View Full Details of The HawthornsMy dad was with The Hawthorns till March 23rd when he was taken into hospital. As his cancer had got worse and he could not breathe, he died in hospital on the 24th. The home were great with him. I can't thank them enough, all the staff were friendly and helpful. They looked after my dad very well. He loved it there. The meals are good. I can't say thank you enough for how they looked after him. I will miss them all, they became like family to us.
The management and staff are all very friendly and in my opinion do an excellent job. Since June this year, my brother has been a resident and he is very happy with the care he receives. I call to see him on a regular basis and I am always made very welcome by the management and the staff. Management is always available to discuss anything you may wish to. Overall the service is very good. Thank you.
I have only been at the home for a short period but I have been treated very well.
I like the food, staff and management - excellent.
I know my friend rates this home and its facilities very highly. When I visited my friend he always seemed very happy and contented. He is very complimentary about the staff and the food and because he has friends and relatives visiting he has a constant supply of books to entertain him. Things have now settled down after his initial confusion caused by his illness and he is content to be here and complimentary about his surroundings.
Hawthorns appears to have a happy friendly atmosphere, staff are tolerant to my friend's bad behaviour. The place is clean and homely. She seems to be happy, my concern was not being able to visit her in her room and I've not seen any activities taking place. I do not know what the food is like. The conservatory where I was allowed to visit her was often cold, I have since been told that I can visit her in her room, but I have never been shown her room - I am allowed to visit her in the day room which is better. I am satisfied now!
My mother has been a resident at The Hawthorns for many years. During Covid, isolation and lockdown, the staff and owners have shown my family huge support and understanding. My mother's care is outstanding, and although bedridden now, her skin has remained intact, and she is very well looked after. Excellent care. I would recommend The Hawthorns to anyone in the same position as ourselves and looking for a well-run and caring home. We can't thank them enough for looking after our special mum.
Overall, good all-round. Nice staff and nice management.
After visiting many homes, the moment I stepped into The Hawthorns, I knew it was the place that my Aunt would be happy in. A real 'home from home' and the staff always go that extra mile to make all the residents comfortable, relaxed and above all happy. My Aunt has been very happy here. She is encouraged to join in all the activities, but at the same time, her privacy has been respected. The care is second to none.
The staff know the residents by name, character and some of their history. (They know me by name too). The staff are attentive, available, friendly and mostly smiling. The Hawthorns offers a range of food and activities but I don't think my friend the resident, responds to these. She is left to sit and doze. The house is clean and (unlike other homes we have visited) never smelly.
Must be Birmingham's best kept secret. A real home from home. Would not want to change anything.
Spacious room. Cleaned daily. Warm and airy. Excellent food. Generous portions. Varied menu. Management and staff are efficient, caring and respectful and friendly.
I am very happy and contented. I feel very relaxed.
My stepdad has been at this care home for just over two years. He has very bad dementia. When he arrived he was very underweight as I was unaware he had not been eating properly. Since being in the care home he has put on a healthy amount of weight. He seems happy in himself although he doesn’t know where he is. The staff are always friendly. The home is clean and the rooms are fresh with regular linen changes. My dad is always clean and looks respectable. Visiting is welcomed and refreshments offered. Entertainment is put on occasionally and photos are shown of how the service users are enjoying themselves. I have been well informed if accidents (falls) happen and they take appropriate action where needed. The manager is very approachable and is available most days to answer questions.
