View Full Details of Southbourne Care HomeI just wanted to write a short note of thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Southbourne for all their hard work, dedication, kindness, and love which they provide to all the residents at Southbourne Care Home. My mum is so lucky to be cared for by a group of such wonderful people. We were particularly moved over the Christmas period to be able to observe the participation and interaction between all the staff and residents at Southbourne over a packed program of events. It is almost impossible to quantify the huge difference that you make to the resident's lives, and to see the dignity and compassion with which you young (mostly!) people treat the residents is truly wonderful.
Southbourne looked after my dad recently, the staff were amazing with dad and the management staff he loved very much. We cannot fault this care home, the staff looked after dad so much that he had his favourites, we cannot as a family thank Southbourne staff enough for everything they did for dad. They also got along with our family. It put our minds at rest, we were very much supported by the management and staff nothing was too much trouble. We as a family can't thank you enough I would highly recommend this care home.
Review on behalf of my father who died in this home in less than 3 weeks. Overall experience very poor. Management very poor. Treated with dignity very poor. Cleanliness is very poor. Rooms are very poor. Overall care and support very poor. Staff very poor. Communication very poor. Compassion towards resident very poor. On accepting my father into this home his needs in every way including lack of mobility, lack of hearing, lack of understanding of normal everyday things, and lack of continence were not addressed in my view, in an acceptable basic care of duty manner. Communication with my mother, the wife of the resident, was not treated in a caring professional manner but in a dismissive uncaring, almost aggressive manner. As this home is in Torquay and our family lives 25-40 miles away he didn't keep his regular doctor. We asked several times for a doctor to see him due to his fast deterioration of health and being in pain, when home actually got a doctor it was basically too late. RIP Dad.
I find the staff very friendly and helpful, and most of the residents have made me feel welcome. I really enjoy mind-gym; it keeps me ticking over and trips out on the trishaw and the minibus.
