View Full Details of The GroveMy father is now a permanent resident after initially being at The Grove for respite. All the staff have been very caring in settling my father in and encouraging him to join in with the different activities. Every member of staff is aware of my father's needs and when he requires additional care. They are always available to help and reassure him. The Grove regularly communicates with me about his health or if anything further is needed to make him comfortable. It is with great pleasure that I find The Grove extremely inclusive when both internal and external activities are available. Visiting regularly, I feel a welcome member of the community, staff, residents and visitors alike. I would highly recommend this residential home.
My mum took respite at The Grove for two weeks after being in hospital for 6 weeks. She is now a permanent resident, she is happy well cared for and very comfortable. The care she receives is second to none and has put the whole family at ease knowing she is safe and well. All the staff work extremely hard and nothing is too much trouble, the cleaners, carers, chef, management and not to forget the maintenance man who does a wonderful job keeping everything top notch. Well done to you all.
I have remained in contact with the staff at The Grove after their excellent care of my father, I cannot express enough thanks to the manager and the rest of the team for the support of both his needs towards the end of his life and our needs as a family. If anyone is looking for a true care home then you will find it in Charlestown at The Grove. The staff were kind and caring, the catering staff couldn't do enough for my father, we were even able to bring his Siamese cat in to visit him, which brought him such joy. The manager and assistant manager were so helpful with advice and support. I will never forget their kindness and they have shown me what it is to provide unconditional support at a very difficult time - simply the best people you could ever wish to meet. My father wasn't able to involve himself in many activities so I have not rated it, but from what I have observed they are very comprehensive and ability-appropriate with lots of variety.
Mum has been a resident at The Grove for over 2 years and whilst it was a very difficult decision, Mum enjoyed her respite with The Grove prior to becoming a permanent resident. The staff are so lovely and caring not only to Mum but all of us when we visit. I am updated on any changes in care or issues with Mum as they arise. We couldn't have asked for a more caring 'home from home' environment. Thank you.
The staff at The Grove really do go above and beyond. My aunt has been at The Grove for just over a year and I really can't fault it, we are all made to feel so welcome it really is like one big family. My aunt was worried about going into a home but the manager and deputy made it such an easy transition, all the staff were very welcoming. The activities are very good and the family are always invited to get involved. On my aunt's birthday, a party was held in the home which we all attended, it was truly lovely. Thank you to each and every one of you for all you do.
Dad will be at The Grove for 3 years next month. All of the carers and other staff treat the residents with a huge amount of compassion and respect. My dad has Parkinson's and vascular dementia and has had a significant stroke so his needs have changed considerably in the 3 years and his care adapts accordingly. The carers are brilliant at communicating and always ready to help and understand a problem. I feel the staff genuinely care for my dad and the other residents and manage their individual needs with expertise. It's a bit like a second family for me and my dad and I would not want him placed anywhere else.
The Grove. Simply the best care home in St Austell. My father was at The Grove between April-November 2024. The care he received was exceptional. All the staff were so good, caring and understanding for all my father's needs. My father was not the easiest, he could be quite demanding at times, but the staff showed professionalism and patience with him and jollied him through each day. Myself and my family were always made to feel very welcome, like one big family really. I was happy and could relax a little knowing that he was being looked after so well by the staff. What my father enjoyed was all the activities laid on at the home for the residents, there is always something going on. The staff work hard to meet all the residents' needs. "Thank you so much", to all the staff.
Very difficult making a decision for a parent as to how they can be best supported and cared for when they have dementia and have always been very independent. The management and staff have been fantastic. Mum is always praising them. They have ensured her room is comfortable and homely. They have given her appropriate support and respected her independence. It is a relief to know she is safe.
Our mum has been a resident at The Grove for just over two years. The staff are very friendly and caring, and you are always made to feel welcome when you visit. I can honestly say our mum's health has greatly improved due to the high level of care she receives. Staff are always happy to help and treat people very respectfully.
My gran is here. And it's such a lovely home. Me and my mum searched nearly every care home in Cornwall to find the right place for my gran. The Grove is such a lovely place. Office doors are open so you can chat with management. My daughter finishes school and pops in to see her great gran. It's like a hotel but also home to home. All the staff are lovely and treat each and every one with respect. Staff are always friendly and around. Even the cleaning staff and the brilliant chef.
