View Full Details of Engelberg Care HomeMum moved to Engelberg after finding living at home difficult. I am impressed with the friendly caring staff who have helped mum settle in. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. She enjoys the daily activities and walks around the beautiful gardens. It's very comforting to know mum is being so well cared for in a lovely environment.
The process for admission was prompt and efficient. The public areas are light, well maintained and comfortable. My mother's room is a good size with a pleasant view over the well maintained garden. We have been able to personalise her room with her own pictures. The care staff are responsive and kind and sufficient in number to provide timely assistance. The range of activities, enthusiastically provided, is good with variety to suit all tastes. Catering is excellent with a range of freshly cooked meals served in a very pleasant dining room. Overall I have been impressed by the home and am very happy with the care offered to my mother. I would recommend Engelberg.
From February 2024 when my sister first came to Engelberg from another home in Wolverhampton, I have no reason to complain. All her needs are cared for and in return, a lot of pressure has been lifted from my shoulders. The management and staff are very kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum has recently transferred to permanent residency at Engelberg having had a couple of respite stays. She is so settled it is almost unbelievable! She has benefited from the social and activity programme and looks forward to her times in the lounge with other residents and staff. The staff are fully committed, caring and attentive to detail on an individual basis. We are as a family always made to feel welcome when we visit and kept informed of any issues of concern. Thank you to all the staff for your part in this.
A lovely home with lovely staff, my dad has stayed here three times for respite and twice he asked to go back and stay, would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a home for their relatives or for themselves. My dad was respected at all times and very well cared for.
My father is a resident at Engelberg, moving there a month ago. For anyone moving to a care home for the first time, it is quite overwhelming at first. From the moment he arrived, the staff ensured he quickly felt like it was as much like home as possible. The management staff are excellent and make sure that side of things is well managed. Communication is very good. The room is kept clean and dad’s needs are well considered. He is at 88 slow in moving having had a fall but he is still quite with it and is enjoying the activities each day and the occasional game of dominoes. Food is plentiful and there is a choice. A nurse visits the home each week and he has already had chiropody and his hair done! Everyone is friendly and the facilities are housed in nice big light communal rooms. He attended church before and therefore is pleased they have services each week in the home for those who want it. I have every confidence he is being very well looked after.
My mum has been at Engelberg for 6 months and during that time she has received exceptional care and support. All of the staff are dedicated professionals who take the care, health and happiness of the residents personally. It genuinely always feels like home. My family and I always know she is well looked after and we are confident that we will always be kept informed and involved in her care.
We are so grateful and impressed to the staff at Engelberg for ensuring that my father's respite stay went well. He has gone in for respite care several times over the past 3 years and each time it has been excellent. The nurses and carers are brilliant and always take the time to get to know my dad and his sense of humour! Thanks also to the whole team - from the admin/managerial staff to the catering and last, but by no means least, the chaplaincy and activity coordinators; you have all helped to make my dad feel comfortable and at ease and also provided support and advice to my mum. This time we particularly enjoyed spending an afternoon in the garden with a picnic tea which also allowed my dad to watch two of his grandchildren playing in the sunshine. Thank you really isn't enough!
My mother became a resident at Engelberg four months ago. At the time she realised that with increasing frailty and frequent falls she could no longer live safely by herself in her own home. She had known about Engelberg for many years because of connections with the local church and so was pleased to have the opportunity to live there. I have been surprised just how quickly she has settled in and I am sure this is largely because of the hardworking staff who do so much to look after all the residents. They are very friendly and welcoming and seem to really enjoy their work. Communication with relatives is excellent and visiting at any reasonable time is no problem, so my mother still has lots of contact with her friends. If you know someone who needs residential care, Engelberg is one of the best.
After having a two-week respite stay last year, Mum had no hesitation in booking another two weeks this year whilst I was away. A decline in her health meant that she was admitted to Engelberg straight from hospital and the respite ended up being for six weeks. She decided during the last week that this was to become her permanent home. It was a very big decision to make and she has settled extremely well. She only has praise for all the staff, as all her needs are being met and she is never rushed. She enjoys all the meals and is grateful for everything everyone does for her as nothing is never too much trouble. She does look forward to the services on a Thursday and Sunday. I personally am extremely grateful to every single member of staff and their dedication towards all the residents, also I think the visit of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner every week is an extremely valuable part of the resident's care. May God bless you all.
