View Full Details of Somerset HouseAs a family we're very pleased with how well Mum is since she's been at Somerset House. She takes part in all activities that are provided, is sociable with residents and staff, and her overall wellbeing has improved tremendously. Any questions we have are always answered, and to know that the staff there are 24/7 is very reassuring for us. They take very good care of Mum and we feel fortunate to have found this home for her. It feels very homely and Mum has settled in well. Our thanks to all concerned. A lovely place!
We always feel very welcome to visit at any time and are invited to any special events. Carol concert at Christmas was lovely. Our friend is very content and feels secure. She says moving in was a very good decision.
A bright and calm environment where my mother has felt sage and very much at home, which has given me peace of mind.
My mother has been welcomed into the home, and whatever request to settle mum in has been met. As a family are welcome at any time of day, usually with a cup of tea. Very polite staff, nothing is too much bother, good old fashioned service.
I have found Somerset House very clean, helpful and supportive to my mother since she decided to live there. The home has many activities for the residents and my mother has been well cared for during her time staying there.
Somerset House was excellent for my wife (who has Frontal lobe Dementia) for a respite care week. The staff were brilliant, friendly and welcoming, which put my wife at ease by showing her the facilities, her large room, light and airy with a comfortable bed, armchair and TV with her personal belongings, and a lovely small garden by her window and a large garden near the dining area. There were many diverse and communal daily activities to participate in at her discretion, meet other residents or stay in her room, and she also loved the tasty varied meals. She remarked that staying there was lovely, homely, friendly and helpful with a nice trip in a coach. I thank all the staff for their professionalism, patience and considerable understanding for her first time in a care home, making her stay enjoyable and stress-free. She quickly settled into the warm, caring atmosphere. I would recommend this friendly care home to any family member. I was also most impressed by the Somerset House newsletters.
My mother moved to Somerset House in August 2020 following an accident, rendering her unable to walk without aid and unable to look after herself and maintain her personal dignity as she would have wished. She arrived in the middle of a "lockdown" and after a lengthy journey from Kent. I was so impressed at the way she was greeted, made comfortable in her at the time compulsory isolation quarters and the superb one to one attention she received during the whole quarantine period. Since moving into her room in the main home, she has quickly settled into the warm, caring atmosphere. She and I find the staff friendly, professional and with an understanding of what gives my mother a meaningful and dignified life. Her physical, medical and intellectual wellbeing is I know regularly reviewed. For a 97-year-old with a sharp and sometimes discerning mind to say, if she has to be in care, then Somerset House is where she will stay, that's a testament in itself.
The staff are wonderful, very patient and always treat residents with respect. I am very pleased with the management as they keep me up to date with appointments and changes. The staff always welcome me in. Would recommend to any family member.
Very good experience with all aspects of Somerset House, all staff contact and interaction. Friendly, nice atmosphere. They have also done an exceptional job during lockdown during some very difficult times.
Somerset House was a warm, friendly and homely place. The garden was a pleasure for all. My husband often said how well he was looked after by the staff or (the girls as he called them). My family and I were so impressed with how warm and caring everyone was, especially through the difficult times of the Covid-19 epidemic.
We give Somerset House the highest recommendation! The staff's genuine and dedicated care for the residents is admirable and a true example to all of how to care for an ageing community! The atmosphere is that of a close-knit family, and the staff always put the residents first to ensure the best quality of life for everyone at all times. Not only can the residents enjoy their lovely rooms, the range of public spaces and the super garden, but they also greatly benefit from a programme of diverse, engaging activities daily, with additional events throughout the year, connecting residents to the local community. The experience and expertise of the Somerset House manager and team, combined with their dedicated, thoughtful, friendly and empathetic approach make it a place that one would choose without hesitation, even when one is not yet at that point in life. Somerset House is a true gem!
I find this a happy and secure place to live and am very happy to call it my home. We have a wide variety of activities and I especially like the flexercise sessions which end with various word games to keep our minds active.
The care home is very proactive. They understand my mother's needs and waste no time in putting the wheels in motion to ensure these are met. The staff are always very professional, kind and attentive.
Mum ended up in Somerset House after a fall at the age of 92. She is happy there although she is fed up with the day to day struggle. She is 93 now and has had Parkinson's for some years now. Somerset House looks after her very well and the food is very good. There are lots of activities, minibus trips and ice cream every Monday in the summer. They have flexersize most days, skittles, bowls, board games, craft afternoons plus visiting groups. She is often tired when I visit!! The home is very clean and staff are very friendly and caring they don't rush her to do things. Parkinson's makes life very difficult.
As a respite resident, I have been extremely well looked after. The staff have been wonderful and very caring. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My room was very comfortable and was kept spotlessly clean and I would recommend it to anyone.
Very good home cooked food, Mum was always well dressed, hair tidy and looked clean every time I visited (most weeks at least five visits). Mum was also very happy here with the trips and activities.
In my view, Somerset House is an outstanding care home. It has staff who care operate as an effective and friendly and make time to ensure individual residents are given the opportunity to enjoy their lives. The activities are brilliant and the home/rooms are kept clean and tidy. Staff are always approachable and respond quickly to the needs of the residents.
We could not be more satisfied with all aspects of Mum's care at Somerset House. It's an outstanding home.
My mother has been a resident of Somerset House for almost 3 years. Since the moment I walked into the home to look round, I knew it was the right place for my mother. Even when I made my first call I was told to pop in whenever it was convenient for me and I would be shown around. This I did, and my mother was a resident there 2 weeks later. From Day 1 she has been looked after in a totally exemplary way with extreme care and kindness despite her gradual decline in mental powers over the last few years. She is now 95 years old and totally bed-ridden, but she continues to be looked after by all the staff in a way that I can't praise highly enough, and I trust them all implicitly. I have visited many care and residential homes over the years, and I can quite honestly say that Somerset House stands out head and shoulders above all of them. The residents are treated with total respect and there is a fantastic range of activities organised for them. My mum couldn't be in a better place.
Being a resident of 8 1/2 years found the attention, food and care consistent.
