View Full Details of Danmor Lodge LtdMy cousin has been a resident here for 2 years and the care cannot be faulted. She has a very comfortable, clean en-suite room and communal areas are also kept to this high standard. Home cooked food and a daily menu choice are impressive. All staff are friendly, caring and aware of individual requirements for their residents. Communication from admin staff is regular and comprehensive, regarding the residents health issues and activities available and these staff are readily available for face to face inquiries for information when required. Highly recommended.
I was very pleased with the care my father received while he was a resident for a year. The staff treated him very kindly and always knew when he was ill and sought medical advice promptly. He was always clean and well turned out. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a relative
Although the home is tired the staff really seem to care about the residents and do try to make them happy, staff sing to residents, give them a little touch, talk to them at eye level without being condescending. Staff talk about the residents family to them and their interests. The food is tasty a choice is always given, when eating is difficult ways are conceived to give nourishment that the resident likes the taste of. Clothes are washed daily and residents kept clean and comfortable. Only negative is that what a resident liked when able to say preferences does not always continue when dementia worsens i.e not wanting male carers to do personal care, and 2 male staff doing it when 1 male and 1 female would have been acceptable. Also resident wishing to be known by Mr or Mrs and surname until they knew member of staff well but new staff using Christian name from the start. We looked at many homes in Weymouth before settling on Danmor for level of care and empathy it's the best.
My mother passed away recently. Her care during her time at Danmor lodge was good, the staff are friendly, they understood and met her care needs, she had advanced dementia. We, as a family where always kept up to date via a monthly Email and on the many visits we made to see mum the staff where always friendly and happy to help with any questions or concerns we had. The establishment is clean and, mum was always well kept, we did not need to make appointment times to visit her, a flexible visiting procedure is operated.
My wife suffered from Alzheimer's and was a resident at Danmoor Lodge for over 7 years. During that time, as she slowly deteriorated, she always received excellent professional service, as well as what can only be described as loving care. She died in August 2024 and in the last week or two when the end was near the home could not have been more helpful. My family and I could visit at any time. On the day before my wife died my daughter stayed with her all night, and if at any time no family was around, staff would sit with her, although she was not aware of what was happening. When she died everyone continued to be supportive, respectful and happy to give me support. I cannot speak too highly of this home whose high-quality standard of care I have experienced for so many years.
Based on 4 individual family experiences, the setting is comfortable with remote and physical access to specialist GP-led and external virtual support ensuring medical advice, diagnosis and treatment is quickly accessed. Comfortable surroundings and interaction with other residents and carers are encouraged, 'a home from home' rather than a 'ward-type' setting. Activities are provided, within the confines of resident choice and physical/mental abilities. Music is high on the agenda. I felt the setting provides value for money too. End-of-life care is exceptional, easing the burden on family, and providing 'open access' to loved ones, without escalation to a Hospital unless necessary. Staff turnover is 'low' and long-standing staff are very approachable, well-intentioned and know the residents well, facilitating individual requests and tastes where possible. Management and communications are friendly, frequent and efficient. Can thoroughly recommend Danmor based on our own family experiences.
After losing my dad to a care home in Cornwall, mum requested I move her to a care home in Weymouth. After reading reviews and talking to friends Danmor Lodge fitted the care needs of my mum as she had very little mobility from Strokes. Mum was treated with respect by the team and very well looked after in every aspect of her daily life, she always looked clean and smart, and she absolutely loved the home-cooked food which helped immensely with her diabetes. I was well informed by the home of every aspect of mum's care. Mum really enjoyed her time at the home they made her feel part of a large family. Sadly mum passed away in January of this year she had been unwell but the Home had ensured she was seen both by Doctors and District nurses. The End of Life Care my mum received from the Team at Danmor was excellent, everything was done with care and dignity, they were supportive and compassionate to me during those difficult times for which I will be forever grateful.
Re: my husband's end-of-life care. The staff at Danmor Lodge Care Home were very supportive to me and so very kind and caring to my husband, keeping him clean, warm and comfortable at all times. I was spending all day at the home and they provided me with food and endless cups of tea and coffee. The night staff contacted me when they thought the end was coming as they knew I wanted to be with him. When the end came they allowed me time to say my goodbyes and supported me in my grief. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff, not just the care workers but everyone who works there. Thank you everyone.
Danmor Lodge provides a high standard of care, meeting my father's difficult circumstances. The management provides a very good level of communication with me, involving me in the important decisions. The staff are friendly and show a great personal interest in my father's interests and issues. They show great patience with my father's lack of communication abilities, due to dementia.
Professional and exceptional care given. This is a first-class nursing home kept to a very high standard. Very thorough in all areas and rapid response to all Mum’s medical needs as well as her normal day-to-day living requirements. Mum is eating well and mobility much improved due to the support and encouragement given. Warm and friendly greetings were given upon visiting. The staff are fantastic! Nothing is too much and they have always gone out of their way to help in any way they can. Mum’s feelings are always taken into consideration which is important to me as well. I am kept up to date at all times and also receive a monthly report. I really cannot say thank you enough!
