View Full Details of Pengover Residential and Nursing HomeSince my mother arrived at Pengover House in December 2022. She has received the most wonderful care, so well looked after by all the staff. It is always a pleasure for me to visit. Such a happy and friendly place I would quite happily stay there myself. All the staff work extremely hard and are always lovely. The food is also excellent. My mother has been in the best of health since being a resident, that didn't happen while at home wit a care package.
My mum has been a resident for three weeks so far. From what I have seen, the staff are incredible. They have been very supportive of Mum and of me. I have found it particularly difficult to let go, but they have really helped me. I haven't met anyone who isn't kind, caring and smiling. The food is very good quality and Mum enjoys it. I can't fault Pengover at all.
I have found the standard of care in Pengover excellent. The home is kept spotlessly clean, the staff are really lovely and there are so many activities laid on for residents. There are fall alarms in each room and the staff always attend to these promptly when triggered (even if only by my dogs who are always welcome which is a great comfort to my mother). I know I can rest assured that she will always be looked after properly and genuinely respected and cherished by this amazing team! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My blind brother receives truly kind and all-round wonderful care from all members of staff at Pengover. He is very happy living at the home and speaks most highly of the great friendship, warmth and understanding extended to him at all times. All the facilities are clean, comfortable and warm which enables him to relax. Thank to all staff.
My brother has been in Pengover for just over 8 weeks. He has settled in and is happy there. The staff are very good and friendly. I've had lunch with him and the food is very good. My brother has made friends with a few of the residents and also participates in the arts and crafts sessions which he has never done before. I would recommend Pengover to anyone.
Mum went into Pengover House in August 2019, originally for respite, but was so settled from day one that it was in her best interests to stay after my father passing away. During COVID and with the block on visiting my mum's dementia deteriorated at a noticeable rate, due mainly to the lack of interaction from family. From the first day we were welcomed as part of the great big Pengover family. Mum was always treated with dignity and care. Staff have come and gone and with every new face comes an input of energy and enthusiasm. The staff have always been very approachable, understanding and compassionate to her needs. Before my mum passed away, care staff, domestic and laundry staff would sit with her often singing and chatting away so that she wasn’t on her own. This goes above and beyond and is the true meaning of teamwork. The staff do a wonderful job. The only negative is that there is no reception desk at the entrance and are left standing at the door as care staff too busy.
Mom has settled very quickly at Pengover House. This is due to the staff's kindness, patience and welcoming approach whilst maintaining a professional manner. We see this all the time on our daily visits to Mom. The staff also provide a safe and happy environment. This all gives us the peace of mind knowing she is being cared for.
My wife is very well supported and treated with dignity and has been ever since she joined the care home. The staff who look after her are magnificent in their attention to detail and also in their reporting of her condition. I have absolute praise for the way in which the staff behave towards my dear wife and would not wish her to be anywhere else. The facilities are extremely good. The place is immaculately clean. The food and drink are supplied by the chef and other members of staff. And it is very high in its quality. The safety and security of the home is immaculate. The staff and management are extremely committed and their experience is without a doubt very far advanced. The room which she is in is always neat and tidy. The activities do occur, but I wish there were more of them. And if this could be part of the ongoing program. there has been a gap in the activities role because of staff illness and I hope that this will be remedied soon.
Dementia patient who needed supervision, whom twice I found fully clothed in bed and when she left the home after 6 weeks had no bra on and most days no pop socks or socks (although available in her room). She left with two unopened boxes of pop socks. She always wore them at home! All night clothes and numerous underwear items missing when she left, plus 'most' of her clothes and a pair of slippers (luckily bought new ones whilst there). Discovered, when she left, the same tube of toothpaste brought in was hardly used. Explanation? No other toothpaste in the room whenever I visited. Seemed to be very little activities arranged during her time there and I visited all times of the day. Staff were on the whole friendly and hard working! Food was excellent!
Very happy with the care my mum is receiving at Pengover Residential and Nursing Home. She seems happy and well looked after.
What an amazing place for my mum, the staff are super friendly, the food looked amazing! Thank you for making my mum feel so welcome. We got a very good vibe about the nursing home and definitely feel happy that my mum is here.
A very good friend of many years, who is a resident at Pengover House, had a birthday and her husband asked if I would go and sing a few songs for her. It was agreed with the staff that this would be acceptable and they offered to give me lunch on the visit. I found the staff were friendly and very caring, giving the residents help and assistance when needed in a dignified manner. The care home was very clean and appeared well run. The food was well balanced and cooked. All in all, I was very impressed with the overall standard of the care home and its staff.
My husband's room needs to be updated and there is no ensuite. However, the staff are lovely and always make time for the residents and visitors. The food always looks good and the building is nice and clean.
My husband was transferred from the hospital to Pengover House while waiting for an NHS assessment to be carried out for continuing care. We found all staff to be very good, kind, caring and considerate at all times and very competent. I was always kept well-informed and supported. He was treated well and with dignity in his last days.
I have the utmost respect for the staff at Pengover House who, for some time now, have looked after and kept my partner safe, when I alone could not. For the reason alone I am forever grateful. I still feel lucky to be able to visit which I do quite regularly but have been beaten at times as with the COVID situation, and lately, rail strikes. So, to close, I know our situation is not desperate, but I'm very thankful for everyone's help at Pengover House.
My wife has only been here for 9 days and so far everything is ok, she is comfortable. I haven't met any management yet, so can't judge them but the nurses are very caring lovely people.
The care and attention is excellent. The staff are so careful and attentive. Could not ask for any better care than we are getting.
My wife has been in Pengover House for nearly 4 years now. During that time I have visited her almost daily. During that time it was noticed that notwithstanding the differing aspects of care and the multiplicity of characters of residents all staff displayed a high degree of patience, kindness, care and professionalism towards the residents. A wonderful team of carers and nurses no need to name names. I would highly recommend them and this nursing home to anyone.
My husband has been a resident at Pengover for almost one year - what a testing time for everyone involved! All the staff treat each resident as if they were one of their own and it is obvious in the kindness and professional care always given. Whenever you make contact with Pengover the response is friendly, helpful and informative and in this current situation every effort is made to keep in contact with relatives, either by telephone, FaceTime or even the unexpected photographs which are always treasured. I rest easily in the knowledge that the care and friendship given to my husband is second to none - giving as much dignity to each individual resident as possible, whilst they live through unforeseen health problems. Thank you all at Pengover you are all angels.
My dad has been in the care of Pengover at Liskeard since two weeks before lockdown in March, until August when he passed peacefully away. I cannot begin to thank the staff for their care of dad. They showed him kindness and respect in the last months of his life during a difficult period. They deserve every praise going. Thank you.
