View Full Details of The GablesMy mother has been here for just over 12 months, and the care, love, and efficiency of this care home is outstanding, I would recommend them to anyone. They are well aware of the needs my mother has and is very much on the ball with her hearing, glasses, doctors, and illnesses. The home has a lovely ambience, the staff seems very charming and very friendly and very caring.
My mother has been a resident at The Gables since 2023 and she is in the best place. Mum suffers with dementia and used to be upset about not knowing when she was going home. Now she recognises most days this is her home and she knows she is well looked after. Mum loves to have her nails and her hair done and this is done by the lady who also does activities with them. The Gables is a wonderful establishment and the staff really look after their residents like they would look after their own family. My mum is safe and secure, we can visit at any time and we are all made to feel very welcome, I have taken my grandchildren to visit, the residents love them and I even taken the dog sometimes. We couldn't recommend a place more. The only thing I would reduce the 100% score on is the really strong smell of urine, and the lack of time spent on getting them mobile. My mother has lost most of her mobility and I think this would be helped if more was done to get them moving.
Before my brother came to The Gables, he lived on his own and was hospitalised many times. I was always totally stressed out with worry, but at The Gables, he is so well cared for. The staff are wonderful nothing is too much trouble for them. I try to visit him when I can when my own problems allow me. When I get there I see how well he is looked after and I am not stressed out anymore.
I have no problems with Gables Care Home. I recently (December 2024) attended a Christmas party organised by the Care Home which was very well received by the residents, staff, and visitors. The staff there have also helped me with knowing what kind of clothes and sizes to buy for my Aunt. Very helpful indeed.
Dad loves it here. I feel such relief knowing Dad is safe and happy. Staff are always friendly and do many activities to keep residents motivated. Dad loves the routine and I have peace of mind that he is eating 3 meals a day and nurses coming daily to give him his jab as he has diabetes. Definitely would recommend it.
Mum has been a resident at The Gables for just over 4 years. She has Dementia which meant she could no longer live independently. From her first day she has been made welcome and received great care. When me and my sisters visit it is evident that all of the residents are well looked after and complex needs met, sometimes in challenging situations and always with a smile. Mum is content, safe and we have peace of mind. If anything could be improved it would be the bedrooms. They are a little basic but quite adequate.
My mother was cared for at The Gables for 5 years until her demise at the age of 97. The care and attention she received was excellent from all the lovely care staff. I knew she was in safe hands and that put my mind at rest.
During my mum's time living at The Gables, she was well looked after by the staff. They were extremely patient and kind to her. They took time to discover the type of activities that she enjoyed and encouraged her to spend time doing those things. The Gables is a good size, not too large so the other residents felt like a family to mum. Also, there was a good continuity of staff which is important to the elderly. In the last weeks of Mum's life, the staff were extremely caring not only to Mum but also to me and my family, they allowed me to spend as much time as I possibly could with Mum, and they worked hard to make her end of life as comfortable as possible, whilst keeping me updated at every possible opportunity.
My mother was very happy at The Gables. She always said she was at the best residential home. In her last month at The Gables, she was looked after very well and all the staff were very kind to her. They also kept me and the family informed of how she was. She has all the best care.
I visit my friend weekly at The Gables and find the staff very friendly and welcoming. The residents are well taken care of and they are encouraged to join in with arts and crafts and other events that are put on for them such as pancake day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and so on as well as things like the Elvis lookalike singalong so they try to vary entertainment for the residents with bingo and puzzles and colouring, so l feel they are trying to do their best.
It is a great comfort to know my dad is being so wonderfully cared for by all the staff. I cannot thank them enough for the support and care they give him and extend to me and my brother especially as we both live at a distance.
