View Full Details of St Jude's Residential Care Home LtdI had to move my Mom from another city so I originally chose a care home I'd give 1 star to. I moved her out and simply knocked on the door of St Jude's Residential Care Home on the off chance, I knew from the minute I stepped in, this was the right place for Mom. All of the staff are fantastic, show care and understanding to the residents and it feels so personal rather than a big, soulless care home. They have been particularly kind to our family, now my brother is staying there on respite and I am so grateful for everything they've done to make our life just that bit easier. I always leave there reassured that my loved ones are safe and cared for so what more could I want than that. Thanks to the manager and her team for being brilliant.
Mum was in for a relatively short period of time. Myself and siblings were there on a daily basis working with the staff to ensure our mother who was physically weak and vulnerable had the best possible care. This improved with the dialogue with staff members as time went by.
When I was looking for a care home for Mum in 2021, a family friend who was a community nurse, highly recommended St. Jude's. Am so glad she was accepted. The lovely staff are genuinely caring and friendly, making St. Jude's a home from home. They strive to meet the very different needs of all the residents, which is not an easy task. Mum could be quite demanding, but the staff took this in their stride. The staff shone when Mum took a turn for the worse in September 2024, they could not have done more for us as a family; we were asked to treat the home as if it were our own, and provided a mattress for me to stay the night and many other little things which simply made the process that little less daunting. I was so moved by the staff who were going off shift and coming in to say their goodbyes to Mum. The respect which was shown to her after she passed was touching, we were bewildered and they led the way by doing what was necessary. We will always be immensely grateful.
My mother moved into St, Jude's in January 2016 following a severe stroke. She passed in July 2024. Throughout her time at the home, she was catered for with outstanding service. My mother was Italian and she was able to have her daily espresso which also extended to family and friends who visited her. They also allowed the family to bring in her favourite food pasta with homemade sauce. The staff were brilliant and treated her as one of their own. Nothing was ever too much for them. The room was spotless and was decorated as if she were in her own home. I cannot emphasise enough how the management and staff looked after my mother. They always had a smile whenever we visited. And always made us feel welcome. There are not enough superlatives to describe this home and the staff that run it. Thank you again St. Jude's for all that you have done for our mother.
The staff at St Jude's who cared for our mum will always hold a special place in our hearts. I haven't been able to come back to see you since the passing of her last September but I think of you often with gratitude for the excellent care you gave to our lovely Mum.
Mum use to walk her dog past St Jude’s and always said that would be the care home she would go into if it was needed. In April Mum went into St Jude’s for respite care. The owners, staff and all involved were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The whole care home is beautiful, clean and airy. Mum's room was lovely and staff would sit with Mum and talk to her. My thanks to all for the love and care provided.
My mother joined the St Jude's family in September 2019. Sadly, she passed away in September 2022. During her stay, she had the best possible care. Nothing was too much trouble. Towards the end, her needs changed, and the staff were able to sympathetically and professionally alter the care needed. From a personal perspective, I was helped with any forms that needed to be completed by the manager and the team. I was always kept informed of Mum's changing condition and the treatment administered. A very friendly atmosphere was always evident. During the difficult Covid period, every effort and expense was taken to ensure that the residents, staff and families were kept safe with regular emails regarding the forever-changing situation.
My mum lived in St Jude's for a couple of years and was always well cared for and considered, however, difficult or hard that was to do. The staff were always willing to help. When it was time for Mum to move elsewhere because of her dementia becoming more progressed, they were amazing, even taking her to the new home and settling her in when I could not. They did their best to ensure this was a positive experience and one that minimised the trauma to Mum. They shared as much information with the new facility as was required and highlighted her needs to the new care team. I was kept informed, as was always the case, of how Mum was and received feedback on her well-being. Well done, and a big thank you to the manager and all her team.
My mum has settled in well and is happy to have people around her 24/7. She has made friends and enjoys joining in with activities. She does have a bit of a moan, sometimes, about meal times, eg food not very hot and waiting times, but she was always an excellent cook, so perhaps her experience of having food cooked for her takes some getting used to. The staff are very kind and friendly. Overall, we are pleased and know she is safe.
