View Full Details of The GroveMum has recently moved to The Grove following a dementia diagnosis. I consider that we, as a family are very lucky to have found this care home. All the staff are amazing and I cannot fault their care to mum.
My mum recently passed away following 4 years at The Grove, she had severe dementia and could barely communicate. She arrived at The Grove during the Pandemic Lockdown and initially isolated herself in her bedroom. One of the carers was fantastic with her and encouraged her to go downstairs and integrate with the other residents. Although my mum's dementia didn't improve her general wellbeing improved massively. She was much happier and went from always being in her room to spending all of her time downstairs watching what was happening and enjoying the activities even though she couldn't take part herself. All of the staff were supportive and encouraging. When my my mum became very ill in November 2024, the carer once again was fantastic looking after her needs and providing comfort and care at the end of her life. Thank you to this carer and all the staff who helped through her last years.
My father is content in the home. The staff are kind and ensure he is looked after. The care has been particularly good during his recent illness and requests we have made to support him have been followed up immediately. The range of activities offered to residents has been really improved in recent months.
Mum has been a resident here for 3 years. I couldn't be happier with the care she has received. The staff are always so welcoming and I feel that they are always happy to help with anything my mum may need. Mum is happy and safe, that is the most important thing I can say about her new home.
As a family, we have been very gratified by the care taken of our dad at the Grove, Winterbourne. We feel the staff team has tried hard to get to know what works well for Dad and have tried hard to help us come to terms with his increasingly complex needs and life in the care home. We would like to see more comfortable chairs in the quiet room where Dad feels most at ease.
Mum has been a resident here for over two years. In that time she has become very fond of the excellent staff who care for her. Sadly I am becoming concerned about the amount of time Mum's carers now have to actually engage with her. Weekends are noticeably short-staffed. There were four staff on today which surely is not enough to look after over thirty residents as well as serve their meals and snacks throughout the day. Is there a legal requirement on the staff-to-client ratio?
My impression is that The Grove is well run with an adequate number of staff, who all act professionally. They treat the residents with kindness and respect. There is, however, a problem with the clothing situation. Laundry is outsourced to another company but frequently Mum's clothing goes missing (even though all labelled clearly as requested by management). The system in place seems complicated around laundry between The Grove and the company the laundry is outsourced to. The prospectus, before COVID, included minibus trips. It would be great if these could be restarted. Currently, expansion of The Grove is proceeding with a presumed increase in number of residents. Communal rooms are pretty small currently - are there plans to increase these?
Mum has been a resident here for over 3 years and I can honestly say they have been very happy ones! Nothing is too much trouble when looking after the residents at The Grove and I do feel Mum's welfare is always put first. We are always made to feel very welcome when visiting or taking Mum out, even at short notice. Mum's room is spotless and kept very clean and tidy as is the rest of the communal areas. There are always activities that residents can be involved in and music is regularly played which Mum loves and often sings along with. The Grove was our first choice when looking for somewhere for Mum and we are so glad she has settled in so well and really feels at home there. Thank you to everyone for their hard work and care, it really does show and makes a difference.
Excellent welcoming and settling in for the client and his family. The staff are friendly, caring and listen. Feeling reassured he will be as happy as possible.
My Dad has been a resident of The Grove since January 2023 and I have been a regular visitor since then. I cannot commend highly enough the care and support that my Dad has continued to receive. I am always updated on any changes to his care plan by the management team. I have got to know many members of staff over the last 15 months. I have the utmost respect for their joyful interaction with the residents and the dedicated care they provide. The family were amazed when I circulated a video of my Dad singing and dancing to live music, something he hasn't done in a long while! The Grove was recommended to me when his dementia meant his needs and behaviour could not be managed at home. It was absolutely the right choice.
Very pleasant afternoon spent having a Halloween party seeing my sister-in-law very happy.
We had a very enjoyable day at the care home. They had arranged a Halloween party. Most of the people joined in the festivities there was music and dancing and those who couldn't get up to dance just sat and clapped and enjoyed the music. Later on, there was a singer to entertain everyone he was very good at getting the residents to join in with the singing. The staff were marvellous in encouraging the residents to join in. The staff all joined in as well to make a most enjoyable day. We went home happy and content that our sister was happy and well looked after.
The door was opened with a wonderful smile and I was shown inside. Things were going on and music was playing in the background. Residents and staff were engaging and they were getting ready for their seasonal party. There was a lovely energy. The staff weren't too busy as they passed to say hello and refreshments were offered. I must say a huge thank you for making me so welcome it was so nice to see everyone co producing and supporting each other.
Mum came to stay at The Grove towards the end of the Covid pandemic. She was in the early stages of dementia, confused and in poor health. Now her general health is much improved, she is settled and very happy with the excellent care she receives. The staff are warm and friendly so as a visitor I am made to feel welcome when I visit. Overall I feel confident that Mum is looked after very well in a clean, comfortable home by people who know her and care about her.
My mum moved to The Grove in December 2022. It was a huge upheaval for her and also all the family members. All the staff made it as smooth a transition as possible, from allowing us to make her room as homely as possible and gaining as much background information about her as they could. This allows the staff to give that much-needed person-centred care. They have really made the home as much of a second home for us as a family by allowing us to visit whenever we wish. I know as a daughter how difficult it is to make that difficult decision when choosing a home for a loved one but The Grove really gives you that comfort and peace of mind knowing your loved one is safe and being well cared for which is all down to the manager and her hard working dedicated team.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The Grove really feels like home from home and makes all the residents feel welcome.
My dad has been a resident of The Grove Care Home for dementia on a respite placement following a family crisis. It hasn’t been easy for Dad, with a change of environment and the challenges his dementia can bring. I cannot express how grateful we are, as a family, for the level of service and professionalism that both Dad and the family have received from the team at The Grove. We have been welcomed at any time and find the environment bright, caring and homely. It's never an issue to discuss Dad with carers and management which has given us the reassurance that he is receiving the best care possible.
My mum is happy here and I like the fact that there is always staff around, who are friendly and caring. It's really good that there are a variety of rooms for residents to use, the music room seems to be a favourite for several of the residents.
