View Full Details of The Manse Care HomeWhat can I say? Since my mother was diagnosed and then required constant care, I was naturally nervous about what the future held for my mother. Recent media coverage of these homes was not good either. Still, it had to be done. Meeting the staff was encouraging and I was soon won over. My mother could not have been a better alternative to her decreasing health and lifestyle. The staff are simply the best. Each and every time I have visited my mother, staff have shown genuine care and consideration towards all of the residents, including my mother, nothing seems too much trouble, even under the occasional crisis. The staff always have time to speak and I have never felt that I have been 'in the way'. More recently, my own health is causing a few problems but they are still happy to spend time on the phone or by email, updating my mother's condition. All in all, The Manse is a place where I am happy that my mother is being cared for and would recommend the home to anyone.
Our Mum moved in July 2019 to The Manse. If you are looking for the best care by the greatest team of people who understand the needs of those who have dementia-related conditions then look no further. There are no fancy views, lush gardens or grand entrances here, just really good care delivered by a very happy and caring team of professionals. The Manse is clean, well kept and fully supports both the residents and their families. They are always welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Our Mum settled within a couple of days, which was amazing to witness and totally unexpected. She uses her room as a bedroom only, although large enough for an easy chair, TV and ensuite she chooses to spend her days socialising with other residents. The change in her happiness and general well-being is so marked, she has the company of others around her who are similarly affected and this makes life so much easier for her, they sit chat, dance, listen to music. It's great!
Mum moved to the care home 7 months ago after it became obvious that she was unable to stay safely in her own home with increasing needs due to Alzheimers and risk of further falls. My sister and I, on looking around, both instantly knew this was the right care home for our mum. It felt homely, welcoming and a friendly atmosphere. Although it felt a massive step, Mum settled very quickly and it became obvious that she was happy and felt secure and well supported. We visit regularly and are always greeted by a friendly face (also welcoming my dog with whom mum has always had close contact). We are kept well informed on any current matters and changes. Mum's room is lovely and kept beautifully clean and is her own personal space, the communal areas are well maintained and have a lovely home from home feel about them too. A lovely care home, attentive staff which I would definitely recommend to others.
My partner and I regularly visited a very dear and close friend of ours who unfortunately had to go into a care home. But The Manse is like no other care home, the staff make you feel welcome and the work they do to make residents comfortable is outstanding. Our friend was a character and would sometimes be a bit difficult to handle due to his Alzheimer's but the staff knew how to calm him down and reassure him things were ok, even when he lost his wife. Unfortunately, our dear friend passed away a fortnight ago but we owe everything to The Manse in making his last days bearable. To the wonderful staff for everything, they did for him. We can't thank you enough. A wonderful place to go to be looked after.
My mum lived with the staff at The Manse for just under a year. It was heartbreaking having to put mum into a home, but she needed much more care than we could have provided. After I got used to the idea of mum being in a home (guilt on my part), I never worried about her, as the staff are so wonderful and caring, and they keep you updated with any health issues etc. I felt like it was my second home, as I visited mum at least 3 times a week and owe them many cups of tea! We looked at several homes, before deciding, but as soon as we walked into The Manse, it just felt right. Sadly, mum passed away but I can be happy in myself, that she had all the care she deserved in her final hours. The staff were wonderful to all the family, and very sensitive and supportive to us all. Keep up the good work, you are all amazing!
My father moved into this home as a crisis bed from a very long stay in the hospital. It was a very daunting process seeing your father deteriorate due to dementia. This care home had a vacant bed, I phoned and was invited to visit anytime. I was welcomed with a very warm reception from the manager. I was very emotional and she was very caring and gave me time. My Dad moved into The Manse a day later, his room is lovely. This home is very cosy and has a home from home feel. The staff are absolutely amazing, every single one of them is friendly and cannot do enough to support not only my Dad but myself too. I can honestly say that unfortunately we only ever hear horror stories of carers and homes in the media but I have certainly struck gold with this home. Even my Dad's furniture was welcomed and having an in-house maintenance person is brilliant with practical issues such as TVs etc. I would totally recommend this home and can finally sleep at night knowing my Dad is safe.
