View Full Details of HeathwoodMy Mum had been at Heathwood for just over 2 years. During this time I have nothing but praise for all the staff, from the cleaners who keep the home clean and tidy, the clean clothes that are returned daily, the chefs and of course all the care staff. The food is homecooked and always plentiful, the homemade cakes are amazing and definitely something my Mum was very keen on. The garden was a calm and nice space to sit in the sun with plenty of shade available when needed. The singer that visits on a Tuesday afternoon is always popular and you can see that the residents really enjoy the music. If Mum was unwell they would always contact the GP quickly and contact the family to make us aware. My Mum was never one for joining in if activities were on, the staff would always try, but she preferred to sit and watch. As Mums dementia declined she could be difficult to deal with, but the staff were always patient and allowed Mum to do things in her own time, including a lye in! A home from home!
My mum came into Heathwood for respite when it was lockdown, and when Mum became more unwell in January 2023, Mum went from hospital into Heathwood again for respite. After a best interest meeting, it was decided Mum needed full-time care. We chose to keep Mum in Heathwood because of the amazing team that work here and the facilities. I have been in care homes that have no tea-making facilities where residents can help themselves. They also have lots of activities.
Staff very helpful and accommodating, always happy to help with a problem, nothing ever too much trouble. Food is amazing especially cup cakes on a Tuesday afternoon when we visit.
They look after my nan very well, very caring and when I am upset they look after me and my young son, they let him play games with my nan.
My friend is content, never mentions home, always clean, well dressed and has improved physically since being in here.
The manager is amazing and always available to help and answer any questions. All the staff are excellent, and treat all residents with respect and dignity. Nothing is too much trouble. Like one big happy family. Relatives/visitors are always made to feel welcome. There are activities to keep residents interested. Rooms are extremely good. Meals are all home-cooked and first-class. Homemade cakes every afternoon with tea and coffee. The garden is lovely and accessible to all at any time. I am always kept fully informed about everything to do with my husband. The care and understanding is second to none. Recommend Heathwood 100%. Would choose no other care home.
Heathwood is a wonderful home to live in. It is fresh, clean, homely, and friendly, with amazing staff who treat every resident with respect and lots of love and as individuals with their own needs. It's a very happy place with a lovely atmosphere. My father-in-law is very well looked after and is thriving. He has been there nearly four years, and his words are 'I'm content and happy. The food is excellent, and I'm so well looked after.' The manager treats everyone as her own family, as does the deputy, and nothing is too much trouble. Each member of staff across the whole home is efficient, warm and friendly, and you can see how fond they are of every resident and all love what they do. Myself and my wife and all the family have always been made so welcome, in fact, my wife calls it her 2nd home. We are so grateful for everything they do. The great-grandchildren are making so many memories there with their grandad; they enjoy their visits, especially the parties. I would recommend Heathwood 100% to anyone.
My mum sadly passed away recently and the love, care, dignity and patience shown by the manager and her staff was absolutely amazing. They are remarkable and also looked after me with so much compassion and love. I'm truly grateful Mum spent her final years at Heathwood with my dad who they are now helping through his grieving process. They are truly wonderful and the manager goes above and beyond for her residents. I can never thank them enough.
The care that my dearest friend received was amazing. The staff, especially the manager and one other were completely amazing and extremely professional. The understanding of my friend's condition was also prevalent. I could not recommend Heathwood enough. My husband and I are very grateful for how our dear friend was cared for until she left the home and went to the hospital where she passed away peacefully.
Heathwood is a well run home. The managers are efficient and are always available. There really is a lovely homely atmosphere and you are made to feel very welcome by all the staff. My Mother's room is always extremely clean. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to care for the residents. At times it's like a party atmosphere. The garden is lovely with shaded and sunny areas. The kettle is always on for tea or coffee. Always a choice of homecooked food which my Mother enjoys! She says she is really happy and the staff are like angels.
Everything is excellent. The staff are lovely. The home is really kept clean. The food is excellent, choice of food. Entertainment is good. All my washing and ironing is done for me. The staff are kind and gentle and they have a great sense of humour. The garden is lovely to sit in and it has plenty of shade. We have our own dog. I am very happy here.
The staff and managemnt team are excellent and my friend is very well cared for. There have been challenging times but the whole team have been highly professional. The room is ample for my friend's needs. My friend enjoys the food provided although she is never really hungry, she is promoted to eat. My friend likes the experience of the home as she feels she couldn't cope on her own.
The care home is very helpful and understanding with both family of residents and the residents themselves. Also, nothing is too much trouble, overall a fantastic home. I would definitely recommend this care home as they are always there to help with any questions or queries.
When my mum had to go into a "home", I was heartbroken and very worried as I really didn't like any residential care home that I had been to visit. My mind soon changed when I spent time with Mum. The love and care that were shown to Mum were exemplary, and they went out of their way to try and help her to be happy. Because of this, she grew to love than as well - what a wonderful group of people they are.
Although my mum has only been a resident here for approximately eight weeks, her care, love and support by all members of the staff have been absolutely excellent. It's like one big happy family - nothing is too much trouble. My mum is looking so much better since being here. Thank you so very, very much for giving my brother and myself peace of mind knowing she is so well cared for.
I have nothing but praise and thanks to give to Heathwood Care home during the three years and three months Mum was here. Lovely carers, excellent management, clean, homely, happy and relaxed atmosphere. Great communication about any issues with my mum and there were hardly any as she was very happy here and so well looked after. She had a lovely room and the home is really well laid out with a big bright dining area looking out onto the lovely garden. thank you to everyone at Heathwood for everything you have done for Mum, I can't thank you enough.
I'm very happy with Mums situation and care in the home.
We fought with every fiber for Mum not to be put into care. In the end, it was taken out of our hands and she was sent to Heathwood. Heathwood is not the prettiest, nor up to date with modern state-of-the-art facilities. But what Heathwood has is heart, compassion, friendliness, kindness, and understanding. Mum's room often has other people's clothes in it and not much of her own, but her room is beautiful, clean, warm, and homely. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
My mum has been living at Heathwood for a few months now and although concerned how she would adapt we were overjoyed to how she has settled in. Each visit we are so pleased to see Mum smiling and laughing. the staff I am sure would be working hard to create the equilibrium, and happy environment, we consistently see to support the residents. The home is always clean, cheerful staff, rooms tidy and treated with dignity and respect. Mym has been has a trip out in the mini bus and spending time with other residents, so have come out of her shell. There are quiet areas and areas to engage with others. An example of what you envisage a care home to be.
My much-loved friend has been a resident at Heathwood for about two years. At the beginning of her stay, I was not able to visit because of Covid restrictions, but I was always able to chat with her on the phone and deliver gifts for her. Now that I am able to visit and indeed take her out, this has become a weekly event. I ring each week to book our outing. The staff have always been really friendly and totally accommodating. When I visit there is a friendly and caring atmosphere in the home. My friend seems to be really content and it is obvious that the staff are fond of her - which means a lot to me. One of my delights is seeing how she is welcomed back after our weekly outings! It feels as though I am taking her back to a place where she is happy and loved.
