View Full Details of Avalon Residential HomeI took my mum and daughter with me to view Avalon Residential Home as there were vacancies. As soon as we entered my mum felt at home. The manager was very helpful and pleasant which made my mum relaxed. The staff are very friendly and we were shown the rooms available which were both excellent. Everything was spotless and Mum chose the room that she liked and she moved in on 03/10/24 and she loves it there. I couldn't wish for a better care home.
My mother had unfortunately suffered a short period of being unresponsive outside of your normal day hours of 9-5. The staff not only picked up on this incident but immediately put in place their procedure. I myself was contacted and during my attendance it was agreed that my mother would remain in the home so as to minimise any stress. The care home were happy for my mother to remain in the home. This incident was further followed up by the home the following day and also updated me upon the situation.
Making the decision to put a parent into a residential home is not easy. Everyone at Avalon made this a smooth transition. Mum has been treated with dignity and respect at all times. They have encouraged her to get involved in activities and she has far more stimulus than when she was alone at home. All staff are friendly and interact with the residents. We know Mum is now in a safe environment and well-cared for.
My husband went to Avalon for emergency respite care. I was so impressed by the way the staff looked after him that when he needed permanent care I asked if he could stay there. The staff are unfailingly kind to him and also to me.
The manager and staff are very welcoming, kind and extremely caring. If there are any concerns the manager is always on hand to rectify and deal with them quickly and professionally. We have noticed the update of facilities inside and outside of the care home gradually over the months, enhancing the property. The activities coordinator organises top-quality activities, outings in the summer and entertainment.
There are weekly activities that Mum can join in with even though she has dementia and cannot get out of her chair. The staff are all great at motivating Mum to join in. The care home arranged for a carer to travel with Mum to my daughter's wedding which we thought might not happen. The care staff are very welcoming and always happy for a chat.
My mother seems well cared for by the staff even though she complains as she doesn't like being in care but we/she didn't have an option as she couldn't look after herself. I can only give star ratings from what I see. Mother does not leave the room so no activities.
I am very happy with the standard of care my mother receives at Avalon. The staff are always happy, helpful and attentive. The standard of cleanliness is high. The entertainment offered is varied although my mother chooses not to indulge as she prefers her own company.
Mum is always treated well and with dignity. I feel the staff do as much as is possible with people whose judgement is impaired and often want to do more than they are able to. Overall I think they do a great job under difficult circumstances.
There were a couple of times that the internal communications didn’t seem to go across properly between your staff, so a confusing message was passed onto us. Especially between the day and night shift staff.
As I visit at least 4 times a week, I am always made welcome and the staff are polite.
Avalon has been caring for my mum since February 2022. During this time, her condition has worsened, and the care team have worked around this to ensure she is getting the best support.
My Mum was a resident at Avalon for nearly a year until passing in September 2021. From the outset, it was very clear to us that Mum was in very safe hands. She was well looked after and cared for and although her health was deteriorating with the illness, she even got involved in the many activities at the Home, making some good friends along the way. I would strongly recommend the Home. The manager and the staff treat people with respect and dignity, encourage them to get involved in life at the Home (but only if they want to), and are very accommodating with visitors - even through the pandemic where we had window visits for many months before being (legally) able to visit indoors. It is very clear that the manager and the team genuinely care for their residents.
My mum initially went to Avalon for respite after a stay in hospital and I am so thankful that she did. It soon became clear that my mum would need constant care and she became a permanent resident. The decision was made so much easier by her being there as it was very clear that we could not have found anywhere more caring. The home is very clean and the food is homemade. All of the staff are amazing I can’t thank them enough for what they do for all of the residents, nothing is too much trouble. I say staff but they are so much more than that. There are plenty of activities, even in this time of Covid. A very happy home and I don’t think I could ask for any more for my mum.
I am very happy that my aunt is in this home after seeing several other homes. The staff are polite and caring and always ready to answer any questions. Very well run.
My sister originally entered Avalon Residential Home as a respite care resident, but is now permanent. The care home explained the procedure very well and allowed the appropriate people from the social services to meet me in the home in my sister's presence. The communication from the care home management has always been excellent, as has the care provided. I have always had confidence that she is being well looked after.
Excellent caring service. My mother is stable and as happy as possible. I don’t think she could be in a better place. The manager’s handling of the coronavirus threat has been exemplary. My thanks to him and his staff.
My mother has been a resident of Avalon for eighteen months having been diagnosed with dementia. Initially, we were concerned about the level of care she would receive but we could not have imagined the exceptional kindness and professionalism all the staff have shown her. The home organises activities and events for the residents to help them keep interested and entertained. The food is excellent and is all prepared freshly in Avalon's kitchens. My mother is relaxed and well cared for and we cannot speak too highly of Avalon.
My Grandmother has been a resident of the home for a while now, and I cannot praise the staff there who look after her and the other residents more highly. They most definitely have your loved one's happiness and well-being at the heart of this home. Avalon are always looking for new ways to engage with the residents, whether it's arranging an afternoon of musical entertainment for a good old sing-song, or even an afternoon of arts and crafts, or just a lovely garden tea party (when the weather is good). These are the things, that I, as a loved one are pleased that take place for my Grandmother to enjoy. Avalon, bring to the home those home comforts for their residents. When I go to visit my Grandmother, I am always greeted with a warm welcome. It is clear to see the commitment from the staff and the dignity they treat the residents with is second to none. I am very pleased Grandma is a resident of Avalon.
The kindness and dedication of the staff has really shown through during the COVID-19 crisis. Regular emails keep relatives up to date. The staff have worked very hard to keep the residents happy and healthy. My family and I are extremely grateful for their ongoing support through this and for the support they continue to show to my family through a difficult personal year.
