View Full Details of Lake View Retirement HomeDad became a resident of Lake View just under a year ago, after an unplanned admission to Hospital. Each time I have visited, all members of staff are friendly, approachable & willing to answer my questions. The residents look well cared for and I have always found the care home clean and tidy. Dad has started to become a "falls risk" on the stairs, so to pre-empt future problems/injuries, he was moved downstairs. This, to me shows that the staff are thinking of the residents well being. I also know the home Manager feels that food and nutrition are very important and as such the chefs produce some lovely looking meals. I live some distance away from the care home. Therefore, I find the regular news letters interesting. As, they detail past & future activities/entertainment provided for the residents. Along, with providing general information about the home itself. On the whole I'm very happy that my Dad is a resident of Lake View & more importantly he seems to like living there.
I want to thank everyone at Lake View Retirement Home for the level of care that my father was given during the last two and half weeks of his life. He was treated with so much kindness and respect. Be it a chat/hello from the cleaner who washed his blanket or the care staff who always listened to him. The manager was very kind to me, too. Thank you, everyone at Lake View.
My friend went to Lake View in December 2024 till January 2025 when he sadly passed away. The standard and level of care and standard of care was excellent from all the staff. My friend was happy to be there and said to me that the staff were nice. Because my friend was finally on end-of-life care I was allowed to be with him all day and night so I was also able to see the standard of care during the night and that was also excellent. Having also seen and tasted the food I can honestly say that it was lovely home-cooked, nourishing meals. I am a retired qualified nurse who worked many years in older adult and I would have been proud to have any of the staff here on my unit. For me the care is more important than a building that might need a lick of paint. I can honestly say that I would be happy to be a resident there.
I love how the staff here present themselves and how well they know each of the residents so well. Their care is second to none. They put on a party in December, and the food and music were fantastic. I was invited to one of them and was included in all of the activities, a lovely well-run home.
My mother has been very well looked after by the staff at Lake View. The staff are very caring, and I feel they look after my mother with dignity, love and respect. My mother feels safe at Lake View. However, the cleanliness is not always as it should be. Skirting boards and surfaces are not always cleaned. Carpets are not vacuumed frequently enough. Everything needs a lick of paint and renovation.
Noticed that the day room is too small for the number of residents, today a resident was turned away as there was not enough room for him. The previous day room had plenty of room for residents and guests.
We are very happy that my mum is here, she is very happy and is happy that she can talk to people who pass by her room, they always stop for a chat. She has settled in very well and likes the food.
Mum has been in Lake View for six months now. Whilst she found it hard to adapt to her new surroundings and the loss of independence which she had greatly valued, the patience and kindness of the staff has now enabled her to settle in. The room is spacious and airy and conveniently situated on the ground floor. I feel that she is safe, cared for and respected and I am grateful for the help that she receives.
My father is more social now that he lives in a home. It is a good feeling for me as a son to know that there are capable staff there to look after him. The home keeps me up to date on his well-being as well as events taking place there.
The service was above adequate! Food fresh and appealing. Staff go the extra mile. However the actual building requires some updating e.g. bathroom, ensuite facilites. The driveway very unsafe for walking and potholes for driving. The TV room 'outdated,' TV too small and folk sat around room - against walls, rather than in groups, very intimidating! - all together but I guess staff can keep an eye on everyone together!
Our mother spent a few days at Lakeview before being admitted to hospital. Then after 3 weeks in hospital, she was discharged back to Lakeview. The manager and her team were extremely proactive in ensuring mum's needs were met and quick to refer her to the Doctor when necessary. After a short time back at Lakeview, sadly, it became End of Life Care. We can not fault the sensitive and thoughtful care Lakeview provided during this time.
My mum was placed in Lake View Retirement Home 12 months ago and during our frequent visits, we have seen how well she has been looked after. Her health and happiness have greatly improved, thanks mostly to the extremely helpful, hard-working and friendly staff. They are always on the go and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. Mother very much likes the food and, at nearly 100, it looks like she may do so for some time to come! We are very grateful for the way she has been treated and feel she could not be in a better place so well done to all of you and a great big thank you.
The staff are attentive and caring. The management team is well-informed and supportive. The team overall have been helpful and responsive to requests and questions. The accommodation is satisfactory and meets basic requirements. The care package has been satisfactory so far.
I cannot speak highly enough about Lakeview, I am so grateful for my grandmother to have been placed there. My grandmother entered Lakeview during the first covid lockdown, which was an extremely upsetting time for all involved. However, the staff became her family when we were unable to be. Her love of singing and wicked sense of humour was encouraged. As my grandmother's health started to decline the support and compassion shown not only to her but also to myself is something I will never forget. It is not easy to watch someone pass away but my grandmother was able to do so with dignity and the utmost respect. Lakeview Team you are a credit to your profession and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for gran and my family.
My Mum has been a resident of Lake View for nearly 3 years. She has been treated with kindness and great care and the staff are very helpful. The food is all home-cooked and cannot be faulted. We have always been kept up to date with any health issues and the Manager, is always helpful, friendly and efficient. We were very confident during Covid that my mum was being looked after in a very safe environment. Most importantly she is very happy there.
My dear mum was cared for in Lake View for the last 17 days of her life. I spent many hours with her there, and I saw at first hand the extraordinary care, sensitivity, and compassion demonstrated by each member of staff. They worked as a cheerful, cohesive team supporting the residents, the visitors, and each other. My family and I couldn’t be more grateful to them.
My mum has lived at Lake View Retirement Home since 2013 and has been treated with utmost respect, all the staff are absolutely amazing. I'm kept informed of everything they do for my mum the house is very clean and decorated to a very good standard, the garden is lovely with lovely views. The food is of high standard. My mum is very happy there and I'm happy she is there. I never worry about her as I know she is in safe hands well done to every member of staff.
My mother lived at Lake view for 18-months. The loving care/kindness given to her from every single member of staff has been outstanding. The food was home-cooked, her room was always spotless. As a family, we always received a warm welcome whenever we visited.
The staff are very good and welcoming during visits. I could not fault the care they have given. The building is an old, large house and my mother's room was on the first floor. The room was adequate but a little dark and not a great view from the window. In a nutshell, the staff were great, the building a little tired, but it's the staff and care they give that is most important.
Have found all the people, carers and manager very helpful, friendly and professional. This home has a really happy atmosphere and the staff only too happy to help the residents. My mother in law is happy in this environment.
