View Full Details of Buxton HouseAll the staff are very friendly and helpful and I feel have a genuine care for the residents they look after, I truly believe we could not of found a better care home for our Mum, it was a big decision but definitely the right one.
I was worried when we came to the decision that Mum needed full time care that we could no longer sustain at home with her worsening Vascular Dementia. It was with a heavy heart that we placed Mum at Buxton House, however I cannot speak highly enough of the care she is now receiving there. Between my Mums siblings one of us will see her almost everyday and of course she will talk of returning home in the future but always tells us how nice the people are in her 'hotel' !!! She enjoys the food, the activities and the days out they have. Most recently I visited her on Valentines Day and the Events co-ordinators had organised a lunch for residents with one family member able to have a specially set up Valentines meal. Really meant a lot to me to spend those few precious hours with her in such a nicely created setting. Thank you Buxton House.
Mum moved in October 2024, from the start she was made to feel very welcome and settled as well as can be expected. I cannot rate the staff highly enough they all know mum and are extremely caring. The activities are good and if she goes to them she does enjoy it although sometimes has to be persuaded to go. The cleanliness is outstanding, both in her room and general areas. Mum enjoys the food and there is a lot of variation. It's very professionally run and I feel totally reassured knowing mum is there and she is safe, well looked after and happy.
The care and support mum receives is excellent. We are always contacted in cases of any concern to do with mum. Staff are always friendly and make us very welcome. Never had any problems talking to staff about any queries we have had
We were warmly welcome to Buxton House where my dad was given a large, bright, scrupulously clean ensuite bedroom. It is well decorated and furnished and has a warm homely environment. All the staff have shown great care, compassion and understanding of my dad and his needs. He is now well setled and happy and interacts naturally with the staff and other residents, its lovely to see. The staff have gone to great lengths to give my mum and me lots of support and calm, patient reassurance. About dads day to day care needs, we're both hugely grateful for their professionalism and kindness. I can very confidently recommend Buxton House to anybody requiring dementia care for a loved one.
Staff are always happy and polite. My mother is happy with the kindness of the staff and always says the food is nice and the staff are always friendly. The activities are always welcome as she is a bit of a doer despite having mobility issues.
The most important asset a care home has is its staff and I've found Buxton House staff to be attentive, kind, caring and professional. If there are any problems I get a call, usually from one member of staff, in particular, to discuss protocols, solutions or to ask my opinion. They even offer a listening ear or a hug if I look as if I need one. Cleanliness is good and staff always respond quickly to any problems. It was clear at Christmas that the staff had worked their socks off to clean and do whatever it took to re-open the home for Christmas after an outbreak. Thank you.
My mum has high care needs and one of those is 24-hour available assistance. I am very happy not only with the care but the engagement provided for my mother who is a resident here. There are daily things to do and frequent special events. Best of all, although Mum is encouraged to take part, she is never made to and I feel that her own preferences are really listened to. She has a television in her room if she doesn't feel like company. I am always treated well by the Buxton House staff and they are friendly and understanding, keeping me updated with Mum's care as well as letting me know any concerns. This is not a care home where elderly people are parked in a room to wait their time out - it's a place where my mum is taken proper care of and the chance to enjoy life as much as she can. She has been so much happier here than for many years before and I am very grateful. (Because she is provided for by local authority care, I can't rate the costs.)
It's ok. Thanks!
All staff are so very helpful and Mum seems very happy, Mum's room and the home are always very clean and there are plenty of friendly staff whenever we need them. Certainly, the menu for the day's food always looks varied with a great choice.
Unfortunately, after a short stay in hospital, my mum could no longer go home. After looking for a care home, we were, thankfully, allowed for Mum to move there. Mum's dementia is progressing and can be very emotional at times. But the care and respect she is shown is absolutely amazing. Not only are the staff amazing with Mum, they're amazing with me too. As coping with the guilt hasn't been easy and they have been wonderful. All the staff are so lovely and friendly and I feel if I had any concerns I could easily approach them. Also, the home is kept so clean and tidy, rooms cleaned every day. I'm so happy Mum is at Buxton House.
Our mother went to Buxton House from hospital. We were expecting her to be coming home but unfortunately, this wasn't possible. We were very happy that we managed to get her accepted and she appears to be enjoying being there. The staff are all wonderful and so friendly with not only the residents but the families as well. We can take our mother's dogs in to see her at any time which has been a real bonus.
The staff at Buxton House are lovely, friendly and very helpful. The food looks delicious. It is difficult as my mother can't see well and cannot stand unaided, so A) she can't see food or drink and B) because of her memory, she can't remember she can't walk and has had three falls, one causing her to break her hip. I know it is difficult but her clothes keep going missing too!
I am always impressed by how friendly all the staff are. It is good to see that they properly know my mother and care sensitively for her.
My wife is in Buxton House being well cared for, very good staff and management. The 4 ladies in the animation are brilliant.
I have been treated with the greatest care, respect and made to feel like part of the family. I am very happy.
Mum has been going downhill slowly since September 2023 - has had several "episodes" for various things. Staff are quick to inform me and explain what's happened each time. Today, I have had a chat regarding Mum with the manager who has fully explained Mum's situation and what she is trying to do to help Mum. Am happy with all she has told me today.
The day rooms are always clean and bright, and the staff are always cheerful and attentive to everyone. There is a lovely atmosphere.
All ok so far.
My lovely, nearly 97-year-old mum, recently moved into Buxton House. She was warmly welcomed by all of the staff and made to feel completely at home. When she fell unwell and the doctor confirmed that she would not recover, her care changed to Palliative Care. I would like to thank the truly wonderful staff at Buxton House and the Community Nurses, all of whom worked as a team, for the heartfelt care shown and practical help that they gave to my mum. I stayed with Mum at home for her last few precious days of life, and this care and compassion were also extended to me. What a privilege it was to be surrounded by such genuine concern. The overall holistic approach shown by this dedicated group of people is truly amazing and my mum could not have been better cared for.
