View Full Details of Cavendish Care HomeStaff are kind and caring, my dad enjoyed being here. They all made him feel at home and they all became a part of his family. Clean and nice homely environment. Good management, kept you up to date with good communication.
Very friendly staff, always very cheerful.
My husband spent the last five months of his life in Cavendish Care Home. He was treated with the utmost respect and affection. The quality of care started with management and the staff, of which there were always many on duty, are the most caring and loving group we could have wished for. They all made his last days as happy and comfortable as was possible.
In August last year, Mum had her last fall at her sheltered/independent apartment. Seeing her at lunchtime, I returned four hours later and found her on the floor. She was admitted to hospital, and after insistence by my wife, brother and I was not allowed back home for safety reasons, but in October was admitted to Cavendish Care Home on the Stroud Road in Gloucester. It was not a home we chose and was the third one that social services attempted to find a place for Mum. God was looking after her then because by luck she ended up and spent the last nine months of her life in a caring and, I would say, loving environment. So on Thursday 29th July after a brief but strong chest infection Mum died and luckily she wasn't alone as my brother was with her.
Our Mother was admitted for respite care in September 2020. We live 200 miles away so it was extremely important to us that we knew she was being cared for in a loving and caring environment. We feel blessed that the right place was available. We have managed to do several window visits a couple of video calls and also face-to-face contact. We cannot praise the staff highly enough. She always looks well cared for and has never showed any signs of distress even though I am sure like so many elderly people with Dementia she must wonder where on earth we have disappeared to. The staff are never too busy to answer queries and seem to have great knowledge of Dementia and all their residents individual needs. Thank you all so much for all the love and respect you give to our loved ones.
Caring, friendly staff and management; easily contactable.
The care that my father has received during the last two years has been outstanding. The manager instils a very high standard of care and expectations across the staff, and the friendliness and attention to details for each resident are very reassuring. I would highly recommend this home to anyone for their loved one to stay.
No real problems - very good. Apart from windows should be open and more ventilation coming in.
My mum has recently become a permanent resident at Cavendish Care Home. The staff and manager have been really supportive and caring. I have been able to maintain window visits, and each time my mum seems happy and well cared for. (Unable to comment on rooms/food etc, as unable to visit inside).
Cavendish Care Home has an extremely caring team of people, well-led by their manager. Throughout this pandemic year, I have been advised on Government policies concerning care homes when each step was taken by the Cavendish team. Any illness, fall or hospital visits concerning my mother, are immediately reported to me, closely followed by the remedy or results.
Staff are kind, clean, friendly care.
My sister and I have been very pleased with the excellent care our brother has received for the past two years.
It is obvious that the residents are happy and well cared for. The staff interact with them constantly with humour and kindness. My friend has settled in well and is always content and peaceful in herself. There is always a welcome from the staff and good communication. The aura of the home is a happy one overall.
I arrived at Cavendish Care Home without warning and was warmly received by friendly staff who professionally "signed me in" and subsequently escorted me to the resident, who I found to be well cared for - neatly and appropriately dressed and groomed. Other residents in the lounge appeared well looked after. Soon after I arrived a "fitness instructor" arrived and had a workout with those who wanted to participate while we just enjoyed the music and movement. The home was warm but not stuffy and had a pleasant smell. The garden was well maintained and flower beds very colourful. The home has undergone a major renovation and built a conservatory which houses the indoor beach - real sand, movie/projector of the sea with waves, sound and smell! I certainly felt relaxed after a few minutes "on the beach"! The resident speaks highly of the home and care she receives. The manager spent time with the residents and had a chat with me. Very impressed with the level of care given.
The care home is well run, with highly a competent manager who clearly cares, with kindness and respect. The care team are friendly, always welcoming and I was always made to feel welcome, they treated my father with great care and kindness in a homely environment.
The management of the home is of the highest quality. The manager and senior support staff do much more than their job to ensure the residents and those who are their relatives are well informed and kept at ease. What I would have heard from other sources, this care home is vastly superior in nearly all respects. The building is old and takes a lot of cleaning and maintenance but this is carried out to a very satisfactory level. I feel completely confident that the residents, some of whom must be very difficult are treated with dignity and as far as I can see, want for nothing. The senior staff should get a special mention showing both enthusiasm and dedication, my experience has been satisfactory at all levels.
May I say I think this care home is superb. I would like to say the manager is most helpful and always there to address anything you need to say. The senior care assistant I can't fault but there again all the staff there are very caring they treat the residents with the utmost dignity and respect and they tend to their every need whilst maintaining the friendliness and having fun with them. I cannot fault this home very clean all wood flooring and everything is where it should be I would recommend this home to anyone.
The resident feels this home. He is treated as a person, not a patient or responsibility. I don't worry about his treatment. These comments are also shared by my daughter. Staff and management are always ready and willing to listen and try to help with compassion and dare I say, love. I cannot praise these people enough.
Very well run. Excellent staff. Superb registered manager.
My mum has been at Cavendish for the last five years. Since the present manager has been there the dementia care has improved immensely. The home is very dementia friendly i.e memory lane, sensory room, photographs, activities. I am extremely impressed with the activities coordinator she goes above and beyond her duties as does the manager. The care staff work extremely hard and are very caring. The home comes over as friendly and very homely.
