In this day and age, it's a real pleasure for us to find Court House Retirement Home in Cheddar, our mother spent her last few years there in the opulence of this beautiful country house and grounds. I can only describe the home as a five-star hotel, every need is taken care of physically and mentally, with an afternoon quiz or entertainment there is always something interesting going on. The staff are caring and give a first-rate service to the residents, they are all well-trained and courteous. Thank you for caring and looking after our mother so well in her final years.
My 95-year-old mother required respite care following cataract surgery. This entailed regular eye drops for several weeks post the operation (which she would not have managed at home). She is fairly independent but suffers with arthritis and poor sight so finds it a struggle to adapt to new situations. Court House Retirement Home staff were very understanding of the situation and looked after her with a good degree of professionalism. She settled into a routine at Court House very well and then found it strange to return to her home! It was especially appreciated that staff went the extra mile to administer eye drops.
My mother moved into Court House Retirement Home, over two years ago having lived, locally, independently in her own flat. When I decided it was time for Mum to have some help and care for her well-being, a room was booked. Within two weeks, Court House completely redecorated and recarpeted her room. It looked so fresh and bright. Her belongings were put into her room, no objection at all to putting up pictures and using her own curtains. Her new room looked the same as the one she left, making the transition seamless. The help and guidance given, not only for Mum but for myself, was superb. She settled in straight away. It seems a long time ago since Mum moved into Court House. During this time, she has been happy and her care has been excellent. Not only have the staff given so much time and energy into her care, they have also supported me on the odd occasion when I've had a meltdown. During Covid, I felt confident that Mum was in safe hands. I wholeheartedly recommend Court House.
My mother-in-law is fortunate enough to be living at Court House Retirement Home, in one of the courtyard properties. She has a lovely home with a much-valued view of the gardens. From the very first moment I visited the home, I knew she would be well cared for. Staff are considerate, helpful and polite and always on hand with tea and biscuits! The owner undoubtedly goes above and beyond - he is always contactable and so supportive. I really cannot stress how important this has been for the family. I feel happy knowing that my mother-in-law has such kind people looking after her.
Court House Retirement Home is a home-from-home. The team are all very caring and kind and do everything they can for those in their care. A good programme of activities, in the comfy lounge and a wide choice of home-cooked meals served in the dining room or in their own room. The lovely garden is delightful too!
Moving my mother into Court House Retirement Home made a difficult decision and transition very easy! From the welcome we received on looking around, to the transition period and the move itself couldn't have been better and/or more straightforward. And like a proverbial duck to water, my mother has settled, thoroughly enjoyed what Court House provides and felt right "at home" quickly. This is not accidental - it reflects on the dedication, attitude and training of management and staff who run a properly homely residence for those who live there, with personal attention to detail and care for their needs. Nothing is too much trouble. We feel so lucky to have found an opening with perfect timing.
My father was a resident at Court House Retirement Home for a period of approximately three years. He received extremely good care and attention from the outset when he was still relatively mobile to the last period of his life when the carers at Court House did everything to meet his needs, notwithstanding the extreme challenges of the Covid lockdown. He enjoyed the house and dining room and the garden in particular. At Court House, they managed to create a feeling of home from home and were accommodating and flexible to changing needs and requirements. I can't thank them enough.
I stayed at the Court House Retirement Home for respite care for two and a half weeks. The staff made me very welcome and were kind and considerate and so very helpful when I was in a lot of pain and as I improved. I can't thank them enough. The house was always clean and tidy with a lovely lounge. My room had a lounge and bedroom with ensuite across in the Courtyard and the garden was very pleasant even in the winter months. The residents were really lovely to talk to and I enjoyed my stay with them all very much.
My mother has recently settled into Court House very happily. She has a lovely room opening onto a beautiful garden. She feels safe and well cared for. The Staff are friendly, caring and respectful. There are many activities taking place to give residents stimulation. My mother says she never feels lonely. There is a very varied menu from which residents can make their choices. The ethos is to help all residents feel this is their home and that all will be done to make them feel comfortable and their individual needs met. Visiting family and friends are always offered a cup of tea or coffee and a tray will be brought to the resident’s room, with biscuits. Court House is not a modern, purpose-built home, and as such has a relaxed family feel to it. I would thoroughly recommend Court House.
