View Full Details of Kingsmount Residential HomeMy uncle moved to Kingsmount on 30th June 2021 and sadly passed away on 21st Feb 2025. He was looked after wonderfully for the three and a half years and I was always impressed with the cheerful and positive attitude exhibited by all the staff I met and spoke with on the phone. The manager, in particular, has always been a calm and capable voice at times of concern and I was moved to hear that one staff member in particular had visited my uncle in hospital in his final few days.
Mum was at Kingsmount for 18 months the care team have always been very friendly, kind, and cared for Mum in a fantastic way, Mum has now passed away and I would like to thank the whole team at Kingsmount for all the care and attention they have shown. Their support has been so appreciated by our whole family.
My mother was a resident at Kingsmount Residential Home from February 2023 until she sadly passed aways in October 2024. The team at Kingsmount made every effort to meet her changing needs and her various likes and dislikes! My mother loved to talk to her carers about their lives and families, all of the team were so lovely to her and she made some lovely friends. During the last few days of her life, everyone at Kingsmount was exceptional in caring for our mother and in care and support for myself, my sister and family.
My father initially went to Kingsmount in 2018 while my Mom was in hospital. When she was fit she joined him in a double room and loved it, my father was mobile but virtually deaf and blind, the care they received was excellent and they decided to sell their home in Brixham and live in the home. My father has since passed but Mom, who is now 97, still loves her life there and the various staff that look after her. I live in Spain and know that she is receiving excellent care. Whenever I phone or visit, the friendly, caring staff are always fully aware of her condition and regularly pop in to see her. I feel that she is in the best place, where she is looked after like a family member.
My mother entered the care home 4 years ago on end-of-life care. The staff have treated her so well with kindness and understanding I cannot praise them enough. Although she cannot enjoy the communal facilities she is quite happy in her room with a lovely view.
Dad has been a resident at Kingsmount since the beginning of the year. His dementia can make him difficult to deal with at times, particularly with regard to personal care. The staff have been extremely patient with him and have ensured that they build a rapport with him so that he is not so resistant to care, to the point where he now participates in activities in the lounge much more than he ever used to. We are extremely grateful for this level of care and the staff's determination to maintain his quality of life.
The staff at Kingsmount are friendly, welcoming and caring. I am kept updated on any issues or changes that happen and they contact me regularly to ensure I am happy with the service that they are providing. They have been very helpful and quick to provide any information that we have needed and to assist with any changes that we have requested. My mother is very happy and settled in this home.
As a family we were very anxious about Mum going into residential care but from the beginning she was shown care, respect and the staff couldn't do enough for her. Sometimes it's not easy for the person needing 24-hour care to settle but the staff from management down are excellent in making this happen. There are plenty of staff to sit with Mum when she needs it and always tea and cake. There are regular activities in the afternoon from outside entertainers and an activities coordinator on the staff for crafting. The meals are very good and the catering staff quickly got to know Mum's likes and dislikes. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kingsmount and thank you to all the staff for looking after Mum.
My mother was at Kingsmoouth for a year. During the time she was in the home, she had less falls, less visits to the hospital, and her dementia stabilised due to increased interaction with staff. She also gained weight. The staff are very concerned, happy and caring. Her end of life was fairly well managed and she was warm, comfortable and checked on for pain. Any improvement would be the consistency of care could be improved.
My Mum has been at Kingsmount for the last three weeks following a long hospital stay. I cannot fault the lovely staff here, they have gone out of their way to make her feel safe, happy and comfortable. Thank you all at Kingsmount for all your help and support.
The care my father received during what turned out to be the last few weeks of his life was exemplary. All the staff were friendly, extremely caring and treated Dad and the family with respect and dignity. We cannot thank the whole team enough for helping us all through this difficult time. You are amazing!
Dad was admitted following a stay in hospital. He settled very quickly. All staff were very kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble and all things were carried out with smiles on faces. Management had a very caring nature and kept us informed really well. All of our family were extremely happy with the standards and level of care during Dad's stay. Thank you all at Kingsmount.
I visited my good friend who seemed very happy, smartly dressed, hair looking good. Her room was spotless and the staff were kind and helpful and pleasant. I was most impressed.
My mother went to Kingsmount after a fall and was discharged from the hospital. She has been well looked after by friendly professional staff who have always been welcoming to us. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and the home itself is very clean and well-appointed.
My aunt was only in your care for the last six months of her life. When she first arrived after leaving the hospital, we never thought that she would enjoy any more quality time. The difference in her within the first few weeks was amazing, and she went on to enjoy many aspects of the events that your home provides for stimulation for the residents. Sadly, in the last month before she passed, she was unable or really unaware of what was happening, but the fantastic care given by all the staff was wonderful, and my aunt passed away as pain-free as possible, something that the family will always be grateful for. My aunt celebrated her 100th Birthday in October, something we never thought would happen, and a wonderful "Birthday Tea" was laid on privately by the home for my aunt and her family.
Everything about the service and experince at Kingsmount was first class. Mum went in there looking every year of her 95 years but came out like a spring chicken, looking 20 years younger after just six weeks. When she went in there, it looked like being permanent, but they did such a good job that she was raring to get home after a few weeks. Many thanks to all at Kingsmount for their excellent service.
Such a lovely place. The staff make it a gold star for me. Their kindness, reassurance is outstanding and, more importantly, they all seem happy (happy staff, happy residents). My father loves it there; he never wants to leave. Activities are fantastic and keep my dad entertained; this puts my mind at ease. Would highly recommend it!
My sister has been in Kingsmount for a short period so far and so my review is based on my findings in this short time. The staff are numerous and friendly and genuinely want to make the residents stay as comfortable as possible. There is a schedule of outside entertainers who come into Kingsmount. We have noticed an improvement to my sister's well-being.
This is a review of the staff at Kingsmount Residential Home in Paignton who looked after my father for the last two years of his life. As a family, we are eternally grateful for the care they gave my father, especially the last year with his various ailments. The biggest compliment I can give them is the staff treated my father as if he was one of their own family and gave him great care always they treated him with compassion and dignity in his final few weeks. As a family we applaud them. Thank you.
The staff are always very helpful and understanding. Although Mum does not take a lot of food, the staff ensure she gets help when needed. They never complain when Mum spills her drink and they have to change her bedding, sometimes more than once a day! Mum says "I like this Hotel and the Manager is very nice"
