View Full Details of The Old VicarageOur lovely Mum has been here for the last two years of her life, she said to me and I think too that the carers had given her an extra two years of life. Mum came into this welcoming home just after her 100th birthday. She has been so well cared for and much loved by everyone in the home. She stayed in her room which overlooked the garden and the view over Monkton Park. She didn't really want to socialise downstairs but loved the visits from the carers and would chat happily with them and probably knew all of their names. Mum once said to me when we were coming back from a rare trip out "It's good to be back home " That is what the Old Vicarage is a warm, caring home and it feels safe and if you need help it's there. I am so glad Mum was with you all. Sadly Mum passed away on the 20th of December. The staff and carers, everyone looked after us as well as Mum. Will miss coming to Mum's last home. Thank you.
My aunt chose the Old Vicarage after we did lots of research and she tried out another place. Since entering the Old Vicarage she had no doubts it was for her. The atmosphere and friendliness are really striking. The manager was extremely helpful with her relocation. There are plentiful activities and the care is attentive. My aunt and her relatives are all very pleased that she is at the Old Vicarage.
A wonderful home for an old man, I really enjoy living there. The management and staff are always encouraging and caring. Everyone is friendly and easy to talk to whether it is about my care or world or local news. The food is excellent with the chefs always looking for new and original recipes so it is never boring, there is no question of a revolving routine menu
When I visited in mid-December The Old Vicarage was gearing up for Christmas. Wreaths had been made by the residents, the raffle to raise money for the residents' stockings was in full swing and the Christmas trees sparkling. My aunt was on good form and judging from the social media page photos a lot of the residents spent the festive few days at the home and there were a variety of activities that were enjoyed by all.
My relative has been in The Old Vicarage for almost 10 months which has proven to be the absolute best decision and care that my relative could ever have. They are a great team and provide the best care and one-to-one with their residents. The progress my relative has made since moving to The Old Vicarage has been remarkable. I can't praise them enough for all they do. I would highly recommend this care home for anyone who is looking for the perfect care for their loved ones.
Good to know that the resident is well cared for and in a happy and secure environment in their own room surrounded by their own belongings. Nice to see that the garden has finally been tidied up and is a peaceful haven for residents.
From the first time, I stepped foot in The Old Vicarage, it felt like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers. My mother has been here for nine months, and my feelings haven’t changed, and she is very happy being there. The staff are incredibly kind and caring, and we were so welcoming to my mother when she first arrived, so she settled in very quickly. My mother has a lovely room which was painted for her in a colour of our choice and then was allowed to bring with her various pieces of furniture to make it feel more homely. It has a wonderful view of the very pretty garden and river and is very peaceful. During this time, she has been quite ill but was so well cared for here, with never any mention of the possibility of being sent to the hospital; since then, with all the care and love from the staff, she has made a wonderful recovery.
The Old vicarage is like home from home, it’s a cosy, happy environment. My grandmother has been absolutely happy and content for the six years that she has stayed. As a family we know that she is well cared for and treated with respect and love at all times. The Old Vicarage is spotlessly clean and the food is great, I cannot fault it.
My father is a difficult resident, he walks with a zimmer frame but is secure in The Old Vicarage. He is able to be independent and leaves each day to walk to town and get his exercise. He is very well looked after and the staff are lovely and friendly. The Old Vicarage is like one big family.
Visiting The Old Vicarage is always a pleasure, one would not detect that one is visiting an elderly car home; it is fresh and homely more often than not, the smell of home cooking leading up to meal times is so reassuring. Knowing that your loved one is being provided with home cooked food every day. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and what fun they can be especially in the way they stimulate all the residents and make their life as stimulating as possible. I whole heartedly commend The Old Vicarage in Chippenham for providing constant piece of mind and making our grandmother so happy and content. We have never visited our relative to find them in anything other than clean clothes and never had to listen to our relative complain so much as once in all 6 years she has been living at The Old Vicarage. Super carers delivering consistency in standards across all aspects of caring for grandmother.
My dad left Warrington, his home town, at the age of 100 so the whole family was very nervous about moving him, not only from his own home but to a nursing home 200 miles away. Whilst my dad physically needed a great deal of help, mentally he was on the ball and knew what he wanted in his new surroundings. From the very first day, both my dad and the family were very impressed with the staff at The Old Vicarage, nothing was too much for them and my dad was treated as an individual not a male patient in Room 19 or whatever. The staff went out of their way to make him feel comfortable and at home. I cannot speak too highly of the manager and all of the staff for making my dad's time at the home so comfortable and giving him all the attention he needed. I and other members of the family visited the home on a daily basis and we were welcomed with open arms and I always found my dad was comfortable and grateful for the care and attention paid to him.
