View Full Details of The Friendly InnMy father was made welcome from the beginning. Overall he has enjoyed his two week respite. He made good the opportunity to talk with staff, carers, chefs, cleaners and laundry. He enjoyed the animal man, the food, the garden is amazing, he loved the outdoors. The upstairs room on occasion was hot on the good weather days. His bed was changed at request to a normal devan. He slept better. He said he felt a little too lost at times, not sure what he should be doing.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and will help my brother whenever possible, even to the extent of fetching a curry for him. He seems to get on well with all of them. It would be helpful if some of them had training to understand Parkinsons Disease which he has, apparently, they have never had a Parkinsons resident before and he gets frustrated when they don't understand him because he gets freezing sessions where his brain won't work properly.
My best friend of over 50 years has been a resident for the last couple of years. The care home is a fantastic place. They do so much for the residents, taking them out to visit places such as museums and providing a lot of good quality entertainment. They also involve the residents in a lot of activities such as craft work relevant to the time of year such as Halloween and Easter.
My mother had been caring alone for my father, for many years, without outside help as he would not let any other carers attend to him the result of this, just as covid started, when they were both in hospital - he following a fall and she for complete collapse followed by a Dementia diagnosis. Neither could return to their home and both were admitted by Solihull Council to The Friendly Inn Care Home. With all the stress lifted, my mother has thrived here, she is back to health and back to a healthy weight, she tells me every time I see her how lovely everyone is and that she is spoilt having everything done for her now. Staff really do seem to care for her with regular hugs and chats. A knitting group (her favourite pastime) has recently been set up and in the summer there is the garden (her other love). Thankfully, now Covid is no longer the issue it was, trips out have started up again and she loves those. Could not recommend them more highly.
My mother-in-law has been a resident here for many years from admission to date. I cannot fault the services she has received and how we as a family have been treated. The staff go above and beyond in every aspect. I could not be any more grateful. My mother-in-law is happy and content.
My brother has been a resident at The Friendly Inn Care Home for over 5 years now and is very happy and contented to be there. The home is very well run and the staff are very friendly and always approachable. The home is clean and comfortable. There is a wide range of things to do and trips out are often arranged for the residents, I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone.
My dad is 91 years old and has dementia. He's been at The Friendly Inn since the start of the year. I have found the staff to be very capable and they have an excellent rapport with my father. His room is very comfortable and the staff keep in touch with me and my wife and try to involve us with everything.
My sister has always seemed comfortable and happy at The Friendly Inn. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful to me. The food always seems to be of a good standard, my sister has always been happy with it. One thing I have been asking for us another chair in my sister's room for me to sit on. At 81, just sitting on the bed gives me back ache.
My experience of the home is good everyone is polite and helpful and it is beginning to look very nice now as it has been refurbished and updated.
The home is caring and lots of activities to be done. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend this care home to anyone.
The friendly care home I would give 5 stars. The staff are all second to none - fantastic care, friendly, supportive, kind and loving to all residents and family. The home is clean and cared for - the entertainment is fantastic. My mom comes out singing and happy when I collect her. I couldn't wish for better carers to look after my mom. The manager, admin staff, managers, carers, and cleaners are all so caring and the home is first-class. Thank you.
Lately, Mom has deteriorated recently due to dementia and The Friendly Inn management and staff have adapted well to her increasing needs. We visit Mom regularly and management are always ready to discuss any issues with us. Over the last month, she has improved and this is likely due to her being cajoled/nudged/persuaded or other means to encourage her to join other residents in the main rooms. We believe that these actions have been good for her.
Mom was placed in the care home due to dementia, as had become unsafe at home. On initial visit, prior to admission found everyone friendly. Mom has had a couple of falls since admission, we have been advised immediately of this and rapid response called to assess. Meals are good, lunch is cooked meal and pudding, not stingy on the portions or seconds. Mom's room is perfect for her needs, with nice furniture and a toilet and sink for personal use. Visiting is not restricted at all. Carers are exactly that. Most, not all, speak to residents with the care and respect they deserve. Some go above and beyond, supporting families by listening to any concerns and a welcoming hug. Activities are good encouraging residents to participate. The garden area is pretty and will be lovely for summer months when visiting. I am able to take Mom out if just for a walk with no time restriction.
My Mum has been at The Friendly Inn for a year. Mum is well looked after and the Friendly team truly care about her well being. Mum really likes her carers. Thank you to the carers for going the extra mile to share video messages via Whatsapp from her Australian family. Mum enjoys the activities and old fashioned food. Her room is clean and warm and the laundry is well managed. The care home communicates well with me. They have had difficult times with Covid lockdowns but the team takes time to chat and give updates about Mum on the phone. Her medical needs are met with a visiting Doctor and the onsite nurse. That Mum is happy at Friendly makes me happy because moving her into care was a tough and scary decision. Thank you to the team at Friendly Inn. Keep up the good work.
For the couple of times I've been, it is always clean and the staff are very courteous and polite. I call most evenings to check how Mum is and the staff are always truthful and tell her that I call. I think they do a wonderful job in difficult circumstances.
My sister seems settled and happy. Her needs are met and she is happy with the food which is provided. The staff are helpful and meet her needs. Sometimes, when she has a medical problem, such as sores on her feet, she doesn't tell the staff. It would be good if the staff ask her specifically if she has anything she is not happy about. I know if she doesn't say, they won't know.
When my husband had to be moved to a residential care home, it was initially a very stressful time for both of us, in different ways. However, owing to the care, support and kindness that the team at the Friendly Inn have extended to both of us, we are both starting to adapt quite well. My husband often tells me, when I visit, that he likes it there and this helps to give me peace of mind.
My mother is well cared for, no complaints.
Since my sister entered The Friendly Inn, she has always been well cared for. She has always been treated with kindness and dignity. The staff have always been very friendly, they have made my sisters stay at The Friendly Inn very happy. Which to me is one of the most important things.
My mum was a resident for four weeks at The Friendly Inn April/May 2021. I cannot praise highly enough the care that was shown to my mum. The carers really did care, nothing was too much and even in the short time she stayed, they got to know her likes and dislikes. If mum had to go into 24-hour care I hope that they would have a bed for her as I would worry that anywhere else she might not get the care and attention that I know she would get at the Friendly Inn. My mum had to isolate for ten days so was unable to interact with the other residents, the care staff took the time to chat with her and look at her photo albums, did her nails and her hair. She was so pampered. Thank you Friendly Inn I think you should be very proud of the service you give.
