Cleaner is very great with what she does plus they change the beds every other day! They ave supported me with my finances which I'm grateful for! They have plenty of activities for the residents which is organised by lady who we are lucky to have!
Helpful and friendly staff. New ownership who is keen to listen and take on board points of view and act on them. Lovely garden for residents and visitors to use. Good sized and bright room well decorated.
Dalkeith Residential Care Home - is a care home 'gem' with caring and professional staff. Under great new management now, I'm sure it will become even better than ever! Mum and I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for all your dedication, understanding and hard work.
So, I put my mother with Alzheimer’s in this care home, last September! She is so well looked after, always clean, and happy! The cook is amazing! Always making the most delicious cakes! The staff are friendly, and do a brilliant job! I have no issues with this care home at all. I know my mum is being well cared for! I know it has just been taken over, and he is a very nice man!
Very pleased with the care provided. All staff extremely kind and treat the residents with respect. Food always excellent with plenty of it. Always feel that the staff are approachable if there's a problem.
I have been dealing with Dalkeith since about September 2023. On every occasion the staff have been helpful and informative and always happy to keep me informed. My mum has always been a very outgoing busy person and they seem to understand this with activities and trips out. From the first time I spoke to the staff the main thing that came across is that because of the low number of residents, the residents aren't just a number. The staff genuinely care for the people under their care. It's the personal touch that makes a difference. I would fully recommend Dalkeith to anyone looking for care/support with their family member.
I can not fault the care and time that the staff give my Mother. She enjoys the activities they offer and the company of the other residents and staff. She generally seems very happy living at the home.
Professional and polite, very respectful of mine and the residents' wishes. They are always helpful and reassuring. They have provided a safe and happy environment for my relative and are always quite to notify me of any developments or problems. Great service.
My sister was upset the last time she visited. I have been in between, and on this visit, she came with us, and we noticed a marked improvement in our cousin and her brightness and general chat, she had been out and about ie to the garden centre and made a lovely cushion. I spoke to the lady manager who could not have been more helpful and answered all my questions. Thank you and your staff for working in these very difficult times, it is not easy face-to-face so, thank you and the new owners.
A small home, but it's the right size for the amount of residents they have there, lovely back garden and parking at the front, Mum has been at Dalkeith for over 7 years until we sadly lost her in March this year. She has been well looked after by the staff who have mostly been there ever since Mum was first at the home which was good for consistency and understanding Mum's care and her needs. We will miss going to see Mum and the staff at Dalkeith as they have always gone the extra mile like inviting Dad to dinners on Sunday, also Christmas, birthdays and other holidays. A big thanks to all at Dalkeith.
My partner had a severe stroke 6 years ago and this was his first respite visit and time away from me since then. When my daughter and I visited Dalkeith prior to the start of respite, we were struck by how homely and comfortable the home was. All the staff were friendly, very reassuring and answered all questions fully. When I arrived with my partner, staff members came out to help me carry all his equipment and gear in. The room was ready for him and the furniture had been arranged as I'd suggested earlier, making the room easy for him to mobilise in. Throughout his stay, all new staff members introduced him/herself to my partner at the start of his or her shift. He was asked how he needed things to be done so that he felt safe and in control of the situation, using ways we had developed over the previous six years and maintaining his independence. The room was warm and comfortable, the way to the bathroom clear, free from hazards. The food was excellent, varied and plentiful.
Dalkeith has been my father’s home for over 20 years - he is now 99 and blind but still enjoys life. I have been delighted with the high standard of quality care he receives but, more than that, the kindness and compassion of the staff who are so thoughtful and patient. His long life and health are a result of the way he has been looked after at Dalkeith. This gives me reassurance as I live 350 miles away. I talk with my dad most days and visit with his grandchildren but his happiness and well-being are dependent on the wonderful staff at the home. Recently, I spoke in person and via email to the new owner/manager who was very friendly, professional and supportive. I manage my father’s affairs online as I have power of attorney but I had an issue which the new owner resolved immediately giving me peace of mind. I have nothing but praise for the dedicated staff and effective management of Dalkeith which have given my dad such a happy and fulfilled life for so many years.
My sister had resided at Dalkeith for four years. In February she developed breathing difficulties and was admitted to the hospital. The management and staff continued to support my sister (and myself) during that time and when it was clear that there was nothing more that could be done medically for my sister, the home went above and beyond to receive her back to spend her last days in her room with them. The care, dignity and support received from everyone at Dalkeith was unsurpassed. Their presence and support for my sister and my family in her final hours will never be forgotten.
My mother has been here just under four weeks, she suffers with dementia. She became too much for me to look after. But these fabulous people, staff have been nothing but kind and caring to Mum. She loves the place, really has settled in. So that speaks volumes to this care home.
We wanted to move Mum to Cheltenham so that we could visit more often. We rang around a number of homes and they didn't want to know. Dalkeith was the only one that phoned us back after we left a message. The owner invited us in to meet up and it was clear how passionate he is about the care industry. We were there for around an hour, talking about Mum's needs and every staff member greeted us like old friends. We knew immediately that this place was perfect for Mum. We moved her in early February 2023 and within a week, she was so much more outgoing. She particularly loved her key worker and they would spend time talking, laughing, singing and dancing. We were able to visit three times a week instead of once every other week when she was further away from us. The home threw a party for Mum's 80th birthday which she really enjoyed. I have no doubt that moving Mum to Dalkeith was the best thing we could have done for Mum and I'm so grateful that Dalkeith came into our lives.
I am very pleased with the standard of the home. No problems with any of the staff. They are all very helpful. Very kind people and thoughtful towards my husband.
My Mother became a resident following a protracted period in hospital. She had restricted mobility and was suffering from the onset of dementia. Dalkeith has a warm, friendly and caring environment. The staff were all highly capable and professional in caring for him. Unfortunately, my mother deteriorated and this period was when the total dedication to providing a compassionate, loving and comfortable level of care came to the fore. Mum loved the atmosphere created by the staff, struck up new friendships and enjoyed the activities provided by the care home.
My father-in-law required a room in a home quickly. We decided on Dalkeith Residential Care Home. My father-in-law and the family are extremely happy with all aspects of this home. The owner and staff have been so kind and friendly and the other residents seem relaxed, friendly and happy. It is so lovely seeing Dad settling in so well.
First class nursing home with caring nursery staff. A very nice and friendly home where I am happy for my mother to stay and I know she is safe.
Two members of staff have really gone out of their way to make my mum as comfortable and a "home from home". After a recent spell in hospital we were relieved that mum returned to Dalkeith and regained her well being to a faster degree than in any other environment. I believe it was down to the familiarity and expertise of all the wonderful staff and management. I would not hesitate in recommending Dalkeith as a residential home for those making sensitive and emotional decisions ref their family.
