View Full Details of Penn House LtdCannot fault the care mom receives here. All the staff are lovely and friendly and welcoming. Mom is well looked after and kept safe. Cannot praise them enough for their care. I can sleep at night knowing mom is in good hands.
What can I say about this wonderful establishment that isn't glowing. My Mam had been in their care since February 2023 following an emergency temporary respite bed, she has remained there until she sadly passed away early this morning. Her behaviour to say the least was both complex and challenging at times, the staff went above and beyond, she was extremely well looked after, safe, cared for with love and the last week of her life she was comfortable and I was able to visit whenever I wished. I will be forever grateful to the Manager and Staff at Penn House for their professional manner, care, love and support they showed my Mam. A heartfelt Thank You
Amazing team looking after my dad, he has come on leaps and bounds since being in their care. He has put them through a lot at the start of his stay. But their commitment to get him fit and healthy to come back home is amazing.
Dad has been supported and encouraged by an attentive team of staff. They have made us all feel welcome when visiting and enabled Dad to feel safe and secure whilst he continued to get well. Communication has been excellent, keeping us updated on Dad's progress.
The home has looked after my father-in-law very well since day one of his transfer from hospital. We are very pleased with his progress there. The staff are very welcoming and supportive to us as well. Top marks, would definitely recommend this care home.
Fantastic care given to our Dad by all staff at Penn House since being transferred here from hospital towards the end of October 2024. Can't speak highly enough of all of you, our gratitude to you all for the support and encouragement to Dad and also to all our family in this uncertain time. He has come through a lot and is now very much stronger. Thank you hopefully, he will be home soon.
My Dad has made a steady recovery, over the last 11 days. Having been in hospital for 2 weeks for a suspected UTI infection, where he had several intravenous antibiotics during his stay. The staff at the care home have taken the time to make Dad comfortable and take time to talk with him. He was very confused as to why he had been sent to a care home. The staff has reassured him, as he has gained in confidence being able to walk with his frame. Eating and dressing himself. He is happy with the home and doesn't want to be moved anywhere else. Just to get better and get back home. Well done to the caring staff.
My sister joined Penn House after struggling to manage in her ground-floor flat. The care that was provided for her in her flat was nothing short of woeful. On first entering Penn House we were very impressed with the friendliness and dedication of all the staff from management to domestics. Nothing is too much trouble for them even in busier times. After years of not eating properly, my sister now eats properly cooked meals and loves the crispy bacon on a weekend! Well done Penn House.
Mum was admitted directly from hospital severely weakened from a serious bout of constipation. The dedication and attention provided by the staff to reinvigorating Mum with nutritional intake and mobility has been profoundly successful and appreciated. Mum is much brighter and starting to join the other residents in the communal areas for meals and TV. Great job.
Mom was discharged to Penn House straight from the hospital on a D2A (Discharge To Access) with very little notice or consultation. Our heads were spinning but the staff have been absolutely amazing since day one. They always have time to answer questions, they’re more than happy to listen and take on feedback when offered and they are always visible and contactable. They’ve made Mom feel so welcome, she’s settled in really well and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that in all of my time there with her I have never once witnessed an ounce of impatience from any of the staff with any of the patients, not a single eye roll or sigh amongst them - even when challenging situations arise. It’s clear they care a great deal and it’s obvious that they’re there because they want to be. They are happy in their work which speaks volumes for the home overall. There are no closed doors or secrets, and no set visiting hours, we’re told that this is her home and ours too. They bring me peace at a very stressful time.
After spending 9 weeks in hospital laying on her back with a neck brace on my 79-year-old mom was transferred on 20/11/2019 to Penn House via step down. First impressions when I walked in the home was that it was warm and the staff also warm and friendly also there was no smell sometimes attributed to a care home. My mom has been a resident for 5 nights and she has asked for cake, the first time in 9 weeks she has asked for food, she is in a warm comfortable room and is smiling and sleeping much better. My dad is happy to see my mom being looked after so well. My mom's skin is in a bad way due to the hospital stay, but the staff at Penn House are looking after her to the district nurses instructions. The family are hoping that after the physios have helped my mom to stand then hopefully walk again there will be availability for my mom to continue her stay. A big thank you to all the staff and management for looking after mom and putting a smile back on her face!
My uncle was recently a resident at Penn House and I was very happy with the care he received. The staff were extremely helpful and caring and I was always made to feel extremely welcome every time I visited him. When he was taken ill one morning the member of staff stayed with him in the ambulance and at the hospital till we got there, I felt this really showed a real caring and compassion over and above what I would have expected.
My mother is a resident at Penn House care home, I recently found out and in the ten or so times my wife and I have visited the home, to see my mother, the last two occasions have been the worst. The upstairs, in fact, the whole house smells really badly of urine. I find this totally unacceptable, for a care home standard of hygiene. The staff are friendly and helpful, I've never seen my mom eat a hot meal while I've been there. Looking at other care homes closer to myself and my family, the standard does seem to be a lot higher than the standard she's getting at the moment. I'm concerned for her mental health as there doesn't seem to be anything to occupy her mind whilst she convalescing with a very badly broken leg (7places). Yours concerningly.