Since my aunty came to Engelberg we have found the staff to be kind, caring and respectful. They have helped my aunty and us as a family through some difficult times which is much appreciated. Everywhere is always spotlessly clean and a warm and welcoming atmosphere is to be found in this lovely home.
We were fortunate enough to secure a place at Engelberg for our dear old friend, who could no longer lead an independent life. It had been recommended to us by his solicitor, who'd visited a number of similar establishments in the course of his work; to his mind Engelberg could not be faulted and we entirely agree. We have found the staff to be wholly committed to their elderly residents, providing them with a cheerful, happy atmosphere in a warm and comfortable environment. Our friend now feels part of a wider family and the yearning to return to his home, to his solitary existence, no longer appears to be his ultimate goal. He's become more relaxed, more settled and would like to remain at Engelberg where he waxes lyrical about his full English breakfast! A very big thank you to all the staff, who work so tirelessly to provide such excellent care. We are enormously grateful to you for making life worth living again for our dear old friend.
We have been so impressed with the care my father has received since moving to Engelberg in January. The staff are cheerful, professional and genuinely care for the residents that they look after. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, they take the time to have lengthy talks with him, they accompanied him to a hospital appointment when work commitments prevented us from doing so and treat him like he was a member of their own family. He got to choose his own room, he has a choice of meals and there are activities every day which he enjoys. We cannot fault anything about this home and the care he receives. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the staff that work there for their kindness and dedication.
We visited for the first time and were overwhelmed by the friendly caring and thoughtful staff. Nothing was too much bother. I have never been in a care home where all of the staff were so happy. The level of care and dedication that they showed was jawdropping. I cannot thank them enough. They have given my godmother a new lease of life and at the weekend I saw her back to her old self. Thank you isn't enough.
I have been most impressed by the kindness of all the team. The needs of the resident are their top priority and the professionalism of the team is impressive. Whatever time I visit, whenever I visit there is such a lovely vibrant, positive atmosphere and my friend who has recently moved in has settled quickly and well and has decided to stay permanently.
Following a move from another care home in February 2022, I feel my mother was warmly welcomed and settled fairly quickly into the Engelberg family. My mother, even by her own admission, is by no means a socialite but I have been impressed by how the staff engage with her in such a warm, friendly manner and they always encourage her to join in with the daily activities on offer. I have witnessed firsthand how all the carers treat her respectfully and are attentive to her needs. I cannot praise the senior staff enough for keeping me so well informed about any health concerns or medical interventions they deem necessary and the compassionate and timely manner in which they are handled.
The home look after my family member well. She is as happy as can be considering her condition. They take her wishes into consideration. She eats well. The staff are always very friendly. Communication is good.
We found every member of staff that we had contact with went out of their way to make us and the resident feel listened to and cared for. This was our first contact with the care system and it came at a very difficult time during Covid. The resident had many challenging needs that we had struggled to meet whilst having very little support so to find somewhere where we feel they understood what was needed and did everything in their power to help meet these needs and help us navigate the complex care system. Unfortunately, her stay was short but I feel she felt genuinely cared for and valued whilst at Engleberg and it gave us some much-needed respite. I only hope with her increasing care needs we can find a home with the same ethos as Engleberg.
My aunt has been a resident at Engelberg for five months and has settled in well, although she is over 100-years old, she has very good mental capacity and tells me that she is content and appreciates the activities that are provided during the day, and she likes the choice of mixing with others or staying in her room if she is tired. The food is good and the chef took the trouble to speak to her personally and enquire why she wasn’t eating much during a period when she lost her appetite. My aunt is a Christian and regularly attends services, though there is no pressure on her to do so. I would recommend that this residential home is seriously considered by anyone seeking a warm, comfortable and caring environment for their loved one.
We have found all the staff to be helpful and the care staff very caring. My relative has settled in very well and is happy with the care received. The regular staff are taking great care of him and I feel they genuinely care about his welfare which is very good to see. My dealings with the office, senior care staff have all been very positive also. My father is very pleased with the food, which is small portions which suits him and served often, he actually has put a little bit of weight on which is good.
