View Full Details of Trafalgar Care HomeGenerally staff very friendly and helpful. Food seems excellent. Rooms very small and residents lift very old and small. I think the care provided is sufficient for my sisters needs. It would be a lot nicer when you arrive at the home if the whole front of building was modernised, looks awful.
We would like to take on this opportunity to thank all the staff at Trafalgar for the very high level of care our mother is receiving. She is probably the happiest and healthiest she has been for a very long time thanks to the compassionate work from all the staff. We are so pleased we selected a care home that is a happy and comfortable place for Mum to live in, it feels like home to Mum. The staff are always welcoming and understand our Mum's complex needs. They are a credit to their organisation and we would like to formally thank them for their dedicated care provision. Their service delivery is very much appreciated and valued by our family.
Mum is well looked after, clean, well fed and happy to be there. All staff are friendly and helpful. Mum joins in with any arranged activities, despite her frailty and increasing dementia.
I’m generally happy with the care my mum receives at Trafalgar Care Home now. I know since Covid, it’s harder for the home to get people to come in and sing, dance, entertain and make stuff or talk to the residents but I’m sure in time this will happen again! The staff are all attentive to Mum's needs and I get phone calls to let me know how Mum is if she’s not been great. I phone quite regularly and all staff are always happy to talk about Mum as I don’t get the time to visit every day. The home is set in a beautiful location in Weymouth and the gardens are beautiful. I’d like to see more online presence such as Facebook updates on what the residents have been up to and photos of them, if allowed! I can then share them with other family members and friends of hers. Visiting Mum is difficult at times but the carers here are always happy to help! The management team are always very informative and are happy to chat any time. I’d like to thank all the staff that care for my mum!
My mum has been in Trafalgar since 2015 with Alzheimer's. The manager and the team have looked after my mum extremely well. Mum's health has sadly deteriorated over the last few years, I always get a call if something is wrong with Mum. Communication from the home to me is good, and I'm called in straight away if something is wrong with Mum. Throughout lockdown and Covid, the manager has always put the residents and her team first to keep them safe. They have my mum's best interest at heart, and I'm glad my late dad and I choose Trafalgar for Mum.
My nanny has been a resident of Trafalgar Care Home in Weymouth for approximately 2 years now. She struggled at first to accept she wasn't at home anymore and it was a huge change for her. When I first visited her I was struck with how warm and friendly the staff are. Nan is well looked after and staff have always been accommodating when I've visited her. She has a range of activities each week and has her nails and hair done which is lovely for her. Thank you for looking after my nan so well. Improvements: Residents don't seem to get opportunities to leave the home - would day trips be plausible? Are there charities which provide this? Could there be a grant or fundraiser to get money to facilitate this? I have not been asked to sign into the visitor's book each time I have visited Nan - this is a potential safeguarding and fire safety risk. The home is a beautiful old building with extensive gardens but the decor is very dated, tired and needs freshening up with some pride.
The home has a very friendly atmosphere and my mum has settled in very quickly. It has a good policy for visiting relatives especially during the pandemic. The carers are all very caring and dedicated to looking after the residents.
The greatest respect is awarded to residents and Mum is receiving adequate care and attention as befits a person affected with Alzheimer's and dementia. I have no hesitation in recommending your services to others at this time.
The condition of the house is very poor. The hand sanitiser by the front door is filthy and has been empty for at least three weeks. Quite often the smell of urine is very strong, and at one visit there was a lot of poo all over a bathroom floor which was disgusting. The resident was often in dirty clothes and unshaved and is having a shower only once a week. The resident had several falls out of bed, one quite serious where they should have been taken to hospital for their head to be checked. Overall, very poor conditions for all residents.
The management and all other staff are considerate, kind and professional. They communicate well and thoroughly to family and friends and they always put the resident's needs first. I would highly recommend this home, as I believe it is the best home my Mum could have, if she can't be at home.
This is a delightful home that has the welfare of my sister first and foremost in all that they do. The staff are all lovely. They engage with my sister and treat her with compassion and respect. The management lead by example and ensure that the home runs smoothly at all times. I couldn’t wish for a better environment for my sister.
