View Full Details of Mendip LodgeMy husband was a resident of Mendip Lodge for more than 3 months in 2024. He was recovering from a fall followed by a long stay in hospital. As soon as I stepped into Mendip Lodge I knew it was the right place for him. It's homely, warm and everyone was friendly. When the manager said they could take him a huge worry was lifted from me. To this day I can't thank the manager enough. All the staff were caring, cheerful and very hard working. The food was freshly cooked every day and as my husband's health improved he enjoyed all of it and looked forward to mealtimes. The staff looked after every aspect of his personal care and he was very well cared for. I knew he was in safe hands and that meant such a lot to me. He is now home and doing well. Thank you to all the staff, without exception, for looking after him so well.
The care home staff have been fantastic. My father has been in the care home for over 12 months, they made him welcome from day one, sadly he has deteriorated in that period due to his condition but the care home adapted to him. What is also good he has consistency with the same staff at the lodge.
My father has been a resident of Mendip Lodge for over 18 months. He suffers from Alzheimer's and is 95 years of age. The care and support he receives at Mendip Lodge is outstanding. I live a distance away, and it is comforting to know how well he is cared for by all the staff at Mendip Lodge. The food is fresh and cooked daily to an excellent standard. The staff are all so very supportive of Dad, they have worked at the home for many years, which gives him familiarity. His life is comfortable and safe and he is happy. Well done to all the staff at Mendip Lodge.
Have found the staff excellent, always ready to help. My aunt tells me the food is good and she looks forward to fish & chips on Friday. The recent garden refurbishment is great. With level access from paving to add to the turf.
My mum is very happy and settled here. She is well cared for and the staff know her and her needs well. The staff are very friendly and caring, to all the family as well as my mum. The food is freshly home cooked, a variety of activities are provided and in addition to plenty of inside space for the residents, there is a lovely garden.
This is a first-class care home with great staff. All seem to be content and happy. Food is good. I am happy that my wife has all her needs catered for. I am made to feel welcome during visits. Inside and outside are to a good standard.
My aunt has been here for a few weeks. She is well cared for and very happy. The staff keep you well informed of how things are going with my aunt. She is enjoying the company of the other residents and the care she is receiving.
Generally, it is a very welcoming atmosphere, whenever I visit my mother. The garden party was well organised, but I'm not sure if it achieved the objective of promoting the Pods. I'm not sure if they achieved their design as they appear very small for the price.
I had to put my mother into a facility for respite care and Mendip Lodge was suggested. We are so lucky as this place is fantastic. The staff are great and are very caring. The food is great and Mum is looked after amazingly. This is a smaller facility than other care homes which makes it a nicer choice. I would recommend Mendip Lodge to anybody thinking of putting their parents into care.
Ever since the mother-in-law has been in the home since 2023 she seems very settled with the surroundings and staff. We are all very happy with care at the home, and we are all more relaxed with her care and well-being.
My mother came to Mendip Lodge for an emergency week of respite care, found for us by North Somerset Social Services, following a fall (a fracture) while we sorted some homecare out. We are all so grateful for the wonderful care and support shown to Mum and, in fact, to all of us (my dad and myself were really reassured and supported too). We cannot speak highly enough of the fantastic staff. One staff member in particular was so helpful and gave us lots of advice and all the staff worked really hard to make my mum comfortable and welcome for her short stay. You were very accommodating and lovely with her many visitors too! You all really helped us in what was a very stressful time. It’s good to know we can return for respite if needed in future!
My father came to Mendip Lodge earlier in the summer as things were getting difficult at home with my mother trying to support him with his dementia and other health issues. Obviously, it was a big step for both my parents, but I chose this particular care home as, after visiting a number of others, it was by far the best for cleanliness and the general feeling of well-being with staff interacting in a warm relaxed and friendly manner with residents in a large living area that reminded me of a country hotel in Scotland. I now visit my father several times a week and I am very happy with the choice I made, as although he has a number of conditions making his care challenging, the staff approach this in a professional yet compassionate manner, and I can be sure that he is getting his medication and that I will be informed of any problems. Most importantly, my father is content, too.
Dad has been at Mendip Lodge for almost two years and has always been well cared for by the team, which was especially important to us as a family during the difficult Covid lockdowns when we were unable to see him regularly. He is a proud man and can be challenging at times, as he is well aware of all that is happening to him and his physical deterioration, but the team work very hard to attend to all his needs and approach him with genuine care and compassion. The coordination with local health services is excellent and I feel a genuine three-way management of his needs led by Mendip Lodge, working closely with the GP and family input. The team at Mendip Lodge is well established and experienced, and that makes a big difference in the day-to-day continuity of his care and understanding Dad’s particular needs.
My father has been in Mendip Lodge for 18 months and we have always found the staff very caring despite him being difficult at times. It is nice that staff turnover seems to be low and there is continuity if care, especially during lockdowns.
Excellent respite care. Mum came out much better than she went in. Care, help and encouragement were very good and her improvement reflected this. The home was also able to react quickly when I was looking for a place urgently. Overall a very positive experience.
My stepmother left a care home to move to Mendip Lodge. She has made great progress in such little time. The welcome we received is very much like a family home. We know she is well cared for. Great staff, very understanding. Thank you.
Mum has settled in well and is enjoying activities and meals. She loves the guinea pigs and the piano. The manager was very careful to learn about my mum before she moved here and that has helped her move.
I found Mendip Lodge was a small friendly care home which is well managed by management and staff. My aunt was in Mendip Lodge for nearly 6 years and in that time her dementia got progressively worse and she could be very difficult at times. The carers would never know what to expect. However, all the staff from the manager down to the cleaners, managed to cope with my aunt in a caring and considerate way at all times. Whenever I visited or phoned, staff were always ready to keep me up to date on how my aunt was. I was really impressed with how they coped with Covid and kept everyone well and safe. I found the carers especially caring in my aunt's last few weeks of life. Many thanks to everyone.
After a fall and stay in hospital and increasingly being unable to cope at home, as a family we decided with my nan that she needed more care. As soon as I saw photos of Mendip Lodge I thought it looked perfect. Being unable to visit due to Covid, the manager immediately sent me a video of the home and was really helpful. The move couldn't have been smoother and my nan, always having been reluctant to enter residential care, loved it immediately. All of the staff including the manager were welcoming and friendly and are always happy to answer any questions. The home itself is homely and has a great feel and happy atmosphere. There are activities for those who want to be involved, including singsongs, pumpkin carving and the guinea pigs which my nan has held. The care is person-centred and my nan feels as part of their family. My nan is the happiest she has been in years and said herself she couldn't have chosen anywhere better. I cannot thank the manager and his staff enough.
Staff are welcoming, come to say hello to you when you visit. At the end of life for my Nan, they were very considerate and kept me informed. Any questions I had they were at ease to answer. Also took extra care for my nan's partner in making sure he was managing with his loss, giving support along the way.
