View Full Details of Critchill CourtMy mother was placed into Critchell Court Care Home on 26th November. Within a few days, she experienced missed medications (serious omissions of heart medication), lack of socialisation, safety issues with dementia patients entering her room at 3am and frightening her, with a male resident sitting in her chair and female resident sitting on her bed. The care home ran out of critical medicines at least twice in a four week period. The care home corridors stink of urine and excrement at times.
This is not a place for elderly frail people - my mother does not have dementia, yet she was placed here on an emergency respite. The care was inadequate, communication between managers and care givers non existent. My mother often did not have her prescribed medications at correct times, twice they ran out of her medicine. She wasn't mobilized, major safeguarding issues with other residents stealing and getting into mum's room at 3am - and the whole place smells of urine as soon as you walk into the residents areas.
Choosing a carehome is a sad but significant moment and getting it right is important, after a few weeks I'm sure I did get it right. My wife is well cared for in a happy situation, the staff are all you would hope for and I'm grateful to them all. I visit every day and I'm also happy to be there.
I find all the staff friendly and helpful when I visit my mother. The residents all seem happy. The food looks nutritious and well prepared and all the facilities are well looked after. The gardens are well tended and the car parking is adequate.
My mother-in-law was a resident at Critchill Court Care Home for six weeks, sadly she died 21/08/2024. Five-star care! The care she was given was done with love and her dignity was never ever compromised. Without exceptions, the staff were amazing and looked after all the family members too. Whenever the staff spoke to any of the residents, they were always very respectful, kind, and a little humorous even when it was not apparent anybody else could hear them.
My parents have both entered Critchill Court together and have been made to feel so amazingly welcome and cared for. Thank you all. Mum and Dad's health is improving, they feel safe and secure. The attitude of the staff is great both to the residents but also to my sister and I and other family visitors at what is a difficult time for everyone. The change to Agincare ownership seems to be settling down; it must have been tough for the staff but they didn't let it affect their work. The food is good and getting better as the chefs have more freedom, drinks and snacks are always on offer from the trolley. There seem to be some good activities, and the garden is looking better with all-day access so residents to sit out safely. General healthcare is good, and access to nurses and doctors is excellent, including out-of-hours. I could say more, but let's just say we are very pleased with our experience so far and very happy mum and dad have moved into Critchill Court.
My Mother came down for respite care - The staff was very welcoming and everything else was excellent but my Mother is temporarily deaf and was frightened by and couldn't converse with the other residents (most with some kind of dementia), but my mother at 93 years old still is very with it and bright. The staff were so considerate and brilliant to Mum's predicament. She was taken to the hospital due to sickness of problematic hernia causing sickness and I was informed as so as paramedics were called and welcomed back warmly after her stay like a family member. I could see her and take her out for outings without a problem. Thank you.
Mum has been here for a year and she loved it here. She never wanted to go into a home but she has settled well and calls it her home now, staff are her family. We always get a lovely welcome from the staff when we visit. The home itself is a good size, but it does need decorating. It needs updating. The activities room should stay as the residents enjoy it when they use it. Mum has definitely improved in herself, she even walks now. Music and dancing are her favourite.
The staff at Critchill are wonderful, you always get a warm welcome, especially from two members of staff in particular. The food is excellent and care is very good, some hope with the activities lady will be good.
Due to an emergency, my wife was placed by our social worker into Critchill Court at around 5 pm for a week. After a couple of days, I was informed that my wife was found in another male's bed, both have symptoms of dementia, this was at 6 am. He was trying to remove or put on her pyjama bottoms, checks are done every hour, if a camera was fitted to cover the long hallway then this would not have happened. She had bruising to her arms and her wrists were tender. The police were informed but due to dementia, nothing was done.
Critchill Court staff are fantastic! They are able to cater for every need and go above and beyond. Thank you! You have made coming into a care home a surprisingly enjoyable experience!
The staff at Critchill Court are extremely helpful and caring. They made my husband very welcome, they also made me very welcome. It's bright warm and very homely. Within two days all staff knew his name, it was his birthday on the 19th of September, he was 83 years old. The home put on a wonderful spread of food and welcomed lots of family members and it made his day special. I can't thank them enough.
My grandmother has been welcomed extremely well and has settled in nicely. The staff are all very helpful, kind and helpful. I can't really fault the care and kindness of the staff, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the cleanliness of my grandmother's room. Her room is just not cleaned enough. Her dirty incontinence pads are left in the bin for far too long, leaving the room smelling. Please clean more. Bathroom floor left dirty for far too long.
My purpose was to give a massive credit to a carer, but no names can be given so my review is pointless, apart from the fact I believe Critchill Court and all staff are first-class. Thank you everyone!
I would like to thank the staff at Critchill Court for the treatment and comfort for my wife. The manager, office staff, nurses, carers, the cook and even the cleaners gave a friendly smile and I can't thank them enough.
My father has dementia and recently has come to Critchill Court for respite, from the moment my dad stayed on the first day, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, it was his birthday that week, and he had cake and balloons which he loved. Since this, he’s settled into his stay. We have had great communication with all staff and been offered drinks every time I have come to visit.
I just wanted to say thank you for looking after my mum for respite last week. She felt very safe and cared for and thought all of the staff were kind, thoughtful and good fun. Her visitors told me how lovely everyone was and my experience was of a very welcoming and friendly group who couldn’t do enough for my mum and were also very concerned to make me feel looked after too. Please thank everyone very much from both of us - it was a really positive experience and we will both be happy to repeat it in the future.
My mum has been a resident at Critchill Court Care Home for many years. The staff are very caring and approachable and happy to answer any queries. Mum says she feels safe there and likes the staff who have a lovely rapport with her. The activities offered are varied and run by a very kind, enthusiastic leader. Mum enjoys walking or sitting in the enclosed garden in summer. The dining area and shared spaces, e.g. activity room and lounges, are light, bright and inviting. I would recommend Critchill Court.
Not during easy times (Covid), this care home looked after my Mum wonderfully. All staff (and sadly due to external issues, there were many!) cared for and looked after a mother quickly degenerating with dementia. The place is clean, secure and friendly. All staff, without exception, cared. Three in particular. Thoroughly recommendable. (Just to make the review appear more genuine, and not all perfect! The gardens could be given slightly more attention!!)
Mother is really well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff.
