View Full Details of Sunnyside Care HomeWhilst in the care home, my relative was treated with the utmost dignity and care. When she passed away, it appeared that the management did not care about her relatives or her personal possessions. When I collected her possessions, several items were missing and I had to ask for some which had been put in store and not with her possessions. There was no contact or appearances at my relative's funeral or remembrance service at the church. I am really disappointed with the management once my relative had passed away as they had no thought of feelings for the relatives. I have heard nothing from the home and it is twelve months since. The staff were most thoughtful with our loss but not the management.
A lovely friendly home. Caring and lovely staff, always smiling and helpful. Recommend this home to anyone. Would not be afraid to leave your family here, it's lovely.
My mother is looked after so well. A real homely feel and fantastic care.
Sunnyside was a lovely home for the last four years of my granny's life. The care staff are kind, patient and considerate. Granny always used to say she was very well looked after and that the food was very nice. The facilities are of good quality with a nice lounge and a lovely garden, which granny enjoyed sitting in. Thank you to all the lovely people at Sunnyside over the last four years.
My mum moved to Sunnyside only six weeks ago and already we see a positive change in her behaviour and mood. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble.
My father spent the last four months of his life at Sunnyside. The staff worked very hard to help him settle in. They were very professional and friendly, providing a homely environment. He always praised the quality and volume of food. We particularly like the fact that the home was small enough for residents to get to know each other and the staff. The size of the home was an important reason for our choice of care home. Thank you to everyone.
My mother stayed at Sunnyside for the last few weeks of her precious life. I can honestly say I can't imagine a more perfect place for her. The manager and the staff were excellent, compassionate, gentle, flexible and loving - I can't speak highly enough about them. Once you meet the manager, you just know this is going to be a special place - her caring attitude is infectious, and her staff follow her lead. As mentioned before, I can't recommend Sunnyside highly enough.
My uncle is staying at Sunnyside, and he likes it there, which is peace of mind for me. When I visit, the home is clean and doesn't give off unpleasant smells.
Good staff. Good management. Nice food. Always willing to help.
The care provided by the staff at Sunnyside is excellent. They work hard under sometimes difficult circumstances but are always smiling and helpful. The home has a small number of residents compared to many, and therefore, the care is tailored to each resident, and the staff get to know the residents, which makes for a very homely environment.
Staff and managers are always welcoming, keen to help, and always keep me informed. Residents are encouraged to eat and participate in activities together. This is a kind and caring place.
I moved into Sunnyside on October 31st, 2022, and it has been so welcoming and homely. The staff are all so helpful and kind, and nothing is too much trouble. The only thing I could wish for is more residents able to have a conversation with, but that is all. The room is very comfortable, and I was able to bring some things from home. I am very happy here and couldn't do any better.
A lovely care home. Great staff who genuinely care for you as an individual so feels like home too. A huge thank you to one and all.
The care Sunnyside have given my grandmother over the last two and a half years has been amazing. The caring, compassionate staff have been there to make her last year happy and comfortable. The home is extremely clean and hygienic, and the staff are easy to talk to and help in any way they can.
Staff are friendly, the home is kept clean. Meals are very good. The activity coordinator is very good and provides residents with a good variety of activities. When the weather is fine, I like that washing is hung outside, it's nice to have outside space.
A good review and excellent service.
My Mother has been a resident for the past 3 years and during my visits in 2017 there have been redecorations to the downstairs communal areas and kitchens which have improved the atmosphere overall. The most reassuring improvement has been the availability of information through communications with the Manager. As both daughters live a great distance from Chard and can only visit every few months, we need to trust the quality of care Mum receives. With her sight and hearing diminishing it has been very helpful to discuss her specific needs on the phone and through emails when necessary with the Manager. There are also some members of staff who are particularly caring - who treat her almost like their own mothers which is hugely valuable to someone who is mentally alert but physically in need of support. It has been useful to receive details of events arranged for residents (by email) and to know that her birthday was celebrated.
The staff are committed to care and listen to all clients requirements. E.g I would like a boiled egg for my tea. Clients are encouraged to take part in social activities e.g talking to children, stroking animals, talking to other service users. Clients are helped to feel more independent, e.g using outside expertise, such as doctors visits, ear tests, eye tests. Clients are always treated seriously, as responsible adults (within the limits of their own safety). Clients are helped to keep up communication with the outside world e.g by helping with letter writing. Visitors are welcomed and made to feel a valuable part of the life of the service user eg offered a cup of tea, a conversation, a chair. Even though staff are obviously busy, nothing appears to be too much trouble. The attitude of the staff is clearly reflected in the pleasant atmosphere of the care home. However, using feedback from my mother, meals are not always interesting and it is difficult to persuade her to leave her room.
My mother became a resident at Sunnyside in August 2017, as she is suffering from Alzheimer’s. She seems to be happy there. She has an attractive room on the ground floor, where she has some of her personal belongings. This room overlooks the garden giving her an attractive view. She is well looked after and enjoys her meals in the dining room with the other residents. She spends quite a lot of time in the sitting room where she takes part in activities and socialises with the other residents. She also spends time in the sun or games room where we play Scrabble with her when we visit. This is a good space for families. The staff are always friendly and listen carefully to my mother who is very deaf. They keep her clean and tidy and often help her dress with flair and style which is important to mum as she always enjoyed dressing attractively. Sunnyside provides a pleasant, caring, secure environment for my mother and I feel happy about her quality of life there.
Sunnyside is a very warm and welcoming home. A lot of re-decoration has been carried out recently within the home and in the garden. During my Uncle's stay, he was always very happy and was full of praise for the staff. I would definitely recommend Sunnyside. It has a home from home feeling about it and I was always made to feel very welcome. A small home with a big heart.
