View Full Details of Camplehaye Residential HomeMy mum was transferred direct from hospital to Camplehaye Residential Home and from the word go we have been so impressed. The staff have been so kind and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled really quickly and decided she'd like to stay. The Christmas party today was just great with so many people involved and felt so honest - really just so impressed by all the carers and staff at the home.
Friendly caring home with good working practices, safe environment, well maintained both equipment and the setting. Person centered individual care, communication with next of kin excellent, responsive to meeting changing needs of residents. High standards of staff training is apparent in all aspects from manual handling to personal care. Secure setting, wide range of activities - seasonal themes. Dogs welcomed, very important plus therapy dog visits.
I had a super visit to see my Mum in- law at Camplehaye Residential Home yesterday morning. The positive happy energy and atmosphere here is amazing. The whole team of staff are absolutely fantastic, caring and superbly communicative with my family member and all the other residents. The team have music on in the lounge for their residents to listen to and sing along to if they wish to. Plus there's a television in this room too. Also great daily activities to participate in if they would like to for example themed drawing and painting, remembrance poppies, Christmas tree's etc. Not forgetting various other activities too. It's absolutely wonderful to see how well cared for my Mum in-law is here and gives my husband and I peace of mind. Also she has a lovely room with tv when she wants quiet time on her own to relax. The food and drink at Camplehaye is excellent as well. Thankyou so much " Team Camplehaye" for all you do for your residents. You are all truly fabulous.
When realisation hits home, that you truly have done your best for the person that you love and care for but sadly Dementia is a cruel disease, that takes its hold and you can't continue with their care for what ever reason. Camplehaye Residential Home holds the answers. From the first initial phone call, to the transition of moving in, we were kept informed and supported throughout the process. We cannot thank the whole team enough for the love, care, compassion and understanding shown not only to my husband but also to us during his 3 week stay, which sadly were his last 3 weeks with us. Those 3 weeks were filled with a level of care that we couldn't have given my husband at home. We will always remember Camplehaye with gratitude and thank you all dearly.
My Mum, who suffers Alzheimer's dementia, has been a resident of Camplehaye Residential Home for well over a year. The care provided to my Mum is outstanding, and they tend to her needs compassionately, she looks on them as her friends, and her cheekiness is always welcomed! From the outset we were able to turn my mum’s room into her own familiar space, bringing in pieces of her own furniture, wall pictures, shelves and ornaments. The rooms are bright and clean, and the food is nutritional and plentiful. My mum has had a couple of spells in hospital this year, each time her speedy recovery is due to the exemplary care given to her by the staff and care team on her return to Camplehaye, all of whom are incredibly kind, very hard working and they have provided immense support to me also. Families of residents are always made to feel welcome in the home and I always look forward to my regular visits. To quote my mum following a day out “It’s good to be home”. I think that says it all!
Facilities: Mum was on a short-term respite stay, so, understandably, her room wasn't one of the best. There were no views from the window but there was a lot of light. The toilet was small with a sink but no shower. Care/support: due to understaffing, the call bells were frequently left to ring. For instance, one time it took over 45 minutes for them to come in, by which time it was too late. (She needed the toilet). This was the norm rather than the exception. Cleanliness: very clean. Treated with dignity: mostly. Food and drink: small portions. Didn't always get what she asked for. Was forgotten once. Staff: kind, caring and friendly but clearly overworked. Safety/security: Fort Knox to get into/out of but residents are left to wander. We saw them in the kitchens and they kept coming into my mum's room and touching her belongings. Towards the end, a stair gate was provided to stop them coming in at night. Overall: acceptable. Family would need to keep up with the care provided.
In the most part, fairly good. Sometimes definitely not enough members of staff, toileting and basic care sometimes overlooked. Entertainment is very poor, when they are doing one to one with this, all of the other residents are left to watch the telly in the main room, not with a member of staff present. They just walk through and sometimes glance over to see all is OK but in the main, they don't.
Short of staff to fulfil duties at crucial times ie, toilet and being left unattended. I feel for older residents, their food should be manageable to eat ie, meat cut up, not rock hard and overcooked pasties. Call button should be always available to use, needs checking.
Since my wife has been a resident she has been treated with nothing but kindness. She is so well looked after and everything is done for her. I have every confidence in them and their professional ways of dealing with anything that crops up, nothing seems to upset them or put them out. They are a great lot.
My experience with the Care home has been overall very good. The staff are very helpful and take time out to ensure my dad has some social interaction through the day as he is somewhat restricted to his room. As a result, my Dad has now built good relationships with most of the staff. My Dad has reported that the food is good and wholesome and on most occasions, he can have more if he needs it.
My mother lived at Camplehaye Residential Home for 18 months. We found the care to be extremely good. All the staff were caring and attentive. My mother's room was spacious and had a very nice outlook.
