View Full Details of Charlton HouseThe staff are very caring and welcoming.
When my wife needed the toilet, I pressed the button it was over an hour before anybody came. No one is beside her when she walks against the doctor's ruling.
Mum, aged 98, has now been at Charlton House for over 6 years. We have always been very pleased with her care and would recommend Charlton House without reservation.
My wife has dementia and she has used your care facility recently. Excellent.
We have been very pleased with the way my mother has been treated. We realise that she has needed a lot of ease and this has definitely been forthcoming. All staff have been helpful and caring.
I have found the staff and management very helpful, understanding, supportive and professional, not only to me but to mum. She has been taken care of very well and is well-liked by all the staff and nurses. I have no need to worry about her care here, as the staff, nurses and management have kept me well informed as to her progress.
My brother has recently become a resident at Charlton House, Mannamead, Plymouth. To ensure my brother receives the best possible care, I have been keen to communicate with staff of Charlton House. Clearly, staff are actively involved with all residents continuously. Having had an opportunity to speak with a range of staff within the Charlton House team; a new recruit, carers, seniors, team leaders, duty managers, care manager and general manager, to date I have received from the team throughout our communications a professional, proactive and empathetic approach regarding my brother. During communications in person or by telephone relating to my brother, it has become apparent some staff positively shine with enthusiasm and friendliness whilst maintaining professionalism. However, I am sure all staff at Charlton House contribute with various strengths for the benefit of residents. I aim to update my review at later date.
My Mother's needs were met by all staff who were kind, friendly and helpful. My brother and I were confident she was being well cared for.
My sister-in-law was admitted in January 2022. We were welcomed. It is not what I would have wanted but she is safe and now is happy to go back when we take her out. Overall they have taken care of her well.
How do you choose a care home for your nearest and dearest? I guess we all look for something different, to focus on the needs of our loved ones. We were lucky to find Charlton House Care Home, not just a care home but an extended family who welcomed Mum and us into the fold. For nearly three years, Mum has been cared for by a very caring and highly trained, dedicated team, giving Mum the best of personal care, activities and, of course, delicious meals. Mum passed away last week at Charlton House, in a most peaceful, calm and dignified way, we will never forget those of you who were there for us during the last few days and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. So if you have that difficult decision to make, Charlton House could be the place you are looking for, remember not just a professional team, they are a family filled with love.
Day staff are polite, kind and caring, working constantly for the needs of the residents. But can see there is a need for extra staff. Much appreciation for all they do. Thank you.
The staff at Charlton House Care Home have always been welcoming and flexible in their approach, taking into account my needs as a relative who lives some considerable distance away from the home. I have observed good interaction between the staff and residents and a good level of care and compassion demonstrated in this setting.
My aunt was in short-term respite care for ten weeks. The staff were so caring and kind and went to great lengths to find things she would enjoy eating. She was always clean when I visited her a number of times each week. She was unwell with chest infections and the team were in frequent and proactive contact with her GP ensuring that she had timely treatment. If there was a problem they called one of us to update us within an hour of any action taken. They were always willing to stop and discuss concerns. Most residents living in the care home have varying degrees of dementia and it is therefore a difficult balance between allowing the freedom to wander and giving each person their personal space. We did have a problem with some lost items of clothing and her teeth went missing. If there was one thing that the care home improve on it would be having a system in place to reduce the risk is missing items and searching for them when they do go missing because it is frustrating.
I would recommend Charlton House Care Home. The staff treated my dad like one of their own relatives and looked after him well. The staff remembered that it’s not the patient's fault that they act like they do. It feels like the residents are kept very safe as there are door codes between floors/areas. The food always looked good. I would say staff go above and beyond what is expected.
My husband arrived in September and died in February. The care he had was extremely good, both when he was well and when he had a chest infection, pneumonia, and when he passed away. My family all appreciated the care he had. The staff were so caring all the time.
I cannot fault my dad's care at Charlton House. He had dementia and was there for 5 months. Many staff went over and above to ensure my dad and my family were treated in the best way possible. The member of staff in charge of activities took the time to get to know my dad and was so kind and encouraging, treating him just as he deserved. A senior member of staff was so gentle with Dad and very good at communicating information to my family. She genuinely cared about his well-being and our feelings too. The member of staff who was usually on the night shift and we only met her a few days before he passed away. I literally cannot thank her enough for her care and compassion at a very difficult time. She looked after my mum whilst she stayed by my dad's side and could not have done any more to support our family in his final days. This home is genuinely streets ahead of another home we encountered and deserves recognition.
My grandad has been at this care home for three years and has recently passed. While he was here the staff were brilliant with him, made him feel comfortable and settled, less anxious and just safe, staff are lovely and generally do care about the residents, I felt comfortable and confident that he was receiving the care he needed! Thank you to all the staff at Charlton House for looking after my grandad! I appreciate you all so much, he loved each and everyone of you!
I am satisfied with the standard of care that I have seen with the caring staff. Always been welcome by staff on visits.
My mum stayed at the home for four and a half years and found the home comfortable and was well looked after. They embraced her positivity and always encourage her to get involved in all the activities supported by a lovely staff member, even though they weren't all to her liking. Staff kept me in the picture about any health change issues and when I had concerns they addressed them. She was obviously well-loved and cared for and they were there for her right until her sad departure a month ago. As a thank you to the home I have recently become a dementia friend and am helping the home to develop a family and friends support group for relatives living with dementia within the home. The home are supportive towards this. Thank you Charlton House Care Home.
I was visiting my aunty and she is very well looked after and takes part in activities of which we get to see through the Facebook page. The food looks good and she seems well looked after and very happy.
