View Full Details of Staverton HouseThis care home is a true gem. Foremost the staff are absolutely wonderful. Extremely kind with often complex dementia patients. All are treated with respect and humour. The atmosphere is warm and cheerful. It is a small facility so the staff know the patients really well. The team is very cohesive with superb managers who have been at Staverton House for years. Often there is a buzz in the house with so many cheerful staff around, meals and activities happening eg farm animals in a pen in the sitting room- lambs on residents' laps ! ball games, music and many arts and crafts sessions. The staff decorate the shared spaces with seasonal decorations so that the residents are aware of the time of year and also festive decorations for Christmas and Easter for example. The food is really good. The residents have freshly made baked goods at tea time too! Some of my father's family live abroad and biweekly at 9.30 am the staff connect us with him on Zoom which is fantastic for us and him.
The care at Staverton House for my husband, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease and PD Dementia, can only be described as excellent. Staverton House is run efficiently by an excellent manager who trains her staff to her own high standard. The friendliness and care offered by both carers and ancillary staff is beyond reproach. Any concerns I may have about my husband are dealt with immediately and efficiently.
I could not be happier with every aspect of the care and facilities at Staverton House. It is a joy to see the respect and genuine care the staff have for the residents. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. My sister has made friends and feels secure. The staff treat everyone individually and keeps the family updated. I feel privileged knowing how lucky we are to have found such an amazing home for my sister. Thank you to everyone; please know you are appreciated.
As we live over 16,000 km away, we cannot visit often. The staff is always so kind to help with Zoom meetings. The level of activities is excellent. When there are issues, staff/management always come up with wise solutions. And most of all: the staff are kind, very kind and very good with giving medications on time. My father-in-law is unlucky with his dementia but ended up in a great care home.
The hardest decision anyone can make is to put a loved one into residential care. To know that they are well cared for and all their needs are being met is paramount. Staverton House provides all of these things and so much more. The staff are literally amazing. The way they talk to my mum and all the other residents is nothing but admirable. Her care is exemplary; she is always clean and well-dressed and never just sat in her room alone. Time is taken every meal time to feed her without making her feel like she’s a child. Her dignity is of utmost concern to the staff, and they do this with such love and care. Her mind is kept active with all the activities that are organised; she can sing, clap and laugh along with the staff and other residents. The management is of the highest standard, and the staff are just wonderful. I am in awe of what these girls and guys do on a daily basis. The decision that my dad and I made to put Mum into Staverton House was the best decision we have ever made.
I cannot praise Staverton House enough. The atmosphere is so lovely! Management has created a wonderful place where relatives with dementia are not just treated with respect, but are allowed to be themselves and are not forced into any strict regime. Residents find that fun and enjoyment is always close at hand. The staff are just brilliant and you couldn’t ask for a better place!
I can't speak highly enough about this care home. After much searching in November last year, the moment I walked through the front door I knew it was the right place. Although an unannounced visit, I was greeted warmly and given the time to look around. It was warm, clean and obviously well-managed. Mum has been there a year last month and on visiting her only yesterday, she started telling me how happy and well looked after she felt. She wanted for nothing else and the most reassuring comment she made was that she felt 'safe', music to a son's ears! I can't finish without flagging up the quality of all the staff I have interacted with, from management through housekeeping and of course front line care givers.
I have always found the staff to be really helpful and friendly. Whenever I visit I’m always made to feel welcome. I really feel that they care about my father and look after him well. The home are very good at keeping us update on my father's well-being. I really cannot fault the staff.
My dear dad has been a resident of Staverton House/the Old Vicarage for 5 years. The love and care given to my dad by all of the staff has been exemplary, so much thought is given to each resident's care allowing them the opportunity to flourish and enjoy their lives despite their various medical issues. The many activities from pancake making, Christmas parties, gardening, visiting animals etc are fully enjoyed by all, with families included at events throughout the year. We could not be happier with Dad's care, a proper home from home.
