View Full Details of St David'sSt David's is a real home from home. I feel very lucky to have been able to place my Dad in the care of the fantastic staff who deal with the day-to-day realities of caring for dementia and frail residents. Their warmth and humour ensure the residents are provided with a loving, caring environment and treated with dignity and respect. The food is amazing and all home-cooked. I found it difficult to deal with my Dad's behaviour on occasion but felt well supported by the manager and the staff. The building itself is in need of some TLC and it is good to see improvements have now started. Unfortunately, my dad's needs have increased following a prolonged stay in hospital. I only hope I can find a nursing home that matches the standards set by my experience of St David's.
All of the family were really upset that Mom had reached the stage when she needed 24-hour care due to Alzheimer's. It was so difficult to find the right place for her and we checked out a few homes. St David's stood head and shoulders above the rest. The warmth and love you feel when you walk through the door is wonderful. Mom's behaviour can be really challenging, but she is always treated with respect and care. The manager is wonderful too, full of knowledge and advice due to his many years dealing with this horrible condition. The food is wonderful and home-cooked too. Mom always says she loves her dinners. Thank you St David's for giving the whole family peace of mind about our much loved mom.
We visited many care homes before choosing St David's but as soon as we reviewed St Davis's we knew my mother would be well looked after. The atmosphere in the home is very welcoming, and friendly and the staff is just brilliant. My mother is very happy and enjoys all the activities, especially the dog visits from a local charity (weekly) and the food quality is excellent. I would recommend St David's to anyone looking for a top-class care home.
St David's is the very best place for my Mom. I was really nervous to have to find a place for my mom. The staff and management not only put my mom at ease, they looked out for me and helped and advised along the way. The home is clean, well-kept, warm and inviting. Mom loves the activities and all of the staff are always happy to help with any questions or queries but most of all they are so caring and always happy. Thank you so much St David's, you have changed and improved my Mom's and our lives. So good to be able to sleep at night knowing she is safe.
Everyone is very polite and helpful. The home is very clean. The food is good. Everyone is kept clean, tidy and well-fed.
My mother has been at St David's for over eight years. We have always been very pleased with the care she has received. The staff are very kind and genuinely affectionate towards her. A very recent visit to another local care home confirms our belief that St David's is the best place for my mother.
St David's is a wonderful, caring and friendly home-from-home residence. The staff go above and beyond to treat residents as individuals and are fully engaged with their needs both medical and personal. Residents are encouraged to take part in activities to keep them occupied, focused and entertained. I have been very impressed with the decorations in the home to celebrate holidays throughout the year. My brother and I are confident that our mum is being well looked after and cared for in this friendly, warm environment.
St David's Care Home is a home from home for my father, friendly, comfortable, above all welcoming and warm. The staff are more like friends than carers. St David's is immaculately clean with all home comforts. My father is very happy.
My mum lived here for three years, arriving during the Covid pandemic. She had Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. She struggled a little at first being in a new environment, but the staff were kind, caring and loving toward her. She always said how good the food was and how kind the staff were to her. St David's staff helped me to support Mum through hospital appointments and, most recently, through her decline and death. During this time, I had unlimited access to Mum and was struck by their care for her and their evident affection towards her. Mum could be quite difficult at times, yet they always responded with love and warmth towards her. Whenever Mum spoke to her sisters, or to me, she always said that the staff were kind and that she wouldn't be without them. During the time that she was resident here, her health improved dramatically, having gone from regular visits to the hospital to no trips to the hospital over a two-year period as she was managed so well at the home.
We had to find a safe place for my brother-in-law on discharge from the hospital. He had fallen and become quite frial. We needed to spend a lot of time getting his house sorted in order to let him go home - including learning rubbish, a deep clean and new central heating, bed, etc. This has taken more time than we hoped, but at least we could rest knowing he was safe. We are very pleased with St David's.
The care my dad has experienced has always been very good. Staff spend time with the residents ensuring they are clean and well looked after. They ensure medical help is given when needed. Staff also arrange activities to keep residents as occupied as possible. The home is warm and friendly, cosy and homely. Staff are approachable and welcoming and have remained the same for the duration of Dad's stay.
We are so pleased to have found St David's, having looked at a lot of places. It has such a homely feel and is very clean. The staff are all happy, welcoming, friendly and helpful. They engage with the all the residents. There are always different activities going on for the residents to enjoy and participate in.
The staff at St David's took great care of my mum, encouraging her to improve her mobility and making her feel welcome and supported. The team led by the manager, with great compassionate support from the owner, always responded quickly and was very helpful. The home has a lovely dining/conservatory area, plus a lounge area, which is used for both TV and gentle exercise (chair-aerobics), delivered with a great sense of fun by the carers. A bonus for the home is Harry, a super-friendly Cockapoo who loves to get a fuss from the residents and is a great aid to their well-being.
