View Full Details of Larks Leas Rest HomeLarks Leas Rest Home is like a home from home. All the staff are amazing, friendly and very caring. My father loved his time there and made lots of friends. I am very grateful for all they did for my father.
Lark Lea's Care Home was fantastic for my Dad. The care team and manager were very helpful, and supportive and cared for him in a very respectful manner, even after my dad passed away. I would definitely recommend this care home.
Mum had become frail and needed care, although she did not instantly accept her predicament and the reliance on others. The whole team at Larks Leas did their utmost to welcome and integrate Mum, initially for respite but with a view to it becoming permanent. The room was freshly decorated, had a pleasant garden view and felt comfortable and homely. Mum was a somewhat fussy vegetarian but the kitchen staff did their utmost to help find her food and choices that she liked. Having experienced some rather poor treatment from two different hospitals the whole atmosphere and level of care provided by Larks Leas was very reassuring and we knew that Mum was being cared for properly. Integrated correctly with treatment from local GPs and nurses. Without a doubt, it was a difficult decision to place Mum into a care home but Larks Leas did their utmost to make the transition as smooth as possible. I would not hesitate to recommend them as an ideal location for residential care.
Relaxing and polite. Really enjoyed my stay. Will be sorry to leave.
The care my mother received in her stay at Larks Leas was full of love and compassion. They treated her with the utmost dignity until her passing.
Mom was very independent and reluctant to go into care. So back in late 2021, we arranged initially for her to have a 'holiday' for two or three weeks at a highly recommended rest home. She felt so happy and secure at Larks Leas that she remained on her holiday until January 2024 when she passed away at the age of 91. Mom being a very gregarious soul enjoyed the community, and made one or two very special friends, who along with the caring staff made her sojourn at Larks a delightful period in her life. The living conditions at the home were excellent, Larks is not a huge old building like some care homes, it is a fairly modern building with a nice intimate friendly feel to it. Her room was lovely and well-kept. Mother was always a good cook herself and greatly appreciated the fine meals provided by the kitchens, good variety every day. And finally to the staff and home management, who were excellent, helpful, and supportive at all times, thank you for looking after my mother so well.
Two weeks recovery accommodation. Food and staff very good.
Mum spent her last few years at Larks Lees. She arrived after being in an interim placement during Covid. She was helped to feel at home and secure. Her room was beautiful and overlooked the gardens. Mum, unfortunately, developed dementia and became bedridden, and the care and love shown to her were outstanding. She passed away whilst I was abroad, but I was informed daily of the situation, and the most amazing caring staff, including Mum's ‘angel’ stayed with her the entire time. I will be forever grateful that I found Larks Lees for Mum.
The care my mum received from the home was always personal and professional. Mum was made to feel part of a family, and she always enjoyed taking part in the activities and got on well with the residents. At Mum's end-of-life care, the home went over and above to make Mum's last days as happy and restful as possible.
The home is very homely and friendly. The night staff are excellent, day staff varies, some are excellent and some not so. Not encouraged to go outside, shame as lovely garden here. No parasols and some small tables would be lovely.
After a few years of my 91-year-old father trying to remain living independently he finally, and sadly, conceded that he could no longer cope living at home. After a fair bit of research, we settled on Larks Leas. And thank goodness we did. It's been a wonderful, reassuring experience for what could have a been traumatic life-changing event. Dad settled in instantly. The staff are so brilliant, caring and friendly, all of them. Dad literally has a new lease of life. Everywhere is clean, the garden is gorgeous. As a family, we are kept fully updated and always made to feel welcome. As a nurse of 40+ years, I'm so comforted knowing I can take off my nurse's hat and just concentrate on being my dad's daughter.
