I can honestly say that Grovelands is outstanding. We have been visiting my relative here for the past 4 years and the staff have become like extended family. We have felt supported and aided in our Grovelands journey from selecting a place for our loved one, getting to know and celebrate individual preferences and personal life stories and supporting us as a family when extra help is required. Communication is excellent. Standards of care and knowledge are remarkable. Staff are well trained and obviously enjoy their jobs. Staff at all levels without exception, all demonstrate compassion, understanding and love to residents and visitors alike. Care is patient and kind and the residents' needs are always the focus. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are varied and popular and our loved one particularly enjoyed the walks and art. In these past 4 years, they have had far more interests and new experiences than we could have ever imagined. We will be eternally grateful.
Whilst visiting with my partner I observed excellent care being provided, I am currently a registered nurse manager working within the social care sector, and I can confirm that I have witnessed outstanding care. As a family, we have absolute trust that our family member is receiving the very best care. Fantastic communication from all staff and management, with close personal relationships with the team which enables us to have total confidence that our family member is in the right place. I would highly recommend and encourage others to become part of the family here at Grovelands.
Mum was 95 and lived at Grovelands for 16 months, in that time she received the most compassionate care anyone could have wished for. The reception staff are efficient and very friendly. The care staff go above and beyond and ensure all residents are happy and kept safe. They all got to know Mum and her fun ways. She was a bit cheeky and did like to have a laugh and they certainly laughed with her. The activity team are amazing and friendly and encourages residents to become involved. Unfortunately, Mum's health deteriorated and her wish was to stay at the home rather than be admitted to hospital. The end-of-life care she received was exceptional, mum was treated with care and dignity at all times and the family were so very very grateful. I really miss visiting Mum and I also really miss all the staff who welcomed Mum's family into the Grovelands family.
It is difficult to believe that my mum has been in care now for over a year and moved to Grovelands after an initial placement in another group home didn't work out due to her illness. Mum is in the Petals Wing and she has settled in well and the management and staff have all been really great from the very beginning some 10/11 months ago when she moved in. There are some genuinely lovely staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome when visiting and I and my family feel secure in knowing that my mum is being well looked after. This is a great comfort to us as a family as we unfortunately live some distance away and visiting as often as we would like is not that easy. Thank you to all at Grovelands for the exceptional work that you do.
Held a family party for my mother's 95th birthday. The manager and the staff did a brilliant job of setting up the party in the marquee. The chef baked a fantastic birthday cake. Mum had a wonderful time seeing family together in one place for the first time since her 90th birthday. Thank you, Grovelands!
When choosing a care home for my Mother in 2022 Grovelands was head and shoulders above all the others we visited as it felt so friendly, homely, and welcoming. My usually stubborn and independent mother settled in very quickly, and we were delighted with the level of care provided. Unfortunately, Mother became terminally ill in October and died last week. All the care staff involved in looking after her were amazing, and so compassionate. We were thankful that she was able to receive end-of-life care without having to move to a hospice. Our thanks go to all the staff at Grovelands for making the last few months of my Mother's life so comfortable and bearable.
From my first contact with Grovelands, I have been very impressed by the staff, by their willingness to stop, welcome and answer my questions as I sought for good, kind, comprehensive care for an elderly lady (96) suffering from dementia. This lady has now been in residence for seven weeks and has settled remarkably well. I am very grateful to the staff for their respect, kindness and care that they have shown. After struggling at home with many aspects of personal care, it is lovely to see this lady so well cared for, enjoying good food and the wide variety of activities available. I am very grateful.
My dad became seriously ill on December 8th at Grovelands. A decision between my family, the home and the paramedic was made in Dad's best interest, to stay at Grovelands. His care during his last 8 days was amazing. The support he and we received was second to none. They kept him comfortable and pain-free and afforded his dignity at all times. We were welcomed into the 'Grovelands' family for which we will always be grateful and hold special memories.
My 93 year old father has been a resident in Grovelands for over a year. Health issues meant that it was no longer safe for him to be allowed to stay in his home. It was a difficult decision for my brother, sister and I, however, I can genuinely say that the decision to place him in Grovelands was the best that we could have made for him. The staff are exceptional and take the time to support my father in so many ways, from assisting with hospital visits to arranging trips out. There are so many activities for him to become involved in should he wish and it is lovely to receive the newsletter with photos of him joining in. Any questions we have are promptly answered by members of staff and the manager makes time to discuss any concerns that we may have. My father has a wonderful room overlooking the garden which he loves, both of which are beautifully maintained. He is quite adamant that he doesn't want to leave the home as he feels happy and safe there.
