View Full Details of SomerfordeIn every way, Somerforde excels and I can't say enough to thank each member of staff in the Somerforde team for all their extraordinary levels of care for my Father.
My mum receives excellent care at Somerforde from all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble, which has helped Mum settle in well. It's an anxious time when a loved one goes into care, but I've been brilliantly supported through the whole process. I would highly recommend Somerforde if you are looking for a care home that is gorgeous, friendly and with a family feel.
All staff are so caring making the home feel like a welcoming place to be. My mum is getting to the stage in her life that she can hardly do anything for herself, but nothing seems to much bother for the lovely young people that look after her. The home is spotless and well-maintained. Mum always says that the food is very good.
My mother has been in Somerford over 5 years now and is very happy. From management and all the staff who treat all residents with dignity and respect. They do so many activities with the residents and the food looks amazing. All rooms are clean and well kept the garden is beautiful. I would recommend Somerford to everyone and I will take this opportunity to thank all the staff, managment and owner for a wonderful, safe and well-run home for all our loved ones.
My mum was placed in Somerforde eighteen months ago due to a severe stroke that took away her independence. Having had to deal with the upset this caused, both for us and Mum, we were unsure of what we faced in the long term care and future needs. We soon became very aware that the home was not only in a very pleasant location, but was well managed, maintained and the staff were personable. It took a little time for her to settle in, but she soon was singing the praises of staff, food and tasks that were done on her behalf. We too were treated like family and were updated with medical needs/requirements for her as we don’t live locally. Sadly, my mum passed away recently and had to be hospitalised, but Somerforde were very supportive in her final days with any help required. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Somerforde as a family run care home, with the emphasis of family environment and the residents feel like family.
I cannot speak highly enough of Somerforde. My father has been a resident now for about 4 years and the level of care is outstanding. One thing that sets this home aside from others, is the amount of staff on duty at any one time. There are care workers and nurses buzzing around the place all of the time and they show such kindness, patience and care towards the residents. Lots of time is spent with each person and nothing is too much trouble. The building is spotlessly clean with amazing facilities and the bedrooms are all freshly decorated with lots of lovely soft furnishings. Nearly every room has a lovely view and at the front, it overlooks Forde Park which is so pretty. It's extremely clear that the owner/managers have really high standards and every day in the afternoon, they have a different activity to keep them occupied. I would highly recommend Somerforde if you want peace of mind in knowing that your loved one is being so well looked after. I cannot fault them.
This is a wonderful residential home. My mum could not be happier here. All the staff are totally committed to looking after her and making sure she has the very best care in all aspects of her day to day living. The home is very well maintained and absolutely spotless. The gardens are beautiful and my mum loves sitting in her chair, looking out of her bedroom window to admire the garden any time of the year. She also enjoys her food so much and all the little treats the staff provide as a nice surprise. I can not think of anywhere that would look after my mum as well as the lovely, caring, always smiling staff at Somerforde and me and my family are very grateful that she is living in such a lovely home.
A very clean and comfortable home with pleasant staff, always welcomed into the home. My mum's room has all the facilities that are required. Plenty of activities to keep the residents stimulated. Given the care and excellent staff, I have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.
I visit Somerforde with my wife to see my mother on a fairly regular basis and every time I visit the staff are cheerful, helpful and remarkably upbeat. My mother can be very, very difficult; I am under no illusions about this and am greatly appreciative of the continuing care and professionalism provided by all the staff in what I am sure on many occasions are the most trying of circumstances. I feel confident that everything that can be done is being done to ensure her comfort and safety, she is also independently assessed from a health perspective on a regular basis. I would add that my brother's wife is a career nurse and she has also been hugely impressed by the home on the occasions she has accompanied my brother to see our mother. A huge thank you to all those associated with Somerforde Care Home.
The staff at all levels are committed, respectful and hardworking, and have made the last (sometimes very difficult) years of my godmother's life as smooth and safe as they possibly could. Everyone always has a smile and, as we live a distance away, they have kept us very well informed when we have been unable to visit. Somerforde itself is a spotlessly clean and very well-cared-for building, and the residents are obviously extremely well looked after and treated as members of the Somerforde family. Having spoken to friends with relatives in other settings, I have no doubt that we were very fortunate to have found such a lovely home.
We cannot fault the loving, caring environment that exists at Somerforde and could not have chosen a better care home for Mum to of moved into back in June 2020. Despite Mums rapidly progressing dementia, she is happy, safe, supported and so well cared for by all the fabulous Somerforde team. As a family, we could not ask for more.
Our mum has now been at Somerforde for just over 12-months. She entered Somerforde only a few months after the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and it was a very difficult time for us all. The staff at Somerforde are warm, welcoming and always very professional, and Mum has settled very well. It is a comfort to us as a family knowing she is safe and well looked after. There are always plenty of activities for residents to enjoy, and the monthly newsletter is a lovely way for families to keep up to date with everything their loved one is doing.
The staff at Somerforde have always treated Dad with respect, great kindness and lots of humour; during the past 5 months of the pandemic, they have exceeded all expectations, living in for long periods at a time, showing great dedication to the residents. The care and attention Dad receives is reflected in his improved mobility and mental agility. He is very happy at Somerforde, always praising the staff, and has a lovely room which is ideally positioned for him. Everyone at Somerforde is always very welcoming and friendly, and they seem to take great pride in the service they provide. I am very happy that Dad is in such a nice, safe home surrounded by people who do care.
From the moment we sought help from Somerforde over 2 years ago, our family has been surrounded by care and support. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and every care has been taken. Communication has been good, even though we live some distance away. In the past few days, we have been overwhelmed by the way the staff have treated us all with dignity and respect but also with loving care. Everyone has gone way above and beyond our expectations and we are so grateful.
Level of care experienced, quality of food and general cleanliness have been very good and happy to recommend Somerforde.
The review was very informative on all the news development and more staff. On things that are going on each month to keep resident entertained. The food is good, rooms clean and tidied. Friendly staff, help where they can or management called. Safety and security things in place which will be better.
Somerforde residential home puts the care of the residents at the heart of everything it does. It is not a corporate venture but is owned by someone who has themselves seen the poorer side of the care industry and who wants to provide better than that for the residents of Somerforde. This philosophy is shared by the manager of the home who is extremely approachable and plays an active role in the day to day running of the home. All is inevitably not perfect and there are some aspects that could be improved but these are minor and peripheral to the direct care and welfare of my mother.
Now, mum has been at Somerforde for 7 years. She always seems very happy. In that time we have seen a few changes. At the moment there are a lot of changes for the better. Somerforde is now greatly improved on all aspects as well as the modernisation and redecoration of the home. Very welcoming and lovely caring staff and management.
Somerforde is a reasonable care home that seems to care for its residents in the best way. Communication sometimes is not easy to achieve but the manager and team seek to do the best they can. My mum's room needs some updating and maintenance which seems to take a while to get done, but generally, the home is satisfactory.
Overall, very good. My father is treated with care and respect. His health needs are met with dignity and as he is getting more illnesses, nothing is left to chance. He has had his medical needs addressed as soon as there is a problem.