Danmor Lodge was recommended to us by a close friend. When we visited the home we feel it had a homely feel and that the staff were friendly and kind, you knew that they loved their jobs and you felt that they ready did care. Later we saw the range of activities that the home provided for its residents, encouraging them or just letting them watch in the communal lounge, where we were always welcome and could join in as well. The room was ensuite, cosy and felt like a bedroom, we were allowed to personalise with furnishings and photos etc. making it her room. If we visited near meal time we saw that the residents were well looked after with choices of meals. We could visit at any time which was a bonus as we all worked. We cannot praise the staff enough for all that they did for our aunt while she was at Danmor Lodge.
My Mum was a resident at Danmor Lodge from 30/7/21 until her death on 6/4/22. She was suffering with vascular dementia and mobility problems. I have nothing but praise for all the staff. She was very well looked after by everyone who came into contact with her. My Mum started to deteriorate last November and by March she was bedridden and was unable to do anything for herself. The staff were very caring towards her until her passing on 6th April. My sister and I were always kept informed by the home regarding her care. We are both extremely grateful/appreciative to everyone at Danmor Lodge.
We chose Danmor Lodge to provide residential care initially because it had a homely feel and that the staff were friendly and kind. We liked the range of activities and the stimulation on offer. The catering staff provided nourishing meals for the residents - alongside homemade cake! The room was very comfortable which we were encouraged to personalise with furnishings and photos etc. I can’t thank the staff enough for their care and kindness - particularly this last year where the Covid pandemic meant that there were no visitors. The managers of Danmor have a real understanding of what is required to make the resident feel comfortable during the latter stages of life. He was given exemplary personal care alongside sufficient medication to keep him comfortable. The caring staff showed dignity and respect at all times. I can highly recommend Danmor Lodge.
My father was a resident of Danmor Lodge for almost 10 years until he passed away in January 2021. During that time my dad's care needs changed significantly as dementia increasingly impacted his abilities. He spent over two years confined to his bed at the end of his life. During this long period of time, the commitment and genuine care of the care staff and management of Danmor Lodge made me feel utterly confident that he was being looked after with professionalism and compassion. I felt they were always on top of his pain relief and the medical complications that accompany dementia. Dad was always clean as was his room, especially commendable when he was bed-bound for so long. Danmor Lodge itself is immaculate, friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh daily and the menu varies. I will always be so thankful that we secured a place at Danmor Lodge all those years ago and I would not hesitate to recommend this exceptional care home.
My lovely friend, who I cared for, was in Danmor Lodge for just over three weeks before she passed away. The home was chosen for me due to Coronavirus and the shortage of places in Care Homes. I cannot speak highly enough - because of Covid, I didn't go inside, but I was kept up to date with everything going on. Very approachable, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Danmor Lodge to anyone.
I cannot praise the staff of Danmor Lodge highly enough; they were all friendly, hard-working, and caring. The living areas were comfortable and there were always plenty of activities organised. Residents’ rooms were always kept extremely clean and tidy and the menu was varied, with plenty of choice.
As the person responsible for an old friend’s care; I really appreciated Danmor Lodge’s excellent services. The care staff were committed, cheerful and always available. It was obvious that they cared about my friend’s mental and physical well-being and, although suffering dementia, he invariably responded to their attention with a smile. He also benefited from the fact that there is very little staff turnover, so he was surrounded by familiar faces. The building itself is welcoming and bright, and residents’ rooms airy and comfortable. The food is appetising and plentiful. The management team emailed me monthly updates about my friend’s condition, and I was consulted on any small changes. In the weeks leading up to his death, I was kept fully informed about the situation, and both the management and immediate care teams were professional and efficient, administering concerned and compassionate care. My overall experience of Danmor was a totally positive one, and I was very impressed.
My father only spent six months in Danmor Lodge but during that time we were always made to feel like we were part of a large extended family. The managers are visible and know the residents well. There is a stable workforce who are very kind and caring. All the residents are treated as individuals with compassion and dignity. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere as soon as you enter and even though my father is sadly no longer there, I am welcomed warmly whenever I visit his very elderly cat who has now been adopted by another resident. There is a range of activities held in the resident's lounge, which all residents, regardless of their mental capacity are encouraged or helped to take part in. Danmor Lodge is always clean with none of the smells usually associated with care homes. My father’s clothes were laundered and ironed immaculately. There is good communication between the home and relatives as I received monthly emails regarding my fathers care.
A genuine welcome was felt from the moment the Danmor Lodge door was opened; inside is sweet smelling from a high standard of cleanliness with residents who are clearly well cared for. Mum enjoys the varied menu of delicious homemade food. She is happy to have her own en-suite toilet with a live link so the staff ‘know when I am up, they come and check on me’. Despite having Alzheimer’s Mum has blossomed and is able to make choices about her day to day living and activities. Mum, who was very modest around personal care now thrives and enjoys baths and hairdos as staff create a positive atmosphere which promotes her dignity. The hard-working, stable staff benefit from ongoing training and I have noticed how they treat each resident as a valued individual. Hands-on management head up a professional and friendly team acting with genuine warmth, dedication and kindness ensuring Mum is safe and receiving exemplary care from the new family we are lucky to join during her twilight years.
Danmor has a very homely feel and all the staff (including carers, office, cleaning and laundry staff) are very caring and friendly and took time to get to know my mum, they all quickly became friends. Nothing is to much trouble and they will go the extra mile to accommodate all requests. Danmor is kept spotlessly clean and there was never any unpleasant smells which you sometimes have in other care homes. We were kept informed of all aspects to my mums care with a regular monthly update and if anything important happened inbetween updates we were immediately contacted.
