View Full Details of St George's Care HomeMum has been at St George's since August 2024. I could try hard but couldn't find fault with the care she receives. The carers are very caring, considerate, respectful and give the impression that nothing is too much trouble. Mum herself says they are lovely. The food is cooked on the premises and is very good. If medical issues arise they are picked up on and treated. The general atmosphere is one of friendliness and good cheer. Mum celebrated her 104th birthday last year. She received a birthday cake baked in St George's kitchen, a goody bag and lots of cards. Extra effort is given to celebrate special days on the calendar and decorate the home to match the occasion. Whenever we visit my husband and I find the staff all very friendly. The management is proactive and very positive and it is this attitude which is reflected throughout St George's.
Dad has been a resident of St George's since August 2024. He has become extremely frail over the last couple of months but the staff and management have looked after Dad and catered for all his needs fantastically. The home has a very friendly approach in everything they do and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. His sight has almost gone and his hearing isn't brilliant but as a family, we feel happy that he is safe, warm, fed and looked after at St George's, we are so glad we chose this care home. The only comment I would make is that the call button does sometimes take a while to answer, but then there are other residents to look after.
This year was my mum's first at St. George's. It could not have been better. The staff were so thoughtful, kind and supportive and entered into the Christmas celebrations wholeheartedly. They could not have done more to make it an inclusive and fun festive season. Mum was 99 just after Christmas and again, the staff were wonderful in making this a great celebration for her, including all her friends at St George's. Our family is delighted that Mum is so happy and very well cared for in this lovely home.
Overall we are very pleased with the home and standard of care. It is well managed and all the staff from carers to managers are very approachable and helpful. My mother occasionally feels that she has to wait a while for her call bell to be answered but we understand that carers have other residents to deal with. Overall we would highly recommend this care home to other potential residents.
My dad's been at St George's for 5 years now following a stroke which left him with mobility issues that made it impossible for us to care for him at home. We count ourselves as lucky to have found him a place at St George's. The care he receives is absolutely fantastic. The home is a lovely comfortable place, with excellent home-cooked food, and the cheerful and attentive staff who maintain a wonderful positive atmosphere. His medical care has also been first rate and we have always been able to discuss and address any concerns about his care with senior staff. Highly recommended.
My mother moved in early this year. The staff are welcoming and friendly and hard working. Mum is celiac, no gluten or wheat allowed, the staff have managed to cater for her special diet and the cook has been very accommodating. Mum joins in the daily activities and has made friends and settled in very quickly.
What can I say? All the staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Having the piece of mind that my dad is safe and well cared for is priceless.
Lovely care home and staff. Feels more like a B&B. Always very friendly and responsive. It's hard to choose a care home and I did a load of research. I'm confident I chose the perfect place. Lots of activities. Lovely food as well.
We would like to thank all the staff for the excellent care and attention our mother received whilst in your care. She was only with you for a few short months. Yet you managed to make her last few months as happy and as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend your home to anyone looking for a residential home for a relative.
My mum went into St George's Residential Home for Respite Care at the beginning of February. She visited it on a Saturday and moved in the next day. She found all the staff to be caring and attentive to her needs. Within about 48 hours she told me on the telephone (I'm her only child and have lived in France for over 40 years) that she intended to stay there until the end of her life because she was so happy. I visited the home for the first time on the Eve of her death and again on the day when she died suddenly, having spent the afternoon chatting with me. I can therefore say I saw how great the staff were at dealing with both my mum and me immediately after her death. Her final days were happy ones thanks to St George's.
The staff are all extremely attentive to my aunt's needs. She has been unwell this month and communication has been good. It’s hard as I don’t live nearby and am next of kin, but the manager makes a real effort to involve me and keep in touch. My only wish would be for the option of a shower/wet room rather than a bath, hence lower score for room.
I’ve recently moved my mum into St George’s Care Home, from my first contact over the phone with the manager, the service and care has been genuine and sincere. Mum is treated with the greatest of respect and care and everyone has gone above and beyond to make sure she feels settled and at home.
I have found the care home to be responsive and supportive considering the needs of my father. My father felt there were issues that needed resolving, but had not engaged with the staff/manager appropriately. I found the manager and owner very sympathetic to his needs and very reasonable in their responses. We were able to discuss solutions and I was able to support my dad with the relevant information and help him understand the situation. Effective solutions were found and the care home staff were really caring and supportive and it was clear to me they wanted the best for my father.
Although my mum was only in St George's for a short time, during that time she was very well looked after and the staff were very caring. It is well-managed and sets high standards of care. Her room was lovely and looked out onto the courtyard. Both my mum and I liked the fact that it was a small home and therefore had a family atmosphere with all the staff knowing all the residents. It was lovely to be able to take her to the park, which is only about a 10-minute walk away. I would highly recommend this home.
Cheerful, caring staff provide excellent levels of personalised care. Together, the staff provide an excellent, homely and safe environment for the residents. I'm made to feel welcome when I visit my father, and he is content, settled and feels at home here.
My mom has been a resident of St George's for two years - she enjoys living there and always comments on how grateful she is that 'we' found a lovely place for her to move into. St George's has a feel of a 'guest house' as opposed to a care home - whenever we visit Mom, it is obvious that all the staff give a high standard of care for all residents, and it is wonderful to see how happy the residents are. Recently Mom had a Stroke, but thanks to the quick action and care of the team at St George's, she was in the hospital to receive urgent care that has resulted in no ongoing effects, and we are truly grateful to St George's team for this intervention. It was also obvious during Mom's stay in the hospital that the St George's team were genuinely concerned for her recovery; again, this means a lot to the family. Mom is back at St George's now. Would recommend St George's Care Home to anyone who is in the position of a loved one needing care.
My mum has been at St George's since September 2022. Myself and my two sisters can't thank the home enough for how every member of staff looks after her. Although there have been a lot of staff changes over the past months, it hasn't affected the quality of care received. There are always plenty of activities going on. I have even enjoyed the sing-alongs myself when I have been visiting. St George's is a very friendly and homely care home, and I would definitely recommend it to anybody needing this kind of home.
An excellent 'family' type facility. Well-led by the registered provider, registered manager and her deputy. All staff deserve the highest praise for their caring attitude. As visitors, we were accorded the highest levels of care and compassion and never made to feel a nuisance or in the way.
Mum has been here for about three months. Very good care/clean/meals are good. Nothing negative about St George's.
My mother has been a resident of the home for over four years now. In that time, she has been well looked after, happy and cared for. The staff have shown her warmth and affection. Recently, though there have been a lot of changes in the home, hopefully, all the new staff and ideas will continue to make this a warm and friendly home. To ensure that the level of care and support is the best that it possibly can be.
