View Full Details of Penrice House St Austell LtdI started using this service 4 months ago for daycare and respite. I did not know what to expect, Penrice House is beyond words and it is more than I ever expected. The staff are marvellous and kind. The food is similar to what I would make at home, delicious and plentiful all freshly prepared in the kitchen. The activities area has great variety and always something to do. Management are seen and well-known throughout the home. It's like driving into a film set of a rich house. I cannot wait to live here. I highly recommend coming to Penrice House.
My mum arrived at Penrice House on 1st August after six months in hospital following a fall. The love and care shown to her has far exceeded our expectations, nothing is too much trouble and the dedication shown to her is wonderful. Her mobility is non-existent on her own but with the assistance of the staff at Penrice, Mum is afforded her dignity at all times. Her accommodation is extremely comfortable and food is excellent. The home itself is spotlessly clean and fresh at all times and we have been made to feel 100% part of the Penrice House family.
My mum has been at Penrice House for a year. The staff are wonderful and the care my mum receives is outstanding. Everyone is caring, kind and very very supportive. It's a very happy and welcoming home. All the residents are treated as individuals. The care and hard work of all shines through. Thank you so so much.
My mum is a resident and I couldn't wish for a more suitable home for her. I visited at the weekend and was able to walk through the woodland owned by Penrice. The gardens are kept well and there are many gardens to sit in. My mum enjoys the good weather and can sit in the summer house and enjoy the outside space.
My parents have been at Penrice for nearly one year. In all that time we have found the staff to be so very caring, cheerful and very patient. They have been so accommodating and flexible to my parents needs. The staff are so alert to the changing medical needs of mum and dad. The staff are also so aware of the needs, and are kind and caring towards family members who visit residents, especially when dealing with stressful and difficult medical situations. Thank you for your caring concern.
Both my parents stayed at Penrice and were made extremely welcome. It was not easy for either parent as they were used to living on their own but health issues dictated the need for change. My dad in particular found it hard but Penrice went out of their way to accommodate him. All staff took an interest in my parents and developed a friendly, good relationship with both. As both parent's health deteriorated the home was excellent in how they monitored and cared for my parents. Both parents subsequently passed away at the home and in the days leading up to death staff members went out of their way to ensure that there was company when the family could not be there. As a family, we could not have wished for a better place for our parents to have been as their lives came to an end.
My sister has been with Penrice House now for more than two and a half years. Initially apprehensive after living alone as a widow for a long time, she soon settled in and is now very happy there. The key to that is the staff as they are always very attentive, very helpful, patient and understanding. They take a great deal of care for every resident and (as was evidenced by another relative of mine who died there recently) often go over and above normal duties in ensuring each resident is content, comfortable and well-catered for. Visiting my sister is always a pleasant experience as visitors are made to feel welcome and there are no time restraints. Questions about my sister are encouraged and the staff are fully responsive. If there are changes in my sister's health, they are fully reported by contacting me at all times. I am freed from worry for much of my time knowing that my sister is in good hands.
I moved my stepfather to Penrice House St Austell in August 2022. From the very beginning, the staff displayed an approach to caring for residents as an individual. They have demonstrated the ability to understand the foible of each individual. I have extensive experience in the medical world and have found the care at Penrice to be excellent.
From our first visit to look at possibilities, to mum and dad having a week's respite, the whole experience was excellent. The staff are very happy, and the residents and visitors are very happy too. This was the first time for my parents and my dad in particular was initially reticent. He is now a convert and is looking forward to his next visit. It is more country house hotel with additional care rather than a residential care home. Well done 'team penrice'.
Sorry, this is boring but couldn't do less than excellent. Feels like home and the staff and residents are a big family.
This review covers the last 6 months of care that Penrice House has given to my wife. I have written a review previously a couple of years ago praising the high level of care that this home provides, but they have exceeded that if that is possible. My wife was taken to A&E with suspected stroke, where she was put on End of Life Care, Penrice arranged to have her returned to the home, so they could look after her. The care, love, and attention that she received during this time has been exceptional, she is now off EOL Care, during the first couple of weeks I was at her bedside, therefore I have seen first-hand the care given 24hrs/day, 7 days/week to all residents, it is truly incredible. My family and especially me would like to thank you all for what you have done and continue to do. It's all down to the magic created by everybody and everything associated with Penrice.
Mother has just passed away at the tender age of 96. Until recently she lived independently in her own home. Her final weeks were spent in the grand surroundings of Penrice House where she was treated like a queen. The family cannot speak highly enough of the dedicated, thoughtful and friendly staff there. We thank them all for the outstanding quality of care provided.
All staff are friendly and helpful nothing is ever too much trouble, always feel confident that my mother is getting the best care.
It is a very difficult decision to help a family member decide on a care facility, but I cannot think of any other home I would want my mum to be in. It is a wonderful house in a fantastic setting. But above all, it is the staff that make this home amazing, every one of them. They really care for my mum, and this is a great relief to me.
My Dad has been a resident at Penrice House for 18 months. Unfortunately, for most of that time, the Home has been subject to COVID restrictions and although this has not made things easy for either staff, residents or family and friends, I have been impressed with the way these have been implemented. Every effort has been made to ensure the safety of staff and residents whilst allowing visitors to see their loved ones under carefully controlled arrangements. My Dad has been cared for with dignity and respect at all times and the staff are wonderful with him. There are many and varied activities arranged for residents to enjoy - a current favourite being the cinema sessions in the main lounge. Staff are proactive in keeping me up to date with Dad's condition and are always kind, helpful and discrete when dealing with his personal care. I cannot recommend them enough, thank you to all at Penrice House for your care, humour and discretion.
The quality of care at Penrice House is exemplary. The staff are caring, patient and work hard to provide a comfortable and enjoyable home life. Attention to detail is consistent and thorough; residents are frequently asked for ideas about improving provision and these are acted upon. The building is warm, well-appointed and welcoming. The response to the pandemic was appropriate, proportionate and proactive, targeted on providing a high degree of safety. Overall the standard is excellent and I would recommend it without hesitation.
Excellent help from staff which gives the lovely home feeling and happy to live here. Excellent manager, always happy and helpful.
Penrice House is a beautiful house set in beautiful woodlands. It has been a care home for over 40 years. Most of the rooms are singles, many of them having private facilities. The food is excellent with a choice of menu for meals. Visitors are welcome at most times and there is a choice of activities on weekdays. The home has a minibus, a shop, hairdressing salon, a small library and laundry. The staff are caring and helpful, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. As the home is a charity, the fees are reasonable for what is on offer.
We appreciate our good fortune in finding Penrice House for our mother-in-law who has now been a resident for over 4 years. We simply could not wish for any better provision: the staff are all extremely well trained, with an emphasis on individual, attentive care. The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful and we have been very impressed with the way in which there is constant re-decoration so that nothing ever looks tired or shabby. Mum has changed rooms several times and each time the room into which she moves is redecorated and carpets replaced. The food is home-cooked and plentiful with drinks provided throughout the day. The way in which Covid was dealt with was exemplary and we all felt as safe and secure as it was possible to be. The staff went to a great deal of trouble to celebrate Mum's 90th with us during lockdown. Mum has always been able to raise any concerns she has had, knowing that she will be sympathetically listened to and action taken.
