View Full Details of Westerley Christian Care HomeI just wanted to write and say how wonderful Westerley Christian Care Home have been looking after our mum. She arrived really struggling to get up and walk, following a long hospital visit. She is now doing really well, enjoys socialising in the day in the conservatory. Eats well and joins in the activities, like drives up to the moors. She is now able to walk again with her Zimmer frame. She is calm and relaxed looking out onto the beautifully looked-after garden. We couldn't ask for more from the amazing kind care team. We feel very lucky to have found Westerley Christian Care Home.
For over three years as a resident at Westerley, my father has been looked after by every single carer as though he was their relative and treated with respect and friendship. I have nothing but praise for them all, especially during the past two years. Their encouragement and good humour after a fall, initially, lifted him and helped him to recover. He knows he has a safety net around him in case of an emergency. His physical, dietary and social needs are met and he loves and takes an interest in the garden, which he enjoys whenever he can. We are kept informed of any problems and our enquires are always dealt with promptly.
The staff at Westerley Christian Care Home are friendly, professional and always have time for questions etc. I don't know of the activities on offer, but I haven't checked the webpages.
My mother is currently receiving care at Westerley and she loves it! She contracted Covid at home last year, spending 3 months in hospital before returning home. Unfortunately at the age of 86 she lost her mobility. The staff at Westerley are excellent and care for all the clients with compassion and love. Mum enjoys the craft activities, the Christian services as well as the sociability of other residents. The food is of a good standard, with varied menus and choices. Mum wants to return home to be with my dad but I am sure she will definitely miss everyone at Westerley when she does.
Very homely.
My mother, of 96 years, has been a resident at Westerley for almost 3 years. During this time she has been very well cared for by some lovely carers who keep me informed of how she is doing. There is a very pleasant garden in which to sit and walk around, and activities for those wishing to socialise.
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. Management always approachable.
My mother has been a resident for the last eight months following a series of falls at home, resulting in a hospital stay. The staff and management have been most kind and welcoming. In my mum's own words, they take such wonderful care of her. She also has special dietary requirements, which they cater for, and are always getting her new things to eat! Nothing is too much trouble, and they also welcome us, her family very warmly. With care homes only being reported in the media in a poor light, I think it is only fair that this care home should have all of the praise it deserves.
My mother has been in Westerley Christian Care Home for nearly five years. She is very happy, contented and much loved by all the carers and staff in the home. All the staff are extremely caring and kind. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. My mother's room is large, well furnished and has a large en-suite wet room and toilet etc. Mum's general health and medication are very well organised, and she is attended to speedily if needs arise. She enjoys her meals and dines with other residents for the midday meal. There is no pressure to attend religious services which are available.
A highly compassionate care home. General ambience is excellent. Care, kindness and attitude of members of staff are of the highest standard. Always a welcome when visit. Plenty of activities for residents. I have visited many care homes, and this is in the top league.
I stayed for 1 week's respite care in the home following cancer surgery. It proved to be the best thing I ever did. It allowed my recovery to be gentle and supportive. The staff were all quietly efficient and the facilities warm and inviting. This month I stayed for another week following invasive care in hospital. Again, the care was outstanding in every way. My room overlooked a beautiful garden and was kept spotless. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home for short or long term care.
My mother moved into Westerley from her own home. She had been reluctant to give up her independence but realised that she needed more care than 4 visits per day from carers. She has settled in really well, surprisingly so. While she has some moans, she is really happy with the staff, the food and the care she is given. Thank you.
Whilst being a visitor to a friend I found Westerley Christian Care home warm, welcoming, very secure (you can't get in or out without a staff member). Lunch is home cooked food and the trifle was delicious. The rooms are all airy, light and very comfortable. Everything is very clean and tidy. the staff are excellent.
My mother spent her final months at Westerley Christian Care Home and absolutely loved it. She was cared for with love and compassion in a Christian context. Nothing was too much trouble and when she became ill and needed end of life care, the staff were wonderful. Our family was treated with consideration and looked after brilliantly. Mum was cared for with great dignity right until the end of her life. We are so grateful.
From my point of view as a carer, I observed a very clean home and environment with professional staff with commitment to the "small" things. Overall my mother felt lonely being 40 miles from home and was sensitive to the changes in routine. At 100 years old she found the bedding different, the marmalade packets were difficult to undo the butter pats like oil. Non-commital over the worship times and "activities" But appreciated early cup of tea, care staff checking through the night 5* for baths!!
Lovely atmosphere. Staff always helpful and friendly. Clean environment, great range of activities and varied choice of meals.
Everyone working at the home from the manager to the cleaners are pleasant and helpful. The residents all seem happy and there are lots of activities for them. The resident I visit is aged 98 and he loves the food and the comfort of the home. The carers are so gentle and kind to the residents. I am 72 myself and if ever I found it difficult to cope, I would love to reside and spend the rest of my life at the Westerley Christian Care Home
As soon as I walked into the care home it felt so homely and a very good atmosphere, the staff are so kind and have a great rapport with the residents. My mum loves it at the Westerley, she has a great relationship with the staff and has a good friendship with the other ladies. She loves the food and everybody seems to enjoy themselves, always something going on. Great activities and outings for them to enjoy. I am happy that my mum is too.
I needed six weeks to recover from an ankle operation and so chose The Westerley very quickly on the internet because it was in the lovely town of Minehead and it was a Christian house. I was given a lovely room with en-suite wet room, ground floor and double aspect onto a lovely garden. The staff here are amazing, they are local people of varying ages, male and female. Nothing was too much trouble and we've always pleasant, courteous, obliging and cheerful. One year six weeks, I never heard a cross word, heard them complain, express frustration. They had a lovely approach to the older and dependent resident. I was greatly moved by what I saw and heard. They were a great team, needing little management.
Westerley Care Home in Minehead ticks all the boxes. My friend was very happy there, her room was bright and clean. The staff were all very dedicated, caring and loving. In her first couple of days she was treated with the greatest respect and dignity. She was attended to at all times. As a visitor I was always made to feel welcome. The home is just like home, with a feeling of peace and warmth. I would recommend it 100% to anyone. Thank you.
