View Full Details of The SteppesMy mother has been in The Steppes for just over a year and is very happy there. All the staff are really lovely and caring.
Mum is very happy and content. All the staff are lovely and help Mum with her needs. They have a good relationship with the local doctor's surgery who are always ready to help.
All the staff are so lovely and kind. Mum is very happy where she is. She is happy with all the staff and the the staff all love her. Mum is always smiling. The Steppes care home is lovely.
Have been very happy with Mum's care, just a bit concerned about Mum's room sometimes ie cleanliness. The staff are very kind and helpful though.
I am absolutely appalled at the care provided to my mother at this establishment. On one visit her call button had been placed out of her reach and today the remote to her TV, her only company, was way over the other side of the room. There were thick layers of dust and the carpet is stained because as we are told there are insufficient staff to support her to eat her meals, meaning most of it ends up on the floor. She asked to be assisted onto the commode and because I had challenged the member of staff over the state of the room she initially said she was leaving the room because she wasn't going to be spoken to like that, this was a conversation voicing my concerns. I was not abusive, rude and I did not swear. She stated she would call for assistance because she wasn't going to do it on her own and left the room. Two other members of staff attended and she never returned. My dealings with the manager has resulted in her breaching GDPR.
This is a lovely care home with a family feel. All staff are friendly, approachable and most importantly caring. The managers are friendly and professional with good communication skills keeping us up to date with any concerns, issues etc with my uncle as soon as they happen. My mother is in a larger, shinier home which falls far below The Steppes in terms of the attitude of the staff and the atmosphere of the home.
My mum has settled in very well and enjoys living here. The staff are all very caring, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
She is extremely happy in this home and has lots of activities to take part in. A great family-run, friendly care home.
My father was reluctant to enter permanent care but has settled extremely well. I feel this is largely due to the excellent care he has received. He always has good opinions of the staff and has been treated in a respectful, caring and person-centred way by all concerned. The staff seem to go above and beyond to make the residents feel valued. I feel confident that my father is being cared for in a warm, friendly and professional way.
My mum has been a resident for 1 year now and has settled in fairly well. I am pleasantly surprised she has been engaging and encouraged to participate in activities in the home. The staff seem genuinely caring and like everyone to be as happy and healthy as possible. There will always be the little extra things I could hope for, like a little more attention to personal cleanliness and encouragement/assistance mornings and evenings but I appreciate time is restricted with staff and all other resident's requirements too. Overall I am happy she is being cared for well and safe in The Steppes.
The Steppes Care Home is such a caring and warm home. My husband has dementia and they help him so much day to day. We cannot thank and praise them all enough.
My mum has been resident at The Steppes for just over a year and she is very well looked after and cared for in a warm, friendly environment that feels like a home from home rather than some clinical institution. And being in the centre of Nailsworth is a plus so there is plenty of hustle and bustle on the doorstep. When she first moved in there was a problem with the TV ... so they got her a new one... she feels the cold... they got her an extra heater ... the shower wasn't working properly... so they installed a new one. A favourite item of clothing goes missing in the wash? They will turn the whole place over to find it! The manager and her team are kind and very efficient, communications are excellent, there is a good range of activities and I can drop in any time. They work very hard and are doing a great job.
The Steppes has been wonderful at looking after my 94-year-old mother. Led by the manager, the care home staff are competent and kind and the staff-to-resident ratio is high enough to allow sufficient time for staff to engage frequently throughout the day and ensure meals and hot drinks are provided on time. The staff organises and vigorously promotes regular trips and activities and uses just the right amount of encouragement to get people out and about. I have no hesitation in recommending The Steppes as a friendly and capable care home.
We visited several care homes in the area, before making the right choice in moving Mum to The Steppes. Mum is well cared for by the staff. She has her favourites and I am very thankful for their patience and kindness towards her.
My mother has been at The Steppes for 3 years now and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else! The love, care and attention she gets is excellent. The Manager keeps me updated on mum with pictures and calls me regarding her regular doctor appointments. The food is good and pretty much anything she wants they get for her. I will be forever grateful to them for the excellent level of care mum receives.
My mother has lived in the Nailsworth and Horsley area all her life. With her health deteriorating after my father died and the first signs of dementia beginning to show, it became clear that despite adaptations such as a stairlift, she could no longer manage by herself in the house which had been our family home since it was built in 1962. The Steppes really was the perfect choice as it keeps her in the town she knows and can be visited by friends. As her mobility became progressively worse, leaving her needing a wheelchair, the home could not have been more helpful, acquiring a hoist to help her in and out of bed. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home and the care and attention she's received are absolutely superb. I could not be happier knowing that she is in such good, caring, hands.
My dad is settled at The Steppes - this is no easy feat as he was vehemently opposed to 'go in somewhere'. We hugely appreciate the efforts of particular care staff, and the entertainment coordinator, to engage him and keep him motivated. There have been a couple of instances where I have visited my dad, and found him in dirty clothes, still in pyjamas at 11 am, not wearing his socks and complaining of cold feet etc. I know this is sometimes because he has declined assistance with dressing, but this is a feature of his dementia and I would say that Dad is responsive to a particular approach, and responds well to more experienced care staff. There are one or two carers who appear disinterested/ quick to say that Dad has 'refused' care - it would be great to feel that they are invested in overcoming this issue. Otherwise, we are generally happy with the care, and compassion provided at the Steppes.
My mother has been living at The Steppes for six years. She's now ninety and has had dementia for about ten years. She's very well looked after by the staff, she's safe and her physical needs are all met. Unexpectedly, her state of mind has improved while she's been living there. She enjoys the company of other residents and takes part in the various outings and activities. With her dementia, she's not always aware of her situation but she's commented to me on the kindness of the staff. I've seen this myself on my regular visits. I'm very happy we found The Steppes for her.
My mum has been a resident of The Steppes Care Home for a number of years. When her previous sheltered accommodation closed she chose The Steppes after visiting and being impressed with the welcome and atmosphere in the home. We have never regretted her choice. She is happy, comfortable and feels safe there. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful with personal attention for all of the residents. Mum enjoys life in The Steppes and it really is a home in the best of senses. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm and friendly environment with a true family feeling and individual attention.
This home is a warm, welcoming and caring place. The staff are exceptionally kind, patient, friendly and cheerful. The manager is to be congratulated on the lovely atmosphere here and a lot of the carers have been in post for a considerable time which speaks volumes, they are happy in their work.