This is a very caring home. St Jude’s gave my dad his dignity back, and through living in the community, he gained friends with both the residents and the wonderful staff. The managers of the home gave advice on how to deal with the stages we encountered in my dad's care to make sure we weren’t being disadvantaged. The care my dad received went above and beyond what I expected. He enjoyed his lovely room and the great food on offer. When visiting, we always felt welcome and saw my dad happy. My dad was so very well cared for. We cannot thank St Jude’s enough. This home is amazing.
My mother became a resident at St Jude's in October 2019. I found they provided a caring environment for all residents. All managers and staff showed a dedication to their jobs. All medications were controlled and administered daily by staff. The environment is always clean and well presented, and daily entertainment with resident participation keeps residents' minds active. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Judes as a care home for anyone considering going into care.
My mother was in St Jude's for over four years, until September 2017, and whilst there, she and the family experienced care that was truly outstanding. When my father could no longer manage alone at home, St Jude's was his obvious choice, and he has now been there for eight months. Many of the staff have changed, along with some of the decor, but the sense of love, homeliness and warmth remains. Being fiercely independent and mentally as agile as he has ever been, it was not easy for Dad to adjust to care home life. Led by the manager, the staff embraced this challenge and have pulled out every stop to help Dad settle, which they have successfully done. He is truly valued and respected as the individual he is, and we cannot fault the care and support he and we receive. Thank you, St Jude's.
My father spent 12 months in St Jude's before he passed away on February 25th. It is a small care home which makes it more homely. Staff get to know all of the residents personally, which I believe makes them more compassionate towards the resident. Occasionally my father could be quite awkward and demanding but any issues were dealt with sympathetically. The staff really seemed genuinely upset when he died. I have heard about some homes being less than sympathetic when dealing with family members after a bereavement but, I can honestly say that everything was dealt with sensitively by St Jude's. I thoroughly recommend St Jude's to anyone requiring a care home.
My 2 sisters and I have been meaning to write a review for the past 6 months but our dear mother passed away April of this year and I can only now write this. St Jude's is not only a home for their residents it's also a home for their families. To me and to many others as soon as you walked through the door it was like stepping into your own home. Always greeted with a cup of tea and a chat by all the lovely staff and management. Our dear mother was there for 6 years and in all of them 6 years she was not only cared for to the highest of standards but was truly loved by each member of staff as if she was their own mother. We could never in a million years have picked a nicer home for our mother than St Jude's and that, we will be ever grateful for. The love, care, happiness, they show all of their residents is more than outstanding. We truly miss our family in St Jude's.
My mother has been a resident for just over three years. In this time, the staff have shown enormous amounts of patience, care and kindness. I have been informed should there be an issue, this has always been dealt with swiftly and with the utmost confidence and confidentiality. It is more like a home - your own home. It is friendly, comfortable and caters for all the needs. Senior staff are excellent. Residents are involved with meal requirements. Thoroughly recommend St Jude's 110%!
On the first telephone call to St Jude's, I was very impressed with how I was told about the home and was told to visit at any time we are a small friendly home. I was choosing a home for my auntie who was 94 years old. With the help of myself, the manager and colleague they visited my auntie and asked her lots of questions and asked if she would like to move in the next day. As a family, we were all treated like their family. My auntie had a choice of what time she wanted to go to bed, what time she wanted to get up when she wanted a bath, choice of breakfast, dinner and tea. St Jude's was like a 5-star hotel. I would like to write a good book about St Jude's as all the staff were caring, kind and considerate.
St Judes is a wonderfully friendly home, I think due to the fact that its family-run. The management team are so accommodating and friendly, and the staff are kind and knowledgable. The food is great, and they have been very accommodating with my friend's dietary requests and needs. I can't recommend them enough.
I have been very impressed with the management and carers. Their approach to attending to my mum's needs has been friendly, sympathetic and thoughtful, and she is seen very much seen as an individual. Staff have been willing to offer advice and support. The home is very welcoming, with decor and furnishings that make it feel like home. A wide range of activities are provided, when possible, (notwithstanding current restrictions), and the food and catering are excellent.
It is a very friendly caring home. The care given to my mum was exceptional. Very clean and homely. Mum was there for 3 1/2 years and she was very happy and settled, would definitely and have already recommended it to others.
