View Full Details of Spetisbury ManorMum has been with Spetisbury for nearly two years now. The carers are lovely, and management always tries their best to meet Mum's needs. Whenever there is anything that Mum needs to discuss, they will listen to Mum or one of the family and try to resolve the issue. In the current climate where it is so hard to find staff, they are doing really well to all pull together. Thank you to all the staff at Spetisbury.
There is no denying that the grounds at Spetisbury are beyond compare. However, gravel paths make them inaccessible to wheelchair users and lack of staff or any ability to call for assistance from the grounds means that they are unusable. There are two summer houses in the grounds which in the 11 months my parents were there were never in use. My dad, who has very poor mobility, spent at least 21 hours a day in a pokey room which was arranged so that he couldn’t even see out of the window, meaning despite having a beautiful vista over the river, his view was of a wall. He was put to bed at 3pm every afternoon and stayed there until morning. The ‘entertainment’ consists of a variety of singers or the TV before which the residents are plonked with no interactive activities whatsoever. Any issues we had were handled poorly, there is no effective complaints procedure and any contact to the owner has to go through the manager.
I moved my parents out of Spetisbury Manor in Feb 2023 because I was so concerned about the home and the way my parents were treated. It's like 'Fawlty Towers' and does not live up to its claim of being 'luxury' apart from the extortionate price. The owner is focused on profits not care, and there is evidence of penny-pinching everywhere. The manager took an instant dislike to my mother and treated her very unprofessionally, making her extremely unhappy. There were numerous ongoing and repeated issues with Dads' care. The carers are lovely, but they are overworked and corners are cut. We made many complaints most of which were dismissed or made excuses for. My parents are now in a fantastic care home where they are very happy, where we have no complaints and they are treated with dignity and respect. Please don't make the same mistake I made - choose a different care home.
What a beautiful retirement home. I would like to thank everyone at Spetisbury Manor for making my mother's stay at home so comfortable, she was very happy there. having just entered from home from respite care she has already booked dates for her next visits. All the staff are exceptionally kind and professional and take genuine interest in the residents.
I like the staff and that's the most important thing. They are all efficient and friendly whatever job they do. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel truly cared for and my opinions are considered. I'm included in decisions about my care and I'm given choices. I am comfortable in every way here. Staff smile and make me feel happy. They know me as I am now and something of who I have been in the past. Spetisbury Manor is sensitively and professionally managed. It's well organised and on an individual basis to make residents feel at home.
Since moving to Spetisbury Manor my mother in law has found a new lease of life. She no longer has the burden of household bills and running cost of repairs etc. She can still take part in all the everyday life things she enjoys. Especially gardening and walking in the beautiful grounds. As a family, we all feel very positive as to how her life has been enhanced by her move to this residential setting. The staff are all welcoming, caring and have time for everyone.
The care, attention and time that all the staff at Spetisbury Manor give to mum is very good. All the carers and managers are so friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. I know that mum is safe, well-cared for and very comfortable in her new home. It has given her a new lease of life and independence.
Have used this care home many times. The first time I used it (for my mother) my mother was not very happy about the idea, but now, I use it for respite care, when she knows she is going she looks forward to it. An ideal place to stay.
With its elegant orangery and lovely grounds rolling down to the river, Spetisbury Manor combines the appearance of an upmarket country house hotel with the warm and friendly atmosphere of a happy family home. The excellent staff are professional, genuinely caring, respectful towards residents and relatives and very approachable.
Situated in fine grounds running down to the River Stour this country-house style private care home provides excellent care in a warm, friendly manner by a manager and staff truly concerned for the wellbeing and contentment of the residents. The atmosphere is that of a warm and friendly country-house hotel rather than that of an institution. The residents appear to feel safe and secure and staff teamwork is good. I have no reservations in recommending this private care home.
My mother has visited Spetisbury Manor for respite care two and three times yearly for the past five years. During this time she has been taken care of with professionalism and attention to personal detail. The staff have treated her as an old friend on each visitation and the family have been warmly welcomed, including the great-grandchildren. My mother enjoys her stay there and is always eager to return.
My mother arrived in Spetisbury Manor, initially for respite care, but has now become a permanent resident. As a resident of Spetisbury, my wife and I were already aware of glowing reports of the home. In the last 3 months, we have experienced exceptional care for my mother, who had her 97th birthday in the home. All the staff show kindness and care at all times, and my mother, who was recovering from a fall before coming to the home, has recovered from that shock and is becoming more mobile. Many thanks to all the excellent staff at Spetisbury Manor.
