in January. They were exceptionally kind to my mum during this difficult period. I have found the staff very friendly and helpful.
Staff are always warm, friendly, approachable, and helpful when I visit. I have witnessed staff being courteous, kind, and caring towards my mum, always taking time to have a chat. The past 2 years have been extremely challenging and the team at Alvony House Residential Care Home have coped admirably.
We moved our mother to Alvony House four months ago and we are delighted that we did. The care, kindness, and professionalism of the management and their staff is excellent. They ensured a smooth transition from Mum's previous care home and have supported her whilst she settled into her new environment. As a family, we have been impressed and confident in their dealing with covid and their determination to keep their residents safe. We would unreservedly recommend Alvony House to others.
On searching for various homes in the Clevedon area for my Grandma my mum picked Alvony House as it was by far the one that felt most like home. My Grandma had a lovely en-suite room which she only briefly stayed in before she sadly passed away due to existing health complications. The staff were very kind and caring during this time and especially during Grandma's final moments, as it was quite sudden and unexpected. When it came to choosing a home for my other Grandma due to her failing health there was no other option for us but Alvony. The Deputy Manager carried out a thorough assessment and concluded that Grandma had increased care needs which sadly could not be met at Alvony. The Deputy continued to carry out medical observations on Grandma and came to the conclusion that she required hospital attention. Following this, the Deputy attempted to try and help us get Grandma admitted to hospital for treatment. Alvony House go above and beyond for all those in need.
My Dad used respite care in August 2020 for 10 days in Alvony House. My Dad is an 86-year-old gentleman with Dementia and does not speak any English. The manager and the staff did their absolute best to communicate with Dad in his language. They all learnt basic words to speak to Dad. It did help him to settle. Dad was very well looked after and I knew was in good, capable hands.
The manager played a very important part in removing my wife from an unsatisfactory hospital situation. Considerable effort was used to overcome my wife's personal problems arising from inadequate hospital treatment in its recovery unit. Subsequent care and attention at Alvony House has been excellent. Alvony House disciplines during the virus crisis have been good and I understand without incidents.
Mum has been a resident at Alvony House for nearly a year now. Despite being fiercely independent Mum has settled into the home very well; she enjoys the company and appreciates the help she receives every day. The transition from the privacy of your own home to a “community” can be daunting for anyone but the owners and staff at Alvony made Mum feel comfortable and safe right from the start. I have seen, at first hand, how caring and attentive they are with her and she tells me frequently how lovely her carers are. This is wonderful to hear and gives me and my brothers and sister much comfort, especially at this time when we are unable to visit and hug our loved ones as much as we would love to do. Thank you to all the people at Alvony House who take care of our Mum.