We have just moved my 93-year-old mum to Grovelands as sadly owing to her current needs she could no longer stay at her previous home. We viewed many care homes in the surrounding area and from the first time we walked into Grovelands it stood head and shoulders above all the others. From our first contact, their responses and communication have been excellent. Everyone we have met has been extremely friendly and helpful and the welcome for mum was first class. She loves her bright, airy room where there was still enough room for some of her own bits of furniture and personal items to make it feel like home. The ambience of the place is lovely, clean, bright and welcoming for residents, family and friends. Early days but so far so good.
I am well looked after, well-fed and there is a nice standard of cleanliness, hygiene and good support in the home. The staff are friendly and approachable and check on me frequently, showing care and concern.
Since my mum was admitted to the petals unit, I can only describe what I see as a positive experience for us and for Mum. She's settled in well. She has her bad days and good days. The staff are caring and deal with her physical/psychological needs very well in sometimes what is challenging situations. The care is person-centred and the staff well trained. I am kept well informed. A very big thank you to all of you from Mum and us.
On first entering this home I was impressed. I was met by a member of staff and shown to my room, which was bright and airy and well-decorated. After settling in I was taken to the dining room to join them for lunch which was excellent with very good choices. Throughout my respite stay, I was always included at all times. I was permitted to use my mobility scooter and was encouraged to do so. The quality and selection of food at meal times were exceptional. The staff, from the manager down, were always ready to give advice or assistance where needed. It was in my mind one big family which I enjoyed. Activities were available every day on a variety of issues even down to a walking group. At a reasonable time in the evening, the night staff would make themselves known and always looked into my room during the night hours which was very assuring. It boasts a very welcoming garden when conditions allow with plenty of seating. If I needed a care home in the future I would choose Grovelands.
I have been so impressed by the care given to my husband by all members of staff at Grovelands. The home is clean, bright and welcoming and the staff are exceptionally bright and professional and have made the most difficult decision of having to put my husband into care, as easy as possible for both of us. I visit frequently and at no notice and he is always clean and comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Grovelands to anyone looking for really good care.
I have no complaints whatsoever about Grovelands Residential Home after almost a year of experience. Life during lockdown was understandably difficult at times but well managed. Now the situation has eased, I can see that residents are able to engage in a greater variety of activities, especially outings. A meeting with the manager and staff was recently held. It was so useful to learn about their particular interests and roles. It was very obvious that the staff know the residents well and were very caring. I am very happy that we chose Grovelands for our friend.
We as a family can't speak highly enough of our experience of Grovelands since our mum moved in four weeks ago. From our very first call and initial visit to the care home, Grovelands set our minds at ease and made what could have been a very distressing situation into a supported and peaceful transition for our mother and us. The staff have accommodated all of Mum's needs and especially welcomed her little dog into the home to live with her. Mum is thriving and more peaceful than she has been since she lost her husband two years ago and we know this is due to the love, support and care that Grovelands offer. Along with the social aspect, activities, healthy food and brilliant surroundings that she now lives in, we feel confident that we have found the perfect home for her. We are forever grateful to the managers and staff of Grovelands for all they have done and continue to do to make Mum's new life phase comfortable, fulfilling and fun. We can relax knowing she is safe and happy and getting all her needs met.
As a family, together, we decided that my dad is going to be part of your homely and welcoming place to spend time with you as a resident. The carers, team members and management made us very welcome and plenty of reassurance that Dad had settled in very well and is a happy man. A huge thank you to all of the staff and team members at Grovelands.
My dad moved into the Petals wing of Grovelands in June 2021. He settled in quickly which is largely due to the care of the wonderful staff who always take the time to talk with him and understand his needs. I feel that I am kept updated and also feel that I can ring at any time to discuss any concerns that I may have. Dad enjoys the many activities which are organised and I am particularly grateful that the staff ensure that he gets regular exercise in the garden. He often tells me that the food is great and how lovely the staff are. I know that he feels safe there and I am so grateful to everyone at Grovelands for this.
As a family, we are extremely happy and content with Grovelands in Yeovil. The level of care, attention and respect given to our aunt is superb. The range of activities is excellent, the daily menus are full of high-quality ingredients and a great range of choices. The garden is delightful, allowing a sense of her own garden to sit in and enjoy the sunshine flowers and company. All of these things give our aunt a great quality of life while maintaining a sense of independence. The bedrooms with en-suite are large and roomy as are the communal rooms - the decor is modern with aspects of tradition. We know our aunt is safe, happy, well-fed and has activities which mean our visits or taking her out for the day is quality time. The care put in place for Covid for residents and relatives was well thought out and done with compassion so no one felt detached from family. The staff are all friendly, happy, compassionate, knowledgeable and caring in all departments. We fully recommend Grovelands.
My mum had a fall in October 2021 and unfortunately fractured her hip. I was not allowed to be with her due to the Covid virus. I cannot thank the carers enough for looking after her and comforting her through her ordeal. Mum has been a resident for 2-years now, and the home is absolutely fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough of everybody involved in her care. I would recommend the home to anybody.
