View Full Details of Selkirk HouseDad moved into Selkirk in August 2021-It was the best thing that we ever did. The wonderful team. "Purple Angels" took the best care of Dad and made his final 3 years the best possible. He had dementia and we were struggling to take care of him. We both did not want to have Dad in a Care home but we are So glad and thankful that we did this. Dad and I had a wonderful time at Selkirk and I can't thank them enough!
It is early days yet but all the staff are lovely, helpful and professional. Mum seems to have settled in well and seems very comfortable. She is not eating much so will need encouragement to eat and drink. Thanks.
I can not praise the staff and general organisation at Selkirk House highly enough. The level of care and empathy given to my mum is just wonderful and most importantly Mum never stops saying how happy she is to be at Selkirk. A heartfelt thank you to all the team!
So pleased with staff and facilities at Selkirk House. Great food and lovely dining room. Mum happy and contented, well looked after. Best thing we did as a family to keep Mum safe and well. All members of staff - including deputy manager, manager and team leaders all ready to help and discuss any issues. Thank you!!!
We are delighted with how well Mum has settled in at Selkirk. The care team is exception and nothing is too much trouble. There is such a positive atmosphere in the home which is lovely.
Mum has been in 15 months and during this period I at last am at peace, that she is safe, happy and well cared for. Also, Mum's care has had to be adjusted as her needs change and I appreciate the regular call to ensure/check that needs are identified and covered within her plan. Change is the enemy for old folk, but all change is carefully managed and new routines established, even if Mum is getting confused now. In December Mum was depressed as this was the time of year we nursed Dad through end of life and a carer spotted this and was attentive to the change in Mum. Also appreciate seeing carers get positive feedback from the manager.
My mum moved into Selkirk House at the beginning of the year. I am delighted with the care and attention she received and every member of staff I have encountered has been extremely kind and caring towards Mum and myself. Mum's room and all the communal areas of the home are clean, tidy and well looked after. There are activities provided every day with which Mum can join in if she wishes to. Overall, I am very pleased that we chose this home for Mum.
My mum has dementia and has lived at Selkirk House for 18 months now. From the outset mum has received such wonderful care. Indeed, she has settled into life at Selkirk so well we couldn't be more delighted. The staff at Selkirk are all so kind and supportive, patient, attentive and this is extended to us as a family. Mum feels safe, happy and truly well looked after. Mum's room is always clean and tidy. The kitchen staff provide a varied choice of delicious meals. The activities team ensure that there is always something interesting and fun to participate in. From quizzes to visits from alpacas. There is always a warm and cheerful atmosphere and laughter to be shared with staff and residents alike. Thank you Selkirk House.
My mum has just moved into Selkirk. The whole process could not have been smoother or more caring. Every member of staff appears to genuinely enjoy their job and takes time to make the residents feel special. Her many medicines are organised, her room is warm and immaculate and she's started to make friends. It's early days, but Mum is settled and loving the fact that the weight of living alone has been lifted.
I am happy that my mum is safe and very well cared for. Staff are attentive and meet her needs. Mum always seems very happy, she has a lovely room and is enjoying living at Selkirk.
My Mum moved into Selkirk House almost two months ago. She has quickly adapted to her new environment and despite her dementia, is now very settled. The staff have been extremely supportive and very responsive to her personal needs and preferences. They encourage Mum to join in with other residents on their daily organised activities which she finds enjoyable and helps her to socialise. There is a friendly, positive atmosphere throughout the home and the best complement I can pay then is that Mum never talks about missing her time in the family home as she is very contented.
My darling mother has lived at Selkirk House for some 20 months now. As her health has deteriorated the level of care needed has increased. I cannot speak too highly of the kindness, compassion and good nature with which she is looked after, not just every day but several times a day. The place is amazing and is staffed by such incredible people from the Manager and the Deputy Manager, through team leaders and carers to the cleaning ladies and management staff. Every one of them is so kind, so professional and so caring. I am so pleased I chose Selkirk Hpuse for my beautiful mother.
After a long search in and around the area, I came across Selkirk House. From the first meeting with the manager, I knew this was the place for my mum to live. I have not been disappointed. The care from the manager to team leaders, care staff, cleaners and not to forget to mention the activities staff have all been one big excellent team to deliver and care for the residents. My mum is loved and cared for with lovely smiles, dignity and respect. She is happy, not stressed and has been kept busy. When not well, she is attended to on a regular basis, sitting and holding her hand, and comforting her. As a family, we also get a lot of support and each time we call or visit we are made so welcome, thank you.
During nearly two years that my wife has been a resident, I have been witness on many occasions to staff showing tact and patience, not only to my wife, but other residents also. I give all staff full marks - 10/10
My Mum has been at Selkirk House now for 6 months and I could not praise them enough for their support and care in looking after her, which at the time was a very difficult decision to make. Mum is happy and safe which is a reassurance and calls it home now. She has settled in really well and has made some good friends with the rest of the residents. The weekly program of activities is good and having a social media page is a great way for me to see what Mum has got up to during the week. The staff are flexible and supportive in continuing Mum's days out and regular routines.
The support and care received by my mother-in-law has been fantastic. All the staff are endlessly kind and very caring. My wife was very upset about having to put her mother into care, due to my illness but she too has nothing but praise for the care her mother receives. Breakfasts are fabulous and the biscuits they make are delicious. Lunch and tea need to be looked at.
Mum moved in to Selkirk House today. Staff really accommodating from pre-assessment to Mum moving in. Welcome basket in her room.
I am satisfied with the care my wife receives at Selkirk House. The staff are always caring and helpful. I feel made welcome when I visit.
My friend of many years recently needed to move to a care home, she was not keen about this but from a lovely pre-assessment to moving in my friend has been treated with respect and loving care and she has settled in really well.
My mother has dementia and recently went into Selkirk House for respite with a view to permanent placement. It was initially traumatic for us all as Mum couldn't understand or remember why she was there. The staff and management were very understanding and supportive. They put lots of measures in place to help Mum settle such as a buddy system. In the first few weeks, there was regular contact giving us feedback and reassurance. She has settled well and is flourishing as a result of the care and attention she is receiving. Everyone is friendly, approachable, warm and caring. The environment is bright and comfortable and there is a good program of activities to encourage residents to socialise and keep them stimulated.