I visited nearly every residential home in Cornwall to find a suitable home for Mum but knew fairly quickly when entering the Grove this was the home for Mum. We were greeted by the manager who showed us around. All staff are friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. Residents are treated with care, dignity and respect. Staff, care, management, facilities, activities, cleanliness, rooms, food are all first-class. I cannot praise everything regarding this home enough it gives me peace of mind knowing Mum is so well cared for. Mum says she can't fault anything.
I have to start by saying that my Mother had a new lease of life when she went into the Grove Care Home, she made friends with other residents quickly and was much less isolated than when she was stuck at home in a small village. Staff were always kind and friendly and gave her as much support as she asked for. She was keen on the food and did get involved with some activities especially if they involved music. The person who organised the activities is a star staff member in my opinion, she not only organised the weekly programme of activities, but also Christmas parties and resident Birthday celebrations, I was very grateful to her and other staff for organising my mother's post-funeral tea party. My mother took to doing bits and pieces in the garden, staff supported her in this. The management had been unable to find a permanent gardener to keep paths clear for strolls by residents, mend handrails etc, but that has now been rectified. I was well supported too. Thank you.
In May this year, I needed to find a permanent Care Home for my mother due to her health deteriorating. This was a worrying time for the family. We visited The Grove and discussed mum's needs and the possibility of her becoming a resident there. The staff and residents all appeared welcoming and caring so we arranged for mum to move in. From that moment onwards I have nothing but praise, thanks and respect for the whole team at the Grove. They show genuine care and attention to mum and have done all they can to make her transition from living alone to being a resident in a care home as smooth as possible. Mum is now settled, her quality of life has improved and as a family we know she is being cared for and in a safe place. Thank you to all at The Grove
My mum had 2 weeks rest bite at The Grove. We are very pleased to say we were extremely pleased with her care all round from the staff to the meals and care she received. We would not hesitate to use The Grove for respite again.
My mother spent a month in respite care at The Grove, during which time she underwent a cataract operation. The general standard of care, together with the post-operative care and support, meant that we extended her stay further and she appears better and happier now than she did two years previously. Mum has since decided that she thinks she 'wants to stay here'.
It is easy to give a 5-star review for this care home. I have visited my gran on a few occasions now and she has settled in well. From my perspective, the staff are amazing, they all work so hard to please the residents and to give them all the best possible care. My nan has no time to read as there is so much to do with a day full of activities! From what I have been told the food is to a high standard, the highlight of this week was an amazing cherry cheesecake. It is always concerning when a member of your family leaves their home and goes into care. If you are looking for a home for your loved one, rest assured that they couldn’t be in a better place. To all the staff at The Grove, thank you for all that you do.
Grandma moved into the home at the beginning of the year, after Grandad died. She has always been a very strong and independent lady, so moving out of her family home and losing Grandad at the same time was a very big deal for her. The Grove has made Grandma feel very welcome - she is looked after really well and has settled in nicely! The staff are very attentive and they take very good care of the residents. There are quite often quizzes, games and other activities for their enjoyment. Grandma is having a lovely time. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all the wonderful staff at The Grove. You are always very accommodating of any visitors and I genuinely believe Grandma is in very safe hands. You are incredibly lovely people.
As soon as I walked into The Grove, I knew it was the place for Mum. She was only there for a short time before she passed away but during that time the staff were wonderful. She spent her last days with people that really cared and helped her. The whole place was spotless and well-maintained. Thank you to all at The Grove, you not only cared for Mum but helped me too. I will always be grateful to you all.
On arrival, when the staff opened the front door, they said good morning and asked us to do a lateral flow test and were given a mask to wear. We were taken to my mother's room, staff member knocked and waited for a reply before entering. The room smelt clean and fresh, as did the whole home. When we asked if we could go out, the staff got my mother ready. We found the staff polite and they couldn't do enough throughout our visit. I found all the staff had a smile and were chatting to other residents. Overall, a good home.
I booked into the Grove for two weeks after a hip replacement operation. I chose my room and was offered every possible care. The staff were very considerate and understanding of my needs. I left rested, refreshed and relatively mobile. My overall impression was of a friendly, family atmosphere.
