View Full Details of Wyndham HouseWyndham House provides an essential respite time between a spell in hospital and home with organised home help/support. The staff were all kind, thoughtful and nothing too much trouble. As one of the younger 'inmates' I found end-of-day meals somewhat limiting but appreciate it suits most of the clients.
Since my mother-in-law in the home, she has settled in really well - has joined in lots if activities. When she lost her partner, the staff were very kind and helped her stay active and not stay in her room. We find the home very welcoming and Mum loves it there.
Overall very happy with the way Mum and Dad are being looked after. There are challenges but the staff are amazing and will always look for solutions. It is difficult to judge 'value for money' as we have nothing to compare their experience with but from my point of view knowing that Mum and Dad are so well looked after is invaluable.
Excellent staff, very attentive. The manager was very approachable. Tea was offered to us as guests as well as residents. All staff were attentive to our needs. A credit to themselves and residents. Well done.
All the staff address you by name. They are very knowledgeable, caring and reassuring. The food is good and of high quality. The cakes were excellent! The rooms are okay, loos nearby. TVs are available. There are three lounges, one with TV.
My husband is a resident at Wyndham he is a changed man since being moved here. The staff are amazing always welcoming, he is really happy here couldn't wish for a better home. The entertainment they put on for residents is great and my husband enjoys joining in highly recommended, lovely place.
Just need to put this in writing, a huge thank you to absolutely everyone at Wyndham House. Both my parents were residents at Wyndham, sadly my mother passed on the 22nd December, it was very peaceful but leaving my father broken. The care and affection given to my dad over the past couple of weeks cannot be bettered. Christmas Day a table was laid in a private room and a wonderful meal was given to my dad, my wife and I. Every member of staff that came in was so pleasant and helped make light of a sad time. I can honestly say that the staff there are there for the good of the residents, they have a vocation, nothing is too much trouble and there’s always a smile. It’s comforting knowing a parent is being looked after especially when you are four-plus hours away.
Our 96 year old father came to Wyndham House for 4 weeks respite care and left a changed man, having been given encouragement and support to be more independent and having felt as if he'd stayed in a very good hotel! Many of the staff were exceptional, being sensitive to Dad's needs and showing respect for his dignity at all times often aware of any possible problems before they happened. Being a larger care home meant that he was offered services such as hair, foot and nail care which he'd been unable to access easily at home, as well as social activities. He really enjoyed the variety and quality of freshly prepared home-cooked food, especially the cakes and porridge! The dining room staff made sure he was able to eat independently and with dignity and soon understood his preferences. Although his room seemed rather small and did not have private facilities except for a hand basin, his personal care was respectful and of a high standard and he felt comfortable and safe.
A warm and friendly reception. The staff are always welcoming and smiling. Staff remember my husband's name. The home gives the appearance of staff who are happy despite the difficulties. Room are warm and comfortable.
Mum has been at Wyndham House for a few months. She's been well looked after, with care, respect, dignity, and sense of humour! The staff supporting Mum are also supporting us, emotionally, it's so very hard to entrust someone else to care for your loved one as you did. All staff are approachable and any issues can be raised promptly and are dealt with with professionalism. From observation 90% of staff work extremely hard, to maintain high standards, and some will do the bare minimum. But the care standard is high, the atmosphere is cheerful, welcoming. Thank you to ALL staff for the role you each play in Mum's care.
I looked after my brother in law for 33 years and him and his parents before that, the care he receive at Wyndham was wonderful he really enjoyed it there and loved his food. He had a wonderful 6 years there. My husband said if ever he had to go into a care home he wants to go there, and I would also.
Thank you for taking such good care of my husband during his unexpectedly long period of respite care. Every time I called or visited I had a strong sense of how much care and effort the team made to keep him calm relaxed and happy. Wyndham House itself was well run with facilities such as hairdressing, manicure and pedicure. There was a choice of activities available during the day with a Church Service on Sunday. All in all, I would be happy to suggest to anyone looking for a care home that they take a look at Wyndham House.
The staff at Wyndham are fabulous so caring and helpful I feel happy that Mum is being looked after well, she says the food is nice and it certainly looks it. The activities team try to keep the residents occupied and engaged. Mum recently had an outing to the local cinema - what a great idea. Also, I am able to visit any time I like, which is very important. Well done to all at Wyndham House.
My mother moved into Wyndham House Care Home some thirteen years ago after a serious illness made managed care essential. She recently celebrated her hundredth birthday. We have no other living family and I live abroad. It has been a huge weight off my mind to know that she is being well looked after and our weekly video calls are invaluable for this.
Both my parents so wanted to be together at Wyndham House Care Home. Eventually they were there and in rooms next to each other. They were there around eighteen months. Absolutely felt like their home and they loved it. Obviously lock down was a major issue but we kept in touch daily and visited as often as we could albeit a four to five hour journey. Soon as restrictions lifted we tried to grab back that stolen time but age related illnesses had set in. Various hospital stays and difficulties with both of them sadly ended with us losing them both within a month. They wanted their final days together and mum died first, Dad held on till a week after her funeral and they were reunited. Wyndham went above and beyond always with care and support and kept me strong enough to push through a horrendous few weeks. I couldn't have done it without them. I made a donation to the comfort fund, had roses and a plaque to go into the gardens so all can sit and remember my parents. I am so very grateful and thankful to all there.
Mum has been comfortable and well cared for for the last sixteen years or so! As a manager in acacia training, I had no hesitation in using Wyndham and would recommend it to anyone! The staff are all friendly and professional.
My mother has been at the home for over a year now and I am extremely happy with the care provided. I have the greatest regard for all the staff at Wyndham House who are all very approachable and caring.
My mother stayed at Wyndham House for respite care in August and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. I had not seen my mother that happy in ages. She thought the care staff were great! Just after Christmas mum decided to revisit for another two weeks of respite care. Again, my mother praised the care staff and facilities. In herself, she was in a lower mood this time, though, appreciated the freedom to remain in her room or join in depending on how she was feeling. My experience is that the staff go the extra mile and have always taken the time to talk to me about mum, who they seem genuinely interested in. Thank you Wyndham House, please keep up the good work.
Mum enjoyed a stay of just over two years at Wyndham House having moved from her flat in Minehead. Sadly her dementia took her in June 2022. I have many fond memories of visiting her. She was particularly fond of all the communal activities that were laid on and always very complimentary about the food. I cannot fault the staff, the care they give each and every resident and especially the care and attention I witnessed being given to mum, the way they communicated with me as mum's condition deteriorated, the patience they exuded during difficult times, especially during the periods of Covid lockdowns, the cleanliness of the rooms and all communal areas. The staff always seemed to go the extra mile to make sure everything was just right. I am eternally grateful for the care and support given throughout mum's stay.
The staff at Wyndham House have always been caring, professional, kind and respectful towards my Mother. The office staff keep me informed at all times. Mum feels at home and enjoys the food, services such as hair care and manicures and pedicures but most of all she enjoys visiting with carers and staff and sharing her life experiences also being read to. When we visit from America the staff make us feel welcome.