On arrival we were met by the owner and staff who were welcoming, and reassuring. They went out of their way to settle my mum in law into her new home. Without exception, the staff are friendly, courteous, genuinely caring and fully aware of each individual residents needs whilst having a sense of humour. It is a hugely difficult decision to place a family member into care and my wife was extremely reticent about doing so. She now recognises that her mum needs considerably more support than she would be able to provide. To see the way that my mum in law is cared for, has without doubt reassured us that we have made the right decision on her behalf. She is thriving more than we ever thought possible. To provide some context to this review, this is the third care home which we and my mum in law have experienced and by far the best. The home is extremely well run which is underpinned by the ethos that the residents quality of life, care and needs are paramount, regardless of their situation.
Mum has been in The Old Vicarage since January 2023 after being diagnosed with dementia and I was apprehensive as to how she would be as she has always been very independent. I had no need to have any concerns as from the moment we arrived the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, taking mum for tea in the lounge and introducing other residents. The manager and the staff are very approachable and mum has been very comfortable and settled in well, she is far more relaxed and I look forward to our visits. Her room is very comfortable with wonderful views over the garden and I am fully confident that all mum's medical needs are being met. I am very happy to recommend The Old Vicarage if you are looking for a residential home for your loved one. (The food looks and smells amazing!)
When Dad arrived at The Old Vicarage we were unsure if it was the right place or if he needed a dedicated nursing home as his health had deteriorated significantly in the previous months. When he arrived he needed 2 people to assist him with his balance and had become largely chair bound. With gentle love and care the transformation in my Father was wonderful to see. He was soon walking with only the assistance of his zimmer, loving going to the banquet table for lunch and dinner and was clearly very comfortable in this home from home. The attentive and loving staff enjoyed a laugh and joke with my Dad and they very soon became his friends along with the other residents. With The Old Vicarage having less than 20 residents all the staff get to know all the residents well and the warmth of the relationships makes the home such a happy place. I visited very regularly and at different times and every time the home was warm and friendly with smiles on both the resident's and staff's faces.
When our mother arrived at The Old Vicarage she was very unwell, frail and frightened. The kind, gentle and supportive staff here spent time talking to her, helping her to settle in and encouraging her in every way. Within a very short time, she had grown in confidence and was walking again, enjoying time in the garden, and looking forward to meals in a way she hadn’t for at least a year. All staff (domestic, care, catering and managers) were 100% caring whilst also being totally professional. Our mother only spent two months here before her death but I can honestly say it had been a long time since she felt so safe and so hopeful about life. She so enjoyed the time staff spent with her and the conversations they shared.
Mum is so happy and settled at The Old Vicarage and the care she receives is second to none. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming and we are very grateful for all their hard work in keeping the residents safe and free from covid during the recent pandemic. Mum is very sociable and enjoys all the various activities that are arranged for the residents - particularly the musical ones!
The Old Vicarage Care Home came highly recommended to me when I was looking for a care home for my dear mother-in-law and I have been so impressed! - Impressed to the extent that when my time comes I shall eagerly look forward to becoming one of their residents! The staff are always so friendly and helpful and really do care about their residents. It feels like "home from home". Each room has its own distinct character as has the dining room and sitting room. The garden is delightful and the boat house is a real asset for sitting outside comfortably when the family visit. In a nutshell, we, the family, could not wish for better!
I miss my home, but I couldn't have moved into a better place and this is now my second home. They keep me safe and to have no covid-19 in the home is a sign of the staff and management's dedication. (I only put good for activities as I like my own company) Thank you.
The Old Vicarage has provided great care and support to my dad over the months since he moved in, working with the additional challenges that Covid-19 restrictions have put on visits. The staff are always cheery and helpful, Dad is complimentary of the food served (happy to try meet specific requirements) and work hard to provide social activities for all the residents. The gardens are a lovely place to sit out. Nothing seems too much trouble
A very happy positive attitude from all staff looking after my Dad. Always doing the best they can for him. He couldn’t be in a better place, especially during the pandemic. Very accommodating towards my brother and myself throughout a very challenging time.
