View Full Details of Rowan HouseRowan House has dedicated staff that care for the individual needs of each resident. When we visit it always has a happy atmosphere.
I was apprehensive about how Mum would react after her fall, hospitalisation, and then her big fear - residential care! Mum started overwhelmed and nervous. The staff have gone out of their way to make Mum feel she is amongst friends, and they give her a cuddle and hold her hand. Activities: group sing-alongs and music events, one-on-one knitting, pasty making... There will never be enough staff, but that applies to most care homes. The staff treat everyone with respect and dignity, and they seem genuinely happy in their work, despite being nearly always busy and attentive to residents' needs. Food and drinks are very good. Rooms are spotless and tidied/cleaned better than many hotels. There is always a Duty Manager on hand and the Deputy Manager can regularly be seen with the residents and relatives - a big tick. The home is under new management and they are making positive changes, probably with limited resources.
The staff at Rowan House are always attentive and cheerful when I visit my 93-year-old mum. If Mum is a little out of sorts they always let us know and keep a close eye on her which is good to know. Any questions that I have had are readily answered or taken on board and answers found. They have been extremely helpful in assisting and advising me on matters of funding Mum's care.
My dad came into Rowan House for respite care following a long spell in hospital. He has the beginnings of dementia and was very confused when he arrived. The staff made huge efforts to help him settle and made regular contact with me both personally by phone and by allowing my father to call me when he was anxious or unsettled. He is now well-settled at the home and seems happy. I visited him for the first time this week and the environment was friendly, clean, and welcoming. I feel he is receiving good care and there is always someone around to listen to him or reassure him.
I went to visit Rowan House for a temporary respite placement for my mum following a lengthy hospital stay. As soon as I went in I knew this was the right place for her to be. Both management and staff have been so professional, kind and supportive through a very challenging time, they always have the best interests of the residents at heart and work so hard to create a homely feel and a warm welcoming atmosphere. I cannot thank them enough.
Rowan House has been really supportive with the care of my mum. It has been a really difficult time, but I have felt assured that Mum is being really well looked after and her needs are being met. The staff are really caring and patient and have done their utmost to make Mum as comfortable as possible. Staff are always welcoming when I visit and if I have any queries or concerns,a particular member of staff and the Managers are always accessible, easy to talk to and will deal with any issues and try to get things sorted out.
So far very pleased with the care our father is getting. Care home people are always so friendly, informative and supportive. It has been a very stressful time for both of us as we live so far away. It is reassuring that there is always a friendly voice to give us any information we need.
From the moment we walked into Rowan House, we felt very welcomed by the team of staff. We were nervous about choosing the right home to suit my Dad’s needs, but we have nothing but positive things to say about the home. The care, food and activities are fantastic and it has made this hard transition for both my Dad and family very smooth and easy. My dad is very happy, as are we.
I can only speak highly of Rowan House. Both management and staff have all been very helpful, friendly and professional in all matters and needs for my mother and myself. Unfortunately, as I live abroad I am unable to visit my mother as often as I would like. Since my last visit last December I can see a noticeable improvement in her health and appearance. She is eating very well and shows her appreciation to all the visiting staff. As my mother prefers to spend most of her time in her room I was very grateful that she was given a room with a lovely view and is also spacious enough to hold many of her personal items and hang her favourite paintings. I thank all at Rowan House for being there to help and assist my mother during this difficult time of her life. My mind is at rest when I return back home knowing she is safe and being well cared for.
First of all if you are reading these reviews I am sorry for your situation. I have been where you are and trying to find the best place and make the right decision for someone you love so much is hard! I couldn’t have got through my journey without the staff at Rowan House. They are caring, kind, compassionate, understanding, respectful, sensible, sensitive and show love and support when you need it the most. You go home knowing your loved one is in safe hands. Rowan House is clean, nice rooms and the care and attention from staff is lovely. I watch nails being cut/painted, singing and dancing and residents being constantly fed and watered, catered to the likes of the individual. I see a family and that’s what they are which clearly comes across. I see each person living there free to do what they want (obviously within reason) and not all sleepy in a chair which I saw at other homes I visited. I would highly recommend Rowan House to any of you travelling this difficult journey and trying to make the best decision for your loved one.
Rowan House and all the staff are so caring and compassionate; they have gone above and beyond helping my mum, who has Alzheimer’s, in her difficult moments. There are always activities going on and good food, and excellent communication with the family.
Rowan House Saltash is a wonderful care home. My Mother has settled in and is very happy! The staff are all kind and can’t do enough for Mum. Thank you all very much for looking after her and I feel relieved that I can leave her there and know she is being looked after.
The care Mum has received has been excellent. The home has a lovely warm atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble. All residents are treated with love and respect. We were also helped during a difficult transition period.
Lovely staff, couldn't be more helpful or understanding. Very caring attitude towards their residents and welcoming to visitors. Rooms are small but functional, food good and building secure for the benefit of the residents. Highly recommend.
My father has complex dementia needs and the staff at Rowan House are really caring and supportive. My brother and I do not live locally and it is very reassuring that Dad is being so well cared for.
My mum who has dementia went into Rowans House at very short notice as my dad was rushed into hospital. She has been looked after really well, the staff have been marvellous with her and so caring. Mum is really happy and content.
Mum has Alzheimers, but is still able to stay in her own home. My sister is the main carer for mum, and I help out when I can, so the burden falls mainly on my sister. Mum has a visit every morning from Rowan House, and I can honestly say that without these visits, we would have to look at residential care. All the carers are lovely, and treat mum with such dignity and respect. They do a fantastic job under very trying circumstances, for which I cannot thank them enough.
Excellent and friendly explanations of what the staff and team could offer were completely realistic of the difficulties of my being able to give an accurate state of my situation, dates, etc, explained what they could offer if dates ok with them and myself were possible almost to the day! A real understanding of actual life. Along with this, the team managers could describe the wide range of residents that they catered for and them as persons which they tried to help and give support and care. It was this flexibility and care mix that warmed me to the Rowan House, and it came down from the registered manager to all the members of staff, nursing, social, domestic, maintenance and visitor wise. This was a quality needed in such "care" provision places where nobody knows the exact requirements of everyone at all times! ... but as a team ... they can pool the experiences of members. I was found a room, made up for me on the day I could make it to arrive.
My mother has spent four weeks at Rowan House for respite care. She has been treated with dignity and respect at all times and the quality of care she has received has been excellent. We have also noticed that her mobility has improved following her stay. My family and I would have no hesitation in recommending Rowan House.
My husband came into Rowan House care early July 2022. I thought initially it was just for respite but it has turned out that he needs more care than I can give him. The Staff at Rowan are kind and caring I really could not ask for anything more. Nothing is too much trouble and they go the extra mile to ensure both my husband and myself are happy. What impresses me is that every member of staff is prepared to do whatever is necessary - no "that's not in my job description". If a resident needs something whoever is nearby attends to that person. I am really impressed. I am so grateful to everyone at Rowan for looking after my husband.