My husband had stage fice kidney disease, insulin dependence, diabetes and Alzheimer's. He had become unmanageable at home and had been in respite elsewhere, who were threatening to evict him. I visited Staverton House with a friend and immediately felt cared for. The manager offered him a place, even though she knew about the problems elsewhere. He was welcomed into the family, and his challenging behaviour was managed with sensitivity, humour and patience, and I was reassured it was nothing that had not been seen before. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their care of my husband and myself.
Initial visit, we received a friendly welcome. The managers gave my friend plenty of opportunities to discuss her relative needs. The manager showed empathy and a professional approach. The staff we met seemed friendly and enthusiastic about their role. There were activities, including massage, nails being varnished and the activity coordinator spending one-on-one time with a resident.
Lovely little care home. My mum has a cosy room overlooking the garden, clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly and helpful and always keep us updated. The family are confident Mum is having the care and support she requires. Recommend this care home if you want a small family-feel environment.
My wife has been a resident at Staverton for three years. My wife has deteriorated over this period due to her Alzheimer's. She is now confined to bed and needs constant care. During this period, she has recieved excellent care from the staff, managers and all the people involved with her care. She has a comfortable room, and her appearance is always clean and made as comfortable as possible. The staff are always pleasant and helpful.
Background - my mum is 83, has dementia and has been at Staverton House now for 6 months. We've always been fairly close, but now she doesn't know who I am. Her previous home closed due to retirement, and Staverton House was the only home offered. The first time I visited was moving Mum in. I have been impressed by the professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm of all the staff from day one. The rooms are large and bright, and from what I've seen, they all have en suites. I haven't seen any meals, so can't comment, but the menus are varied. There are regular on-site activities. Mum was seen by the local GP not long after arriving, who called me to give feedback. He commented that he would be happy to have a relative there. I agree; I am very happy to have Mum at Staverton House.
My wife has been a resident in Staverton House since September 2018. During this time, her dementia has worsened, and she has now lost her mobility and needs to use her wheelchair for lengthy distances; as she can only walk with her zimmer frame for a few yards. Recently she has had a stroke, the new manager, assistant manager and every member of staff have provided first-class care and support. The accommodation and facilities are excellent. The food is very good. There are good activities and entertainment, including visits to outside sources and activities. I am always welcomed and kept informed of my wife's condition.
This is a small, warm and friendly home from home for my husband. The carers are very caring dealing with some very difficult situations on a daily basis with smiles and warmth trying to make the residents lives as comfortable as possible.
We come to the home every day. We are greeted warmly and welcomed. Anything new we need to know, we are either told straight away or I have a phone call. The carers are kind, caring and efficient, seeing to my mum's every need. They carry all our worries, as we know they all do their very best. When Mum went into the home we had 3 basic wishes - for her to be safe, comfortable and fed. All of these things and much more are provided. We are very grateful to everyone at Staverton House.
I moved my uncle into Staverton House a month ago as he was becoming very forgetful and lived over an hour’s drive away. He has a lovely, bright, cheerful room with his own ensuite which he loves. The staff are caring and understanding and getting him involved in doing things as in his home he had become a recluse. They have walked with him to the local pub and had lunch which he very much enjoyed as he used to do this when he was fit and able. He has his daily paper and appears so much more relaxed. The meals are fabulous he says and finally is putting the weight back on that he lost. I can’t praise the home highly enough and want to say a BIG thank-you to them. They helped me when I needed help too. You are all wonderful.
As a family, we are very pleased with the care our mother receives. It is a relief to know she is in a safe environment. Staff are polite and always ready to answer any questions we may have.
This is a very well run home. The staff are caring and genuinely concerned with the wellbeing of their residents. The home is clean and well maintained and the accommodation is generous. The atmosphere is relaxed allowing the residents free reign with the minimum of interference, but not at the expense of the supervision. The regime is very flexible allowing residents to feel comfortable in what is, after all, their home. Highly recommended.
