View Full Details of Glen Lyn Residential Care HomeThe Glen Lyn Care Home cared for my mother in the last weeks of her life. We found it an extremely caring and professionally run home. The staff, without exception, are outstanding - they genuinely care for their residents, and treat them with respect and dignity at all times. The atmosphere is not at all stuffy, and residents and staff have good fun together. Indeed, this was the thing that impressed us the most about the home: it always felt a happy and cheerful place. The Glen Lyn seems to cope with a range of abilities/disabilities and medical conditions. Residents benefit from the individual care that can only be provided in a small home such as this. Our parting quip to the staff at Glen Lyn was - 'book us a double room in 20 years time'. Quite seriously, this is not a place that I would have any misgivings about placing my loved one in, nor would I have any problem going there myself, if I needed this level of care.
Mother has been in Glen Lyn for a while now, and is thoroughly enjoying it. Sleeping better, eating well and has company. She is 100 years old but is still quite active, she sees family every week and has never complained about anything. Gets on well with all the staff and has a big grin on her face most of the time. Thank you for your care and compassion.
I have counted myself extremely lucky that my mother, who has advanced Alzheimers and Dementia, has been a resident of Glen Lyn since March 2023. At a time that was extremely upsetting for all of us, not least of all my mother, Glen Lyn has cared tremendously for my mother, and my family as well. Their communications with us, the lengths taken to understand my mother's needs as she is unable to communicate verbally, the attention taken to her specific medical requirements, the cleanliness, the staff, the facilities and the food (Mum has very specific food requirements with her advanced dementia), have been absolutely exceptional in all aspects. I could not recommend Glen Lyn any higher.
My mum is a daily visitor to the home, she is looked after brilliantly. The staff are all so friendly and very caring and have a wonderful sense of humour. All the people that stay there permanently also look very happy.
Very caring and attentive to the residents. More like a home environment, home-cooked food with choices. Activities and outings. Each person treated individually and cared for very well. The home is clean, tidy, nicely decorated and always smells fresh. I am so pleased that my friend is here and her needs are catered for really well, her personality is allowed to flourish.
My wife has now been a resident for nearly 18 months and her care has been excellent throughout this period. The manager and her team are approachable and understanding and keep me abreast of my wife's deterioration. Her room is kept clean and the TV or music player is usually turned on for her enjoyment. My ongoing thanks to the caring team.
My dad fell three times in a week so couldn’t live on his own anymore. Luckily Glen Lyn had a room and by the end of the week, Dad was living there and soon settled. The staff are very friendly and caring and the food is delicious. Different daily activities are organised and residents can join in if they want to. The day revolves around their individual needs and is very flexible. Family and friends are always made very welcome.
A very warm, welcoming environment. Staff take great care with the residents. My mother-in-law told me last week she was so happy. I like that the owners are hands-on. They always reply to any queries I have.
My 96-year-old father stayed at Glen Lyn for two weeks of respite care, having never stayed in a residential home before. It is a family-run home with very approachable and hands-on management. The staff, who said they felt part of a family, made sure his stay was a happy one. Residents' dignity, privacy and safety were respected and the atmosphere was always friendly and cheerful. Dad was treated as an individual at all times and his wishes were respected while being encouraged to maintain his independence. Fresh, home-cooked lunches were particularly enjoyed and I would have no hesitation in booking him in again, perhaps longer term.
The home is so caring and looks after the residents as if they were their own. Can't praise them enough. It is like a home from home and the staff are so good with the residents and they look at the individual's needs.
Mum's room is very small but is clean and Mum has a toilet and basin. The staff seem friendly. Mum has poor hearing, doesn't speak good English (she's Spanish) and is 93 so not so agile. She struggles to get around but is encouraged to join others in the house. Her hearing aids don't seem to help her but have found the batteries are not always the best anyway. Not sure how to improve this.
My sister has now been in residence at Glen Lyn for nearly two years and is happy and very comfortable there. I visit as regularly as possible, considering that I live a long way away, and have always found the staff to be welcoming and helpful. Communication by phone is also very good.
My mum has been a resident since February. She always looks clean, tidy and well cared for. She enjoys the activities they put on for the residents. The staff are kind and caring. The home itself is always clean and comfortable.
Mum has been at the home for a number of years and is very happy and well cared for. Her health has deteriorated over the past few months so she is needing more support from the staff with her everyday needs. They all support her with great compassion and care and nothing is too much trouble. Her dietary needs have changed and they have made sure she is getting the correct nutritional needs while still making sure the food is tasty and appealing. The food is always first class and freshly prepared daily by the staff. The health and welfare of the residents are their top priorities. Communication within the home is excellent and we are always informed of any changes to Mum's health in a timely manner. The home is always clean and welcoming and the staff ensure the residents are kept stimulated with lots of different activities which they can choose to join in with if they wish to. I would highly recommend this care home as it is a very comfortable homely setting with excellent staff.
I moved Mum to Glen Lyn Residential Care Home from another care home after not feeling satisfied with the service she was receiving. Glen Lyn was recommended by a friend and the overall experience has left me under no doubt that I made the right decision in making the move. The staff are always very helpful and if I'm taking Mum out they always have her ready and on time. She enjoys a number of the organised activities. I cannot comment about the food as I've not visited during meal times mainly because it is no doubt a busy period for the staff. Overall, I'm glad I moved Mum to the Glen Lyn, the staff are great and I would recommend the home to any friends who end up in the same position, requiring care for elderly relatives.
Very nice home. 100% cleanliness. All staff are very kind to me. Good is 100% good. Variety of food. Staff will do anything for me. 100% making me happy and contented.
Mum was at Glen Lyn for the best part of four years. During this time Mum has been very well looked after. All the staff are brilliant and have treated Mum with respect and dignity. Glen Lyn has a very lovely feel about it, like a home from home. Mum has a great appetite and has enjoyed all the home-cooked food. The entertainment is very varied and kept Mum stimulated, especially the musical acts. Pre-Covid, they would have regular trips out which Mum thoroughly enjoyed too. Well done to all at Glen Lyn, keep doing what you are doing! I would highly recommend Glen Lyn.
I am comfortable, happy, well looked after and very friendly. Care staff are very good. I like the food. Clean place and lots of games and things to do. They look after my welfare.
I moved into the home when my live-in carer was no longer able to help me at home. The care that I have received has been excellent. The staff are very accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. My health is not good and they notice any deterioration and act very quickly to make me comfortable and let the doctor know. The food is out of this world, I love it.
My mother has been a resident here since August 2012 and had just come out of nursing care after a serious operation which left her needing stoma care. The owners and staff have been wonderful all this time and I have seen mother's well being and mental health vastly improve. Mother is a naturally bubbly person and she likes to have a laugh and banter with the staff. The food is good, home-cooked and plenty of variety. There are also some good activities provided. Great adherence to Gov guidelines during this Covid crisis.
