View Full Details of Kathleen Chambers HouseDue to failing eyesight and problems with mobility mum moved to Kathleen Chambers House in 2017. Her care has been excellent and we really had the feeling that Mum was valued by all the staff, carers, management, cleaners etc. All the staff were very approachable and if we had any concerns we were able to talk them through and they were remedied immediately. Sadly Mum passed away on November 20th. It became obvious on that day that her end was near so as a family we spent time with Mum. The staff were exemplary looking not just after Mum but after us too. One member of staff in particular was wonderful. Whilst leaving us to spend time with mum she popped back regularly to check on Mum and us. She knew when it was time to get medical help and took the time to explain to us what was being administered and what the effect would be. She was with me when Mum passed and was such a tremendous strength and comfort. I cannot praise her and the home highly enough.
Very first impression is that the premises are clean, tidy and well kept and cleaned regularly, with no nasty smells. All residents are well cared for and all their needs are met. The staff are happy and enthusiastic in their work. There is a positive atmosphere as soon as one enters the building. All other residents are cheerful, well-fed fed and obviously well-cared for. I would definitely recommend this home.
Mum has only been at Kathleen Chambers House three weeks, but the early signs are excellent. Mum has settled in nicely. She has a key worker assigned to her, all the staff and many of the residents know her now. She does daily activities including listening to poetry, quizzes, crafts and reminiscing. The food is great, Mum and her room are always spotless. Security is very efficient and I am always greeted with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble.
I have nothing but praise for this home. There is a good cook, a lovely dining room and a varied menu which can cater for different tastes. The staff are mainly long-standing, local and take the time to know the family. They are all friendly and cheerful. There are many activities available and a lovely craft room, TV lounge, conservatory and a nice garden to sit out in. There is a hairdressing room with a regular hairdresser. My mother's room has a small kitchenette and fridge so visitors can sit and have a cup of tea and she can keep her treats. She has an ensuite. She is always treated with dignity and respect. Her clothes are kept beautifully clean and tidy. They have a monthly newsletter. If anything is highlighted to them they act on it immediately. They are very alert to residents' well-being and will organise transport for dentists and appointments etc. and are very much in contact with local GPs. I could not have found a better home for her.
I have found the staff at the home to be consistently friendly and helpful, and I have always been made to feel welcome when I visit. Staff are always quick to assist my father when he uses the staff call buzzer. The whole house seems to be kept at a very high level of cleanliness, and the food seems to be of good quality. I have seen the activity programme and was quite impressed with what was being offered. The management is extremely approachable and is always available for a chat. Thoroughly recommended.
Dad had to move from his sheltered housing flat to Kathleen Chambers to receive the extra help and support that he desperately needed. He did not want to move and it was a very stressful and difficult time for us as a family trying to do the right thing. After looking around and having all our questions and concerns answered, Dad moved into his new flat. With the help of the staff, Dad settled in very quickly. He is treated with respect and kindness at all times. Dad has nothing but good to say about his new home and the care he receives from the staff at Kathleen Chambers. To the management and all the staff, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making a stressful and difficult time so much easier for us.
My mother-in-law was so well looked after by all the staff at Kathleen Chambers House in Burnham-on-Sea. She was a wonderful lady who was treated with the utmost respect by the staff. The home was clean, well maintained and her laundry always smelt wonderful and was well ironed. Ours and her experience was terrific. I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.
My mother chose to go to Kathleen Chambers House as she had macular degeneration, and all the staff were trained to look after clients with failing eyesight. They would always greet her saying who they were, and what they were there to do. The care of the personal laundry was amazing. My mother was very happy there for 3 years.
My Dad has been a resident at Kathleen Chambers House for almost a year, after suffering a stroke which left him needing care. The staff and management are wonderful. The premises are a little dated but comfortable and homely. Dad enjoys his food and the menu choices are good. He is happy and feels secure and well-cared for. Thank you to all involved at this difficult time.
I am the chairman of a charity run independent elder person home, in the locality. When my father-in-law needed a care home, I discussed options with my house manager who has 19 years service with our home and has knowledge of every care home, Kathleen Chambers was her number 1 choice. As my father-in-law had suffered from a stroke and had rehab at hospital, an occupational therapist visited the home (first-ever visit to Kathleen Chambers House), she considered it to be one of the best care homes she had ever visited (with over 30 years experience and visits to most care homes in Somerset), high praise indeed. The staff from the manager, to every other staff member, is one of care and professionalism and my father-in-law, who previously lived with me and my wife for over 21 years, has settled in very well. He loves the activities organised from singing, to craftwork and trips out. Cannot praise this home highly enough.
Kathleen Chambers House has a caring, respectful ethos, ensured by its excellent management and staff. It feels like an extended family, and my father feels cared about and valued. I feel included in any decisions related to my fathers care, which I value. In fact, all staff foster an open and friendly relationship with residents families. Food could, at times, be better according to Dad, and activities are curtailed due to Covid, otherwise, the home is excellent.
The home is extremely well run by a dedicated team of staff, headed by an outstanding management team. Most of the staff have been there a long time (no agency staff) which means they are able to provide great levels of care to the residents. That is very important in these days of Covid. During this pandemic, they have managed the wishes of residents and relatives to be able to meet up in a controlled and safe environment in a successful way. There have been no positive tests amongst the residents or staff. I am always kept up to date with any issues concerning my mother and I feel that I am always able to approach the home if I have any concerns. Although they have recently been taken over by a private company, the majority of staff are still there and I am confident moving forward that the level of care provided will continue to be excellent.
I initially visited Kathleen Chambers House with my friend when she was first considering admission and have visited regularly ever since. I have always been impressed by the quality of care and the sensitivity staff show to residents. Even throughout Covid, they have made strenuous attempts to ensure visitors are able to see residents. My negative marks concern recurring problems with food (very important in a residential care home) and activities. When operating, these were of a high quality but there have recently been staff shortages.
Kathleen Chambers House is a well-run home, with a caring and friendly ethos. The facilities for residents are very good with special adaptations for visually impaired residents. Rooms are clean, warm and well furnished. The main complaint my mother has is with the food. She often is not served with the food she has chosen, and sometimes sends food back to be re-heated as it is cold. This is a shame, as apart from the food, she is happy at Kathleen Chambers House.
Kathleen Chambers House is superbly run while always being compassionate in its approach. Throughout getting Mum a room to helping her integrate and subsequently adapting to her changing needs the staff and management have shown their commitment and good humour. The recent Covid situation has been excellently and carefully managed with superb communication throughout. Any request is met with an immediate and always helpful response. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
A very happy and caring environment. Excellent facilities in the home and gardens. Staff and management are always helpful and supportive of residents, visitors and volunteers. Good training and induction programmes for volunteers.
