View Full Details of The Old School HouseI have nothing but praise for The Old School House. It's staff are efficient, respectful and friendly to visitors and residents alike. Perhaps, though, the best recommendation for the home has come from my mother, herself. One day as I was leaving her after a visit, she told me (completely unsolicited), 'you mustn't worry about me being here. I'm very well looked after and the food is very good, too'.
The Old School House is clean and well run by the Manager and Deputy Manager. The staff are very polite, supportive and friendly, the food is also very good and clients are given a choice. The care home also do activities for the residents to help them, I would not hesitate to recommend The Old School House.
I moved my husband to The Old School House in June 2022 after he had been in care for eighteen months. He settled immediately and is very happy. His multiple needs are catered for sympathetically and he is looking much better than when he arrived. The care team are attentive and his medication has been reduced so his appetite has returned. I have every confidence in the care team and management.
Throughout the pandemic, the manager and her team at The Old School House have done really well. The care that Dad has received has remained first class and the fact that he has gained some weight is testimony to the quality of the care and the food. The staff are always pleasant, polite and cheerful which has really helped in these difficult times. Now that visits are possible again, the safety measures in place give a sense of security and reassurance. The manager and her team have maintained superb professional standards whilst remaining friendly and helpful. To have done this in such demanding circumstances must have been exhausting both physically and emotionally. I would like to thank them all for keeping The Old School House covid free, an outstanding effort!
My mum and stepdad have been resident in this care home for the last 3-weeks, during which time they have settled and been so well looked after. This is a great relief to the family, and we are finding all the care staff, including the manager, to be extremely kind, compassionate and helpful. It is also lovely that we are able to visit behind a glass screen, ensuring that everyone is kept safe. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, and we would be more than happy to recommend this home!
Mum and Dad went into The Old School House 3-weeks ago because Mum has Alzheimer's and Dad has severe movement difficulties along with other medical conditions. They were initially reluctant to leave their home and enter the care home, which is understandable, but all of the staff from the manager down have been wonderful. Whilst the family cannot enter the home because of Covid, they have set up a system where families can see and speak to relatives from behind a glass screen. This is reassuring for us all, and we can see how much more happy and relaxed they are now. It is great to see how the staff interact with our parents and treat them as friends rather than patients. I would recommend this home to anyone who has care needs.
The staff have been wonderful in taking care of my mother and making sure she is happy. Keeping in contact, especially when myself, my sister, and our families have been unable to visit ourselves. Thank you.
Just wanted to say that I am so grateful for the activities co-ordinator at this care home. I feel that my sister is in good, safe, compassionate hands and that is such a gift to all of her family. As visiting is impossible due to lockdown it is a relief that none of us has to worry about her.
My mother-in-law moved to this facility early October from her former residential home - I am astounded that in such a short period of time, the change both physically and mentally (despite dementia) in her! She is regaining her mobility given the freedom to move around her new home - she is much more relaxed and happier in herself and is now actively joining in with activities, changes in her sleep pattern are emerging and she is now awake more during the day and sleeping longer periods through the night!! I can’t thank the home manager and her team enough for the change they have made to Mum's life, long may it continue! It is such a joy to visit and see her smiling and being positive, she even laughed at my being outside in the rain.
Since my first contact with The Old School House and my partner taking up residence, I have found that the manager and her staff have been very helpful and willing to go out of their way to be of any assistance what so ever. The manager has been very good in keeping me informed of everything in connection with my partner. All the staff are always at hand too and very helpful. Wonderful service.
Your service to my wife was caring with love and friendliness. Although she has now passed she was happy and took it as her home. I miss visiting and consider all of you as friends. The way she was clean, comfortable and relaxed speaks volumes to your staff. When we were allowed to visit her a few days before she died when she recognised and spoke to myself and my daughter was kind and friendly. Thanks to you all.
My mother moved to The Old School House in January 2020 after a fall in her own home. She had lived alone for 8 years. At the time she was deeply mistrusting, extremely confused, underweight and fearful. Her transformation has progressed over 5 months to a point where it could almost be described as miraculous. She has put on weight, seems happy and content and is joining in with the activities. Best of all, as I live overseas, my Mum now chats with me on Skype every week thanks to the support of the very dedicated activities coordinator. He, the management team and all the staff members I have been in contact with have been wonderful. I almost feel like I am part of a large happy family. I never for one moment thought it would ever be like this as my mother was always adamant she did not want to be "put in a home". From my experiences so far, I highly recommend The Old School House.
My 98-year-old mum has been a resident of the care home The Old School House for almost six and a half years. Mum has various health issues as she ages including vascular dementia. The staff have always been lovely to her and supportive to her family when they are concerned for her health and are always approachable at all times.
In general, the level of care my wife has received has been extremely good. In particular, I was impressed by the homes early response to Covid-19, which has kept the home virus free. I'm pleased she has access to the garden in the warm weather - she has always been a garden lover.
My Father who has Dementia has been a resident for the last six months. The manager and all of the team are kind, compassionate and caring. They all go out of their way to help and care for our loved ones. Nothing is too much trouble. It is extremely clean and tidy and I could not recommend them enough. All the team are fantastic which gives the family great reassurance. Dad is in great hands. They have a permanent entertainment coordinator who not only plays the guitar and sings to them all but goes around the rooms and spends time talking and listening to the residents. They are all like a big family. Excellent.
My sisters and myself are extremely happy with the service, care, care and attention that is given to our mother from the staff at The Old School House. Thank you all for everything you do for Mum.
My husband has been at The Old School House for six months, he has been cared for with dignity and affection. The food is second to none and the manager is brilliant and all the staff are very kind. The entertainment coordinator us very good and as well as doing his job he goes beyond that and assists with anything the residents need. The manager is always available to help you. I would recommend it to anyone.
My husband has been a resident at this home for nearly two years. The staff as a whole, from top to bottom, are kind, friendly and caring. The patience they have shown when dealing with my husband's problems has been exceptional. They have been kind and considerate to me on my visits and I cannot recommend all of them highly enough. My nan was admitted to The Old School House about 2 weeks before the Covid-19 outbreak, so, unfortunately, haven't been inside the home much. My nan seems very happy and looked after by the staff. The activities coordinator keeps her motivated and entertained. All the staff seem caring and my nan says "I'm well looked after". I'm thankful that I get to facetime her regularly thanks to the activities coordinator. Thank you, everyone.
