View Full Details of Mile Oak Rest HomeStaff are absolutely wonderful, caring and attentive. It's a home-from-home feel, clean, welcoming and tidy. Lots of activities for the residents on a daily basis. Would be nice if residents that are able to have short trips out, hopefully, that will happen. Food is freshly prepared each day and rooms are cleaned.
Mum moved into Mile Oak Rest Home in 2018 and spent four and a half years there. She was happy, spoke very highly of all the staff and felt safe. Residents are able to spend time in the lounge, join in the activities, or just watch and listen if they prefer, but there is no pressure to take part. During the summer, the garden is a welcoming place to sit and chat in the fresh air. Staff and management took time to get to know the residents and treated them with respect at all times. Mum enjoyed a gentle, humorous banter with the staff and they were happy to indulge her sense of humour. During the Pandemic, when we were not permitted to visit our loved ones, I was kept informed of Mum's welfare at all times. It is due to the staff's dedication and hard work that Mum remained safe from Covid. Sadly, following admission to hospital and a change in Mum's health and care needs, she is unable to return to Mile Oak.
Our mother moved in Mile Oak in the middle of a Covid Lockdown, meaning we were unable to view Mile Oak before Mum moved in and she had to isolate for 2 weeks on admission. Our mum was post operative and had dementia, so in a frail state. Mile Oak ensured we were kept fully informed throughout and nothing was too much trouble. She had a large comfortable room, which we were able to personalise with her own furniture and pictures etc. The staff were always kind and spoke to residents and visitors with great respect. Our mother sadly passed away after just 7 months in Mile Oak, they cared for Mum right up to her passing. Mum herself always spoke very highly of all the staff at Mile Oak, whether it was the carers, handyman, cook etc and always said the food was good. Despite it being a difficult time of change for her, she was always content. It gave us great peace of mind, that we knew she was being well cared for. Thank you to all at Mile Oak, you are doing an amazing job.
In September 2019 at the age of 89 my aunt became a resident at Mile Oak Rest Home as she could no longer look after herself. Her eyesight was failing, and she needed 24-hour care. Mile Oak fitted her needs and more. Under the leadership of the manager, the staff, are most caring, considerate, understanding, and reassuring, nothing is too much trouble, even meals are tailored to the resident's needs. Residents are treated to a full programme of entertainment, such as singalongs, flower arranging, bingo, board games, quizzes, and cards to name a few. Unfortunately, this August my aunt became ill, and was taken to hospital, where she sadly passed away, aged 91 years. Mile Oak is a delightful and very friendly Care Home where, my aunt was very happy, and very well looked after. Communication is excellent. I had regular update from the manager and her deputy which was very reassuring, and helpful. Thank you to all the staff at Mile Oak from the bottom of my heart.
Our Mum was in care for three years at this home. Wonderful home, fantastic staff and always treated with respect and dignity. She was very happy in the home; she wanted to spend her last years with the family. Will always be thankful for the wonderful care she received at "Mile Oak" 10/10.
My Mother spent 2 1/2 years at Mile Oak as her health and her abilities deteriorated when my Father died. Mile Oak took her in, cared and looked after her in every way possible way until she passed away, to a standard second to none. The Team here were always on hand to tend to everyone’s needs, always happy, polite and motivated. The home has a really personal and friendly feel to it, it’s a lovely character house rather than a modern purpose-built “facility for the old” which for my mother's sake was a perfect fit. I can’t praise the staff enough for looking after my mother so well, highly recommended.
Mile Oak was a fabulous place for Dad to spend his last 2-years. The level of care provided was exemplary and attended to all his needs and with a high level of professionalism, compassion and humour. Dad was reluctant to go into care, he was fiercely independent, but after reading that Mile Oak was his best options, he bought into what was being offered and was very fond of all the staff. In all ways, it met our expectations and Dad's needs. I would whole-heartedly recommend Mile Oak.
My friend settled well into the caring and friendly atmosphere of Mile Oak. He was able to enjoy the weekly activities provided, as well as time spent in the garden with other residents. The management team and carers showed professionalism, understanding of his needs and were always there to support him and myself, as a visitor. Mile Oak was always very clean and tidy, well maintained, and provided excellent food. As my friend became more frail and needed more specialised care, staff were always patient and receptive to his personal and medical needs. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and I am so grateful that he was happy at Mile Oak and able to remain there until his death in October 2020. During the circumstances of Covid-19, I received a weekly newsletter, the opportunity of safe visiting when possible, and online visits were also made available. Mile Oak provides the attributes to make it a “home from home” for all who live there, and I would highly recommend it.
My time at Mile Oak was so comfortable and homely. I cannot praise it enough, the staff could not be more caring, dedicated people. I was born one hundred years ago, and the manageress and staff gave me a lovely party to celebrate with both daughters invited, who thoroughly enjoyed it. Before the shutdown, due to covid, we had entertainment, trips to the cinema, the staff did everything they could possibly do, to make a real home for everyone! I pray things be normal, all will be well, Bless Mile Oak.
My aunt died at Mile Oak on 24th July 2020. The manager and her deputy treated my aunt with the utmost care, consideration, respect and love. My aunt was 100 years and 8 months when she died and had lived at Mile Oak for 3 and a half years. Her slow, physical deterioration over this period was accommodated. She was admitted to hospital on the 4th July with heart failure but was able to return to Mile Oak for her last days. Mile Oak has a homely atmosphere, it is always clean and tidy. Good food and a wonderful atmosphere.
When my great uncle could no longer care for himself, he was lucky enough to find residence at Mile Oak. The management and carers were all so helpful and compassionate to my uncle's needs and were great in their correspondence with me. I would highly recommend Mile Oak based on our experience with them.
My mother spent 9 months here. Initially, she took advantage of the activities available and enjoyed the comforts of her garden view room. Her individual needs were always met and as they increased so did the attention she received. In her room, she was visited regularly and her dietary preferences met. She was charmed, humoured and engaged. We always felt that special attention was paid to how she liked to be dressed and made up. We will be forever grateful for the patience and understanding, welcome and love she received from all the staff. As visitors, we were always welcomed, offered refreshments and kept informed about concerns and changes in circumstances.
Unfortunately mum was only with the care home for three months before passing away due to an unexpected illness. We wish that she had agreed to move there a lot sooner than she did, as the care that she received at the home was exemplary. She did have a major eating difficulty but with the care from the staff, all who treated her with dignity, she was even able to boast that she was putting on weight. We thoroughly recommend this home for the care and affection that mum was given.
I find the home caring, nurturing and clean. When I visit my friend she is well cared for and her room is clean. The meals look appetising and nutritious. Every resident seems known to the staff. Staff are chatty, helpful and caring. I like it so much that I would be happy to live there.