My father moved into Larks Leas Rest Home on 26th March 2020 from Hospital and remained there until 15th June 2023 where he passed away peacefully under the loving care of the Larks Leas team. From day one my father was made to feel wanted and settled in immediately. This was an interesting time, Covid plans were put in place by the Larks Leas team. A pod was planned and built to enable face-to-face contact, so important for my father, brilliant. Every little detail to help my father feel at home; an extra gravy (thick) boat at lunch, his own bottle of Worcestershire Sauce with his name on ready for his cooked breakfast. Mending his trousers et cetera. For me, my phone calls, emails responded straight away. Phone calls if he was not well with the latest information. My father was 97 when he passed away. I passionately believe we had him longer due to the care and organisation given by the whole Larks Leas team. Thank you so much.
Absolutely excellent care. All the staff are very kind and obliging. Marvellous food. Fantastic range of activities provided. I am also involved heavily with taking part and helping to organise events in the home. This is very important to me.
I could not have wished for a better place for my mum to spend her last 18 months. During this time she was happy and content and so very well cared for with kindness and consideration. The staff are wonderful and I was always kept well informed and always felt I could phone if I had any concerns. Larks Leas has a lovely homely atmosphere created by lovely staff and I would thoroughly recommend it.
I moved my mother from London during the pandemic, where she was living alone and isolated, suffering from poor social services care and in a traumatic state, to be in better care and just down the road to me. She was 94 years old. Lark Leas provided her with exceptional care, not easy because of her age and the fact that she was practically blind and very deaf. Although my mother had falls and suffered through age from frequent UTIs, and could become disorientated and difficult to handle, they remained caring and supportive towards her at all times. She died on Christmas day last year, but I think that the year and a half that she stayed at Lark Leas gave her the peace, security and care that she needed before her passing. I highly recommend Lark Leas as perhaps the best care home in Blandford and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.
Larks Leas Rest Home has always struck me as a respected retirement home. As a former resident, I can attest to the outstanding reputation. What I like the most is the carefree lifestyle. All of these once-overwhelming responsibilities are no longer a source of concern for me. I'm enjoying my stay; it seems like home here. Unfortunately, I had to shift with my brother to a new home.
My father moved into Larks Leas from his own bungalow where he was needing an increasing amount of care. He was very complimentary about the quality of the food and the care that he received. He enjoyed being in the lounge and mixing with the other residents. I found everyone very friendly and I felt that he was treated with great care and much kindness. The Manager always knew what was going on and manages the home in an efficient but friendly manner. Unfortunately, dad became had a spell in hospital and then deteriorated. He was treated with such kindness in his last few days. Larks Leas was recommended to us and it was a fine choice.
Very helpful and caring staff who took excellent care of mum. The food was excellent and the staff worked hard to get mum involved in the daily activities. Unfortunately, mum's condition deteriorated and she had to move to a home specialising in dementia care. Larks Leas Rest Home helped make the transfer as stress free as possible.
Both my parents lived at Larks Leas for two/three years. The care provided was very good and I felt confident that they were being well looked after. The food was good and well prepared/presented which is very important. The carers were always professional, patient, kind, friendly, welcoming, and approachable. Given the hours they work and the nature of the tasks they perform, they must be truly very special people. The atmosphere was homely and I felt the home benefitted from being a smaller operation than many others. The management was efficient and the manager and her staff responded promptly to requests and suggestions. I formed the impression that the home was well supported by the owners. Things that needed upgrading and replacing were attended to without delay. Unlike some other, privately owned residential homes where money is spent on the rooms the public use/see at Larks Leas the furniture and fittings in residents' rooms were of a good standard and well maintained.
Initially, my mum went into Larks Leas temporarily whilst her house was repaired after a water leak, but then she realised that life there for a 94 year old was much preferable to the struggles that she was having at home, so she stayed for the best part of 5 years until she recently peacefully passed away. She was very happy there and, I too was much happier in the knowledge that she was being well looked after, both day and night. I live nearly 100 miles away so, whilst I visited as often as I could, I also relied upon telephone calls with my mum and the staff in order to keep in touch, together with emails, particularly during the various recent lockdowns: at all times, I was kept well informed about any changes to procedures in the home and visiting arrangements. I believe that the professionalism, especially during the pandemic; and care shown to my mum by the staff has been second to none: I came to regard the team there as an extension of my family.
