View Full Details of Millbrook House Residential Care HomeMy two week stay at Millbrook House Residential Care Home came as a huge blessing following all the hard work and stress entailed in moving house from Poole to nearby Shaftesbury. The care there was perfect - unobtrusive, gentle and sensitive to one's needs. It was an absolute pleasure to be there, and in such wonderful surroundings. Thank you very, very much!
Our friend has been at Millbrook for 5 years now and when we first viewed the home we needed to ensure that this could be his forever home. Our initial impression was wow and in all this time it has not changed. The home is delightful, clean, spacious and welcoming. The staff have always been considerate, courteous, and kind. Our friend is treated with the utmost respect and is allowed to be himself. He is happy and content and we cannot thank the management and staff for all that they do. We are always made welcome and we can leave each time completely assured that our friend is where he needs to be, with people who truly care about him.
It's difficult to have to move a loved one into care. After a local search, Millbrook House was chosen to be the right place for our mother, as soon as stepping through the front door. Inside this beautiful property, you will find professional and extremely caring staff who know their charges extremely well. No issue is too small. Mum moved in at the beginning of 2020 and was well protected and cared for during the pandemic when we were unable to visit until a room with a screen was set up, allowing us to be in the same space. We also spent many of our visits in the beautiful garden when rules allowed. We are informed on health issues as necessary, and there appear to be good links with the local GP practice. We have found the management to be excellent and totally approachable. Millbrook is a family, and we are proud to be part of it.
Millbrook House Residential Care Home is a beautiful setting and I enjoyed my short respite stay.
I very much enjoyed my stay at Millbrook House. The facilities were very homely and the staff very welcoming. I enjoyed the food and some of the activities., I would be very happy to visit again for a respite stay, as I preferred Millbrook House to other respite visits I have experienced.
My mother is receiving excellent care - good food, good company and very attentive staff. I am delighted that my mother is very happy and enjoying the programme of activities.
After about three days, I settled into the Millbrook House Residential Care Home routine. I especially enjoyed the meals as they were exceptional and obviously, it was good not having to cook them myself. I was at Millbrook House for respite care after a fall and subsequent hip operation and my stay definitely helped me with my confidence for when I returned home. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience and I was looked after very well.
My mother has been here a year and is very happy and well cared for. The staff are very kind, caring, and hard-working, she is very fond of them. The house and gardens are lovely in this beautiful village.
Millbrook House Residential Care Home is surrounded by such beautiful gardens and the house itself is a credit to all concerned. Having been here for two very happy years, I look forward to my remaining years.
We are so pleased we chose Millbrooks - the staff are always cheerful and welcoming and my father is very happy. We feel that he is having the best of care.
After a couple of short respite stays, my mother decided to move permanently to Millbrook a year ago and it's been a great success. She looks really well and it's clear that's because she is being so well looked after. Teh staff are very caring yet very professional and considerate. The leadership is excellent and impacts every element of Millbrook - from personal care to the food, to the lovely grounds and upkeep of the property. Of course, it comes at a price, but knowing Mym is happy, well cared for and has the company of other residents and staff, is invaluable.
We had looked at other homes in the area and found the food to be bland and unappealing. When we visited Millbrook House they had their own chef and staff and the food was exceptional. In later life, having enjoyable meals each day makes such a difference. We therefore began by having my father stay for a month and we found that as with the attention to the food, the attention of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility and the homely feel of the place really shone through. My father has now been at Millbrook House for six months. He is settled and tells me often how he feels safe and a part of the place. This is such a relief to us and we are immensely grateful to the management who have helped guide us and the super friendly and caring staff.
Our father has been with Millbrook House Residential Care Home for two wonderful years. It started with a two-week respite break and he enjoyed it so much he’s never left. When we first visited, the staff said that the residents were like family to them and we can honestly say that this is the case. The manager runs a tight ship and ensures that everything runs smoothly with the best care given. Dad has been getting weaker recently (92 years old) and they still show so much compassion and care and let us know of any concerns. Their food is delicious. It is like eating in a small, boutique hotel with plenty of choice and the dessert trolley is to die for! The gardens are immaculate and they grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers. There are always fresh flowers decorating the home and on each resident’s birthday, they get a bouquet and individually baked birthday cake. As a family, we cannot speak highly enough of this home and so glad that we chose it for our father.
Millbrook House Residential Care Home is delightful. The manager deserves top marks for her dedicated expertise in managing this wonderful home. The carers are so cheerful and kind and my husband has had superb attention. The ambience of the home is very warm and it is truly a 'home from home'. I would recommend it highly to anyone seeking care for an elderly relative. Five stars!
My father entered Millbrook House following a fall - after only two weeks he said he does not want to leave. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. He has been brilliantly cared for and has continued to recover each day. He particularly loves the food and all the carers. The whole atmosphere at Millbrook House is happy and the gardens are beautiful.
Both my parents are at Millbrook House - both have different needs. My Father, until recently didn't require any care but is now finding he needs extra help. Staff are very attentive to his needs but aware of his desire for independence! They always have a smile and are very courteous.
Millbrook staff are efficient and friendly. It really does feel like a home, not an institution. Dad's room is delightful, always clean and well-presented. I have complete confidence in the management and all staff to have Dad's best interests uppermost. I'm very happy he's there. The gardens are a joy.
Food - variable - sometimes good, sometimes poor - meat can be chewy. Lack of variety and interesting dishes.
Our mother was a resident at Millbrook until she passed away two weeks ago. My sisters and I could not speak more highly of Millbrook and all of its staff. They combined compassion and skill with extraordinary patience and kindness. Our mother was made extremely welcome in her pretty and clean room. She enjoyed good wholesome food in the bright and airy day rooms. However, it was particularly towards the end of her life that we all came to appreciate their incredible commitment to their work and our mother despite the pressures of end of life care. The manager and all of her team are incredibly professional and will have our eternal gratitude for the way they managed our mother as her life ended. With sincere thanks to them all.
My mother-in-law has been made most welcome during her stay at this care home over the last 6 weeks. The staff have been very caring towards her and she often comments on how kind and friendly they are. The beautiful old Georgian House is full of character and the home itself is kept immaculately clean. It is set in a picturesque village with views across the beautifully kept gardens towards Hambledon Hill. There are a variety of activities for the residents and my mother-in-law has particularly enjoyed visits from the local school and nursery children who have entertained the residents with their singing and nativity play. She has also enjoyed trips out for lunch at the local pub, as well as Garden and Christmas parties. There is a choice of food on the menu and my mother-in-law has particularly enjoyed the delicious homemade soups and hot dishes, many made from vegetables seen growing in the garden. Visitors are made very welcome at any time.
