Mum attended Southmead for daycare for many months. She loved the days she attended and looked forward to the activities and being in the company of everyone. The lovely staff looked after her so well. She felt happy and safe while there and I felt confident that she was being taken care of and I had no need to worry about her during those days. I have no hesitation in recommending Southmead.
My mum passed away at Southmead having been a resident for the past 15 months. The care she received over that time was exemplary, particularly during her last few days. The staff, many of which have been employed for some time were genuinely caring and friendly to Mum and to all her visitors. The home is very well looked after and always clean. The food is very good and all tastes are catered for. Excellent activities are arranged for every weekday afternoon and some entertainers visit in the mornings for a good sing-song. Mum went on a couple of trips during her time at Southmead and enjoyed the company of other residents and the staff. My biggest recommendation is that we are now waiting for a room there for my mother-in-law.
My mum has been a resident at Southmead for 18 months. During that time her physical and mental health has been a priority for the staff and management. She is reassured and very kindly cared for by the exceptionally attentive staff. The property is homely, all members of the team are as equally invested in the resident's welfare. I would highly recommend.
My mother comes here one day a week and has stayed for respite over the last 12 months. The staff are genuinely caring, the home is very clean, nice decor but really is a home away from home. The staff cannot do enough to make all welcome. So much so that my mother-in-law has now also come as a permanent resident since June. They provide a warm, caring environment which is uniquely homey. They give that personal touch to all.
My grandfather stayed at Southmead. The staff couldn't do enough for him. I was always welcome to visit, and the staff were friendly. Most importantly for me, the staff were kind and approachable. They listened to him and his needs. When I had to work, they would send me WhatsApp videos and photos. I could see he was happy and felt safe. Sadly he passed away last year, but in his final weeks and days, the care and support he received, as well as myself, was amazing. They looked after him as if he was one of their own family members. I still think of the staff and the care they showed him and myself. They are fantastic, and I can't praise them enough.
My mother goes to Southmead for daycare and loves her days out there. She looks forward to going every time. It has made a great difference to her well-being and care. I recommend Southmead without any reservation at all.
My partner has been in short term, and several times on a day's respite. Everything about the home is first-class. I have no concerns about my partner being there. All staff are very helpful and caring.
My mum settled into Southmead in August 2020. Since then, new owners took over in July 2021. After a little bit of bedding in, Mum is happy with all the building work and improvement activities going on. Slowly, the changes are evident in my regular visits, and so far, it all looks like the changes will be wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the improvements unfold.
My mum recently passed away, and the care staff were amazing! I was allowed to stay all night. I can honestly say the care staff are like our family; they couldn't do more to help us.
I have nothing but praise for this small family run residential home. My mum spent her last four and a half years here, being extremely well cared for. The accommodation was clean and inviting at a very high standard. The staff were always very attentive and caring, and it felt very safe and secure at all times. There was open visiting, and I always received a warm welcome and update on Mum. The food was excellent and freshly cooked. A good rapport was maintained with the local GP practice. There was a happy atmosphere in the main lounge area where Mum liked to mix with the other residents, and there was a full programme of entertainment and activities. The accommodation has a beautiful south facing garden where we used to go and sit out in the nice weather. All in all, I was delighted to have found Southmead for my mum, and I would have no reservations recommending this accommodation to anyone. I can’t sing their praises highly enough.
My aunt is a long term resident of this home. Throughout her time there, she has been very well looked after. She has always been very happy there and gets on extremely well with the staff and management, and I and my family have always found them easy to deal with, knowledgeable and dedicated to the care of their residents. There is a welcoming and homely feeling to the place. I know from correspondence during the COVID pandemic that the home has worked very hard to keep the residents safe and the virus out (successfully as far as I am aware).
Mum was a resident in Southmead for eight years before passing away in January 2021 at the age of 100. It is a lovely care home with a beautiful garden. The management and staff are always attentive, caring and compassionate. We were kept informed of any changes in Mum's health, and our visits were a pleasure as nothing was too much trouble. It was reassuring to know that Mum was being cared for in such a friendly and homely environment. I would highly recommend Southmead to anyone looking for a care home.
My first impression of the home was warm and inviting. Approx a couple of years later, my father needed extra care as he could no longer live on his own. Southmead was my first thought and choice. He felt at home very quickly, and all the staff made him feel very welcome. The staff gelled with Dads sense of humour, which he loved. He enjoyed the food too as Dad always had a good appetite! He felt safe at Southmead and being a peaceful man, often commented on how quiet it was there at night. During the day, he loved the regular entertainment and activities. Overall, I always felt he was extremely well looked after. I never had any worries during his lengthy stay there until he peacefully departed in 2020 of natural causes. Communication from the staff was excellent. Thank you all.
